    “Amazing Ryokan!!!”

Togetsutei was an incredible experience and I will recommend it to anyone and everyone!! The staff are all so kind and professional, they really made our stay amazing. We were in room 16 (Narutaki) which has a large cedar bath (pictured) that was the perfect temperature. Our stay began with an in-room tea ceremony (i love matcha & mochi!!) which wa so nice. We loved the provided yukatas (one set we wore to dinner/to see the fireworks show, one was for sleeping which we wore to breakfast). The dinner was a bunch of small plates (japanese steamed vegetables, savory miso mochi, melon/prosciutto, mushroom broth), a full sashimi plate, a braised duck dish, a whole little fish (pictured), abalone, miso soup, and a super refreshing fruit jelly for dessert (pictured). I’m allergic to crustaceans and they were super accommodating & careful with my allergy (other guests had a shrimp and a crab dish at dinner but we did not). During dinner they made our beds which were very comfortable! Breakfast (pictured) had a lot of small dishes as well including salmon, egg, miso soup, rice porridge, pickled veggies, and tofu that was cooked right at the table. After breakfast we got a little strawberry cake + tea (pictured). There’s also a public onsen and a private onsen that you can reserve on site as well.

Thank you for choosing Togetsutei and for sharing your heartwarming feedback about your stay. We are delighted to hear you enjoyed the Narutaki Room, especially the cypress bath and tea experience. Knowing that the yukata, meals, and seasonal touches contributed to your comfort brings us great joy. We are also pleased that our staff attentively addressed your dietary requests, allowing you to enjoy your meals with peace of mind. Your kind words about dinner, breakfast, and our hot spring facilities are a tremendous encouragement to our entire staff. We sincerely hope you will return to enjoy the seasonal flavors and the charm of Arashiyama once again. *Please note that allergy accommodations require advance notice. We appreciate your understanding. Togetsutei all the staff member

    “Ideal spot to relax”

I would like to come back! The room is spacious and clean. It has a nice bath inside the room. Property is overlooking the bridge. Though you can feel the history of the property, it is well-maintained. I enjoyed walking through the tunnel to get to the private onsen and other side of the property. This tunnel was literally below a busy main street by the way. A real gem! Property is peaceful. There was just a noisy Japanese woman guest one night who appeared drunk, loudly talking throughout the night. Not the hotel's fault. The staff, though not everyone spoke English, were very helpful and courteous. The only negative comment is about luggage storage. It said in Agoda that there was luggage storage, so we booked this property. Upon checking out, they didn't want to keep our luggage. The staff said they were closed or on a holiday. This left us confused. Good thing was that the train station was nearby, we used the locker at the station.

Thank you very much for staying with us and for sharing your valuable feedback. We are honored to hear that our clean guest rooms, in-room baths, quiet atmosphere overlooking the bridge, and the historical charm of our facility enhanced your stay. We also appreciate your kind words about our staff. While not all speak fluent English, we are pleased they were able to provide courteous and considerate service. We sincerely apologize for the confusion regarding our luggage storage service. While we do offer luggage storage after checkout, our hotel is closed every Wednesday unless reservations are made. Consequently, the time we can store luggage may be limited in certain cases. We deeply regret that we failed to communicate this clearly, causing you confusion. We will review our signage and communication methods to prevent such misunderstandings in the future. We are deeply honored by your intention to revisit us. We sincerely look forward to providing you with a smoother and more com

    “Fantastic Accomodation for Special Occasions”

Room type: 1 X Japanese Style Room C with Cypress Semi Open-Air Bath My stay at Togetsutei was fantastic. It's hard to judge the value of experiences like this: no doubt it is expensive, but you also do get a premium experience. The service, cleanliness, aesthetic, quality of the rooms and the food was all top-notch. I definitely will come back for a stay in the future, and will be recommending it to others for special occasions. Treat it like an experience, rather than just accomodation.

    “Fantastic experience ”

The staff here is exceptional! I had mentioned how beautiful the floor lamp was and asked where one may find one. They went above and beyond to research and print a store in the city where I could purchase one! On top of that, they were very polite and the accommodations were more than comfortable. Food was delicious and location was prime. 10/10 would recommend.

    “15/10”

We loved staying here! The room was so nice and cozy, we had an outdoor bath that was so amazing. Our room was clean, everything we could have asked for was ready including iced water, yukatas, extra bedding, and even beer+sake in the fridge! The traditional breakfast was one of the nest meals we had during our trip. We hope to be able to stay here again in the future!
