“A good choice near Connaught Place”
This was my first time in The Lalit New Delhi and my check-in experience wasn't great - possibly I had a trainee? I had booked a club room with Club Lounge privileges, but nothing about that was mentioned as I checked in. So I asked at what time cocktails and canapes would be served in the club lounge and was told from 4:00pm to 6:00pm - whereas, as I later discovered, in fact it's actually 5:30pm to 7:00pm. No further information was volunteered about any other possible benefits of staying in a club room. Maybe there were none? The club lounge space was quite small, but when I was there, there were no more than 6 or 7 people. I had been wondering whether the spirits on offer would be local brands, but in fact they were all well-known western brands. The two hot food snacks were good, but the mini sandwiches on offer were a bit curled up at the edges! The room itself was fine, and on a very high floor as I had requested. Everywhere in the hotel was spotlessly clean and gleaming. Breakfast was OK, but not up to the standard I had expected, and bizarrely there was no bacon available. If this was a 3 or 4 star hotel in the South of India I would not have been surprised, but for a 5 star hotel in the capital city it seemed a bit strange. I was asked to have breakfast in an upstairs overflow area, and perhaps I missed some of the options as a result. There were probably more business guests than tourists staying here, and I think that may be how the hotel positions itself, but as a tourist it worked perfectly well for me, being a 10 minute walk from Connaught Place and only 5 minutes to the nearest metro station. I would definitely consider staying here again.
