"In Hong Kong hotels are very expensive, so as a solo traveler staying for almost two weeks I started to look for hostels. And I am so happy I found YHA, which is probably the best value hostel I ever stayed in. Opened in 2013, the facilities are brand new and very clean. There is a public housing museum in the same facilities, which explains the expensive renovation that YHA went through. It is a heritage site, really. Great layout and a great cafeteria with decent breakfast given the cheap dormitory rooms. Do not miss out to hike up the hill located just in the back of the hostel for a great view over Kowloon. Interesting location in Sham Shui Po - one of the oldest and more shady neighbourhoods in Hong Kong. But still only 10 minutes subway ride from the skyscrapers in Central."

"This is a cheap, friendly hostel right in the heart of Wan Chai, in a perfect place area in Hong Kong for me! It is close to the metro station and the buses to and from the airport and the rest of Hong Kong so it's easily accessible. Taxis weren't too expensive either. At first, it may be a bit difficult to find because it is not very clearly marked, but just look at the numbers on the doors to help! The rooms were clean and tidy (and I shared with all boys so can only get better) and I was pleasantly surprised at how comfy the beds were! There are lockers in the room that were safe and plenty of communal areas to relax in. There were some useful facilities; computers, wifi and towels to rent. There are lots of fun, friendly people here. The staff were super helpful and also held lots of events for anyone that wanted to take part...and I made so brilliant friends which was great as I was traveling alone! I had the best time here and will definitely be staying here again!!!"

"Sing Yuet Hostel is one of the cheapest hostel near the central of Hong Kong. With the night markets (Ladies' Market, Fa Yuen Street etc.) just below the hostel and the hostel being a stone throw's away from the Mong Kok MTR, you could hardly find any other hostels with better location at this price range. Even though it is close to the night market, the room doesn't feel noisy at all during weekdays and I was able to sleep peacefully. During the weekends of my stay, people on the street had an open-air karaoke after around 6 pm which made it hard for me to take a short rest. Not sure if this happens every weekend or if it was just a one-time event but the noise died down before 10.30 pm. Though cheap, the hostel offers a good place for a comfortable sleep as the rooms are kept clean by the staff. The furnishing looks new and the door has an electronic lock too. That being said, I do not think that the room is suitable for everyone as the room and the toilet/bathroom could be rather cramp especially to those with bigger size but this is typical for a budget hostel in Hong Kong. Even though the pillows, blankets and the beds are not of the highest quality, I do not feel any discomfort while using them. As for the facilities, do not expect sauna, swimming pools or other luxurious facilities and you should be fine. It has water machines on each floor that could provide hot or cold water. The hostel also provides free toothbrushes and toothpaste everyday. The towels are also changed daily. To summarize, the hostel is a very good budget hostel that provides all basic necessities for a typical traveler. It is clean and it has all the basic facilities. On top of it, it has a team of friendly staff which was something that I really appreciated. I will definitely come back here for my second trip to Hong Kong."

"Urbanpack was great! You get your own bed with a little cabinet next to it where you can stash your things. I got top bunk and I had quite a difficult time getting on it. (My wardrobe contained skirts and dresses). Also, it was just a tiny bit too warm for me. The shared space was nice. So was the bathroom. Evrything was clean and orderly. Free coffee and toiletries. No towels though! Towel rental is 15 HKD. The staff was nice and accomodating. They give out free tours but I wasn't able to join any. The MTR was right in front of Haiphong Mansion! And the A21 bus stops on Nathan Road which is a few steps away. Haiphong Mansion itself looked a bit run down but I guess that's how "mansions" in Hong Kong look anyway. They have a few units on different floors. I stayed on the fifth. I wasn't really expecting much from this place. Quite liked it though. Would definitely stay here if I ever travelled to Hong Kong alone again."

"It was my first time as a solo female traveler in a hostel, and I was gladly surprised. The female bedroom is organized, very clean, and only accessible through the use of the card key, which guarantees safety, as well as the locker located inside the cabin. The restroom inside the bedroom is always clean, they provide toiletries and the showers are great. I didn't get to explore the neighborhood, but the hostel is right beside bus stops that can take you wherever you want in Hong Kong! The staff was very nice, made me feel very welcomed , and was always very happy to help when I needed directions. Overall great place! If I ever go back to Hong Kong I will for sure stay there again! "I'm actually quite choosy when it comes to 'selecting' the right place to stay when I travel backpacking abroad. I don't only just stay the night, but also like to experience, get inspired and just be happy to be there. I noticed most of the accommodation in Hong Kong are old-looking (yet high/expensive rates per night). Thank God I found Wontonmeen, just what I was looking for! First when I saw the photos online, I knew that's exactly my kind of place to stay! The place is very cool, industrial chic and so cozy. I loved the interior and how super-creative the owner (Patricia) is to design the place with fresh ideas; those steel framed beds, light bulbs and single handle door knobs. So trendy! Location-wise, Wontonmeen is strategically located by the road side (easy to find using apps) and not far away from the nearest MTR station and markets. Downstairs (first floor) there's a cool cafe and art gallery/studio behind the room to hang out. The owner, Patricia is super nice and friendly too! I will definitely come back again soon!"

"It was our first time to travel in Hong Kong. and was really impressed with this hostel. The place itself was basic with 2 single beds, an AC, hot/cold shower, free soap/shampoo. The staff is friendly and accommodating. They have free potable hot water at the lobby. Just 1 block away from the Mongkok MTR (Take Exit D2). Near 7Eleven, street food stalls, Money exchange shops, ladies market, sneakers street. Actually the area where the Sincere House is located is really bustling with people, shops, food stalls! I will definitely stay here again! "

"It was my first time to travel abroad and me and my colleague have limited budget hence we have to book in a cheaper place where we could stay for four days and three nights. We booked at Ashoka Hostel because based on my readings, they got good reviews and positive feedbacks from tourists who have been there. We weren’t wrong for checking-in at Ashoka. When we arrived, we were greeted and treated nicely by the hotel staff. They were pleasant and helpful. Our room was cozy, quite small but it was clean and well ventilated. It has aircon and electric fan, exhaust fan in the bathroom, telephone and hot and cold shower. Photoholics can also upload photos of their everyday adventure in Hong Kong, easier and faster because of the hotel’s speedy wifi connection. "
