Location”
Stayed for one night as we could not get our staff to extend at the White Inn. Well worn but this time operational with hot water after having insisted on getting a "warm water room". Would stay again simply because of its location.

Disgusting Bathroom”
Had a last minute one night layover while travelling. The Tv was not watchable, the bathroom was dirty. The bath itself was cracked and looked like it would collapse if I got in it. Or I would cut myself on the jagged edges. No hot water in the morning, decided not to risk a shower. Luckily only a 2 hour drive home. Not impressed.

Working visit in Nong Khai”
This well-worn hotel certainly has seen better days. No hot water throughout our stay of six nights in both room, the rooftop restaurant remarkably good, the staff elsewhere in the hotel all untrained and not attentive. The lobby looks like the entrance to Hades dungeon but, as Nong Khai was completely booked out, we had no other choice. The Karaoke in the back was also not to everybody's liking and the staff, being addressed with the issue, just giggled. Might use it again but would insist on warm water in the bathroom and taking rooms NOT facing the Karaoke screamers.

HOUSE OF HORROR ”
Totally abandoned 1960s gala palace. Pool out of order, breakfast non-existent, staff knows no English. Agoda should be ashamed for promoting this with fake photos of swimming pool!

Run-down luxury hotel, now closer to feeling like a haunted hotel”
My first impression upon arriving at the hotel was that it seemed abandoned. My second impression was that reminded me of my first car - a Buick Regal. It was a luxury car but came at an inexpensive price due to age taking it's toll so that it was no longer a luxury experience. At some point, a luxury hotel decides whether it will try to maintain high standards, or if it will give up. Feels like this one gave up. So, the positive side is that the price is low, and if you keep your expectations low you won't be disappointed. If "feeling" or aesthetics (or stains) are not important to you then this hotel is fine. The staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful.

This place is unacceptable to stay in in its present condition”
On arriving at the Hotel i noticed the outside grounds and garden where below standard. Inside at reception they had no record of our booking. They informed us that they had no air conditioned room or no breakfast for us, 2 adults and 2 children. On an inspection of the Hotel i noticed it was unsuitable for our use, outside the swimming pool was green with algae and unfit for use. The surrounding areas where dirty and unsuitable. This Hotel was below the standard expected, a disgrace.

Dissapointed”
I would not recommend this hotel, when you look at the photos it looks very nice but that’s it !!! When you first enter there is a very large fish tank and the water looks like it has never been cleaned which will give you an idea what to expect from the rest of the hotel in its day this hotel must of been very nice but without doubt is in serious need of a revamp the bathroom is awful the tv is from the 70s the beds are in need of changing all in all there are many more nicer places to stay

Having previously booked the City Hotel was looking for something a little better in quality but this turned out to be a bad decision. Drove by the Hotel twice before seeing the sign. The hotel was more expensive and advertised a swimming pool. The Mekong River was probably cleaner than this green lagoon. Hotel 30-years past its sell by date. Big spacious rooms around 50 square metres but everything dated and a 20th Century TV. Also too far to walk to the nearest bars and restaurants into town across a busy highway with no footpath. Even though I was the only person down for breakfast it took more than 20-minutes to serve 2-fried eggs. The coffee was also in plastic cups. Would book the White Inn opposite the City Hotel next time I visit Nongkhai.

Hotel seems abandoned and deteriorating”
In its day, it may have been grand...but it's awful now! It's dark and moldy. The halls are dark. The rooms are dilapidated. The bathtub was old and moldy. The shower stream of water was cold and intense. The room curtains were ancient. The wallpaper was dirty and torn in places. The breakfast was terrible. It's hard to believe Agoda even lists it!

Wasted Potential”
The hotel location is good, it has a view on the Mekong river, and it has the size and layout for attracting guests. Unfortunately the interiors have been left to slowly fall apart, the staff is at minimum, the facilities are supplied with the bare minimum; the end result is a place that is justifying rock bottom low rates and don't attract repeated visits. On arrival there was no one visible but at the front desk, and the reservation couldn't be found before a multi-person search in the various systems for keeping track of these things. The room, bed sheets and bathroom were clean. The furniture, the switches, the closets, the toilet/sink/bath all looked old and very tired. At the rooftop restaurant, the wooden furniture is on its last stretch, with many pieces having already cracked or rot away. The breakfast buffet is mostly processed food, powder juices and the likes. The water supply had let go in the morning of the second day, meaning that there were no toilets, no showers, little breakfast, and no indication of when the water would come back. Given that situation we left early to find a better palce to start the day. The front desk did wish us a good day as we checked out.
