The hotel's location very close to the Liverpool Lime Street railway station was superb. However there were a number of areas in which the hotel fell short of expectations. Foremost was that I specifically requested a 'quiet room'. Unfortunately the room we received turned out to be street facing and located just above the outside bar area. There was yelling and screaming from the area at 11.30pm, 1.30am and 4.00am, and all vehicle moving up or down the street were very easily heard all of the night. The windows in the hotel were definitely only single panes of glass, not doubled glazed. The toilet was one of the worst I have ever encountered. It took anywhere from a minimum of three flushes and more to flush the toilet. The wooden board on top of the desk that held the power points was 'wobbly'. It certainly didn't seem to be very safe. There was torn wallpaper in the room and a hole in the wall next to one of the beds. The receptionist upon arrival gave us the impression that we were an interruption to her day and she was not very welcoming at all. Not a very good first impression of the hotel. It is certainly not a hotel I would return to.
A very nice clean hotel with friendly helpful staff. Our 'double cabin' room was very clean and adequate enough for myself and my husband. It had a shower over the bath which was fine for us but could be a bit tricky to get in and out of for some people, especially as there are no handles on the wall to steady yourself, they are only on the bath. Our room faced Lime Street Station, which was ok when the windows were closed but the station announcements were very loud when you opened the window for some air. Unfortunately there is no air conditioning in the room but there was a fan provided, which we didn't need. Breakfast was great, served in a lovely separate room to the restaurant. Cereals, yoghurt, fruit, cheese, crackers, eggs, ham and pastries were to help yourself but the cooked breakfast was from a separate section, with the food items requested, served to you by the staff. Plenty of choice and big enough portions served, though some people asked for bigger portions and that seemed no trouble too. We ate in the restaurant one night using the voucher we'd been given by the hotel and the food was very nice and great value with 25%off. The location of the hotel is great for people who like walking everywhere, especially to the main shopping area and to the Albert Dock and all the tourist attractions. The area around the hotel is not the most picturesque but we always felt safe walking around. The free car park was a real bonus. We really enjoyed our stay at The Liner and visiting Liverpool.
Wonderful location with secure parking included. Perfect for our needs. We arrived in Liverpool before check in time but were able to park our car and catch an exhibition at the Liverpool Museum before it closed. Very friendly and helpful reception staff - Danielle tried to change our twin to a double - I'd somehow booked a twin in error - no double available for our first night (a busy Friday) but she offered to change us for the Saturday night. We decided to stay in the twin for both nights but appreciated her efforts. It was a little cold in our room at first but warmed up by the evening and was comfortable for the rest of our stay. Comfy bed. We returned to our room after being out to lunch on Saturday as housekeeping were finishing servicing our room - the male member of staff was friendly and helpful. This hotel is good value for money especially as parking is included in the price. We will return.
a slightly different perspective. I booked a Deluxe room some time ago through Agoda, and requested a room with a walk-in shower due to the majority of bedrooms only having a shower over a bath. On arrival, we were warmly received by Peter, and it became evident that this room type is limited. We were allocated room 268 on the 2nd floor, not exactly friendly for those who have mobility issues, as it is the last room at the end of the corridor. We found the room, bed and bathroom acceptable and clean, but no view, only a fairly high window overlooking the roof to what we now know is the function room below! This brings me on to our next issue, returning to the room at around 10:30pm, the noise from the function room below felt like we were in there with them. No problem with a function at all, but the noise reverberated through the headboard, this combined with the noise of what sounded like a generator at 15 minute intervals for around 5 minutes (which we found out is an air conditioning unit for the Function Room this morning) did give me a headache. The function ended promptly at 12 midnight, but the air conditioner continued to run until around 1am. We did ask to be moved to a quieter room, and were told that the Hotel was fully booked this weekend. We don’t live too far away on the Wirral and could quite easily have driven home from our event, but having booked the room as a surprise for my husband, I feel sorely let down. We even contemplated leaving and going home, giving it until 1am to see if it all calmed down, which fortunately it did. We’ve also experienced terrible difficulties using the lifts this morning with them being full of guests each time they reached our floor, the stairs not being an option meant a seriously lengthy wait. The bonus to this Hotel though is the free car parking, but don’t think even this will attract us back. A nice treat turned into a bit of a disappointment, I’d say beware if like me, your mobility is compromised and/or you need quiet to rest & recouperate following any exertion, a lesson learnt for me.

“Wonderful friendly staff”
Hotels exterior is hiding a hidden gem. The Liner is quirky with its nautical theme, and a bit dated in places, BUT, it’s spotlessly clean, the rooms are very comfortable, and the staff are always helpful and friendly. Free parking, or if you’re travelling by train it’s right next to the station. The Seven Seas Restaurant is wonderful too.
