Single Bunk Bed in Female Dormitory Room
Stayed 1 night in June 2025

    “Exceptional”

I had a very comfortable stay. The temperature in Kyoto during the day was about 35 degrees Celsius, but the air conditioning in the hallway and bathroom was turned off, so it was a bit hot. The room had air conditioning and was comfortable. The staff were very kind. They carefully instructed me on where the supermarket was while I was going out to buy groceries. There was a swallow's nest at the eaves of the inn with baby swallows, and they were very cute. I arrived by shared bicycle, but please be careful as there are no street lights in the area at night, and it gets dark.

Single Bunk Bed in Female Dormitory Room
Stayed 1 night in April 2025

“For those looking for simple accommodations.”

There was no one at the reception, so I was a bit confused at the entrance, but I was relieved that I could contact them right away through the intercom. The person was very friendly and kindly gave me detailed information about the guesthouse and showed me to my room. This time, I was in a women's only room with a bunk bed, which might be tough for elderly or those with low stamina. There were small lights around the bed, and while there was no space to put my belongings, there was a tall, locked locker right at the entrance of the room where I could keep my clothes and items. There was a common area for eating and a TV. I was grateful that I could enjoy a leisurely meal with food I bought outside. There was only one shower, so it's necessary to avoid peak times. There was also one hairdryer available. The sink area had two sinks, but it was shared. Personally, I thought it was challenging that only water came from the faucet, so it might be tough to remove makeup and wash my face in winter. I would like to use it again if I have the opportunity.

    “Good”

Fair value for money, location okay for that too section of Kyoto, within easy reach of the busy tourist areas. Not sure the pictures reflect the accommodation. We had to question it on arrival, thinking we were in a triple room but were assigned 2 mattresses on the floor - not as per pictures but it was comfortable enough. Use of kitchen area handy to make own meals / drinks as Japan can get expensive when travelling on a budget. Recommended but be sure to know what you’ve booked and manage expectations.
