Nice location! Good food. Very helpful service staff.”

This ryokan hotel is situated next to the Togetsukyo bridge so you can quickly go out for some sightseeing nearby eg Arashiyama bamboo forest and then walk back in about 15-20 minutes to avoid the crowds. Since ryokan includes a good dinner and breakfast, you can rest assured that your meals are taken care of during your stay. Only con is that the nearest convenience shop is about 15mins walk away and the shops are all closed at night so there is nothing you can do around here after dinner at ryokan but to take the onsen bath and rest early for the night to do more sightseeing or shopping the following day. The room we got was quite nice as it was facing the street so you can spend some leisure time people watching, I feel the bath tub in the room wasn’t the cleanest so better use the public onsen bath on the first floor. Hotel staff are so nice to us. Helped us hail a taxi from the street and also allowed us to rest at the lobby before the check-in and after check-out. Also, they were kind to accept our luggage that arrived a day or two before our check-in (do phone or email them in advance before sending luggage over. You’ll need to check if they are able to receive them). Overall would recommend it as it was close to many sightseeing spots so you can arrive much earlier before the crowds appear.

"素敵なホテル京都" translates to "Lovely Hotel in Kyoto" in English.”

This hotel is located right next to Togestutei Bridge and offers a variety of fun activities. The staff were very friendly, the rooms were very clean, and the overall atmosphere was delightful. The hotel had a beautiful blend of modern and traditional elements. I highly recommend it. However, if you have a tattoo, you cannot use the public onsen (which is completely understandable), but you can rent a private onsen.

Japanese Style Room with Semi Open-Air Bath - Non-Smoking

    Relaxing experience”

We booked a Japanese Style Room with Semi Open-Air Bath for a night. Staff was very polite and helpful, but the lobby looks a bit dated. The hotel was easy to find but a bit of a walk from the train station (more so if you have to roll luggage and walk through the crowds of tourists) The room is very spacious and the open air bath was very nice. Initially thought the bath used hot spring water but was told it was normal water. The bedding for tatami mats were set up while we went for dinner (which was a great kaiseki experience) and were very comfortable to stay in. We had a very nice Japanese breakfast in the morning (runs 7-9am) before we checked out at 10. The free wifi didn’t work at all for us. Although there is a public hot spring available, we opted to book a private one for 45 min at a reasonable price. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and glad we did it for one night as it gave us early head start to explore the bamboo forest and monkey park before the large tourist crowds arrive. Would recommend if you are looking for a traditional experience.
