"I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Shimoda Tokyu Hotel. I stayed one night in a double room with view over the ocean for a discount of more than 70% so it was cheap for this kind of service. The room was comfortable with great products in the bathroom, comfy robe, towels and bed linen, as well as free hot drinks and water bottles. The best part were probably the breakfast and the onsen with view over the ocean. What a dream! For extra fees, you can book massages and other beauty service. The lady who was there could speak English and really tailored the massage to my needs, which I really appreciated. Reception staff generally speaks (excellent) English but not everybody. I only wish I had knew that the hotel had a shuttle bus from / to the station as I walked to reach the hotel. It was a lovely walk but a very steep one, upon hills. I would definitely go back to Shimoda Tokyu Hotel if I can get the same deal."

"Start from Shuttle bus. Driver friendly and helpful. Check in process. Well prepared for our arrival. Rather than stand at counter, we completed the whole process by sitting at desk with a very kindly speaking staff. Staff took us to our room, checked and changed the pajama size for my little one while explaining all hotel facilities. Dinner is a highlight. What a feast! You definitely don't want to miss out. A set meal plus choices of hot dishes and desserts. Onsen, pretty much same as other onsen hotels. The room is cosy. The view from the room is fantastic. Tatami nice and comfortable, air-conditioning is adjustable. Breakfast variety wise is reasonable. A shop between two restaurants sells quite many stuff, prices are the same as outside. Check out process is very efficient. When we sat on the shuttle bus, a staff helped us put luggage in the bus then ran back into the hotel, surprisly gave my girl a small handmade souvenir. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel "

"The location is a little away from the train station, but the town of Shimoda isn't too big anyway. The hotel facilities are great! My room had a beautiful view of the beach and an outdoor bathtub with onsen water. The public onsen, especially the outdoor one that's on top of a trail walk, was also just wonderful! The staffs didn't speak too much English but they offered great hospitality! A great vacation place"

"One has to access this Ryokan by car as it is set in a neighborhood recessed deep in the residential valley above Shimoda. The Ryokan looks wonderful and traditional, then involves walking thru a tunnel path to the rooms. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and dining was provided in a room next door with a wonderful seafood spread (and surprisingly affordable!). The onsen was small, clean, and private, separate one for men and women, with access to an outside onsen beneath a spreading maple tree and bamboos. I found this Ryokan very relaxing and refreshing, with a very friendly and excellent older Ryokan staff..."
