It was a satisfying accommodation.”
The facilities were well-maintained and clean, and the staff were very friendly. There was a convenience store right next to the alley, which was great for buying snacks or late-night meals during breaks. The location was also optimal, as it was close to the train station and bus stop, and walking through places like Yasaka Shrine and Gion made for a great sightseeing route. I would definitely consider revisiting if I ever go back to Kyoto. If I had to nitpick, the assigned space was just the size of a bed, so if you have a suitcase larger than a medium size, you would have to leave it in the storage area next to the lounge or in the corridor in front of the bed. Also, if you are assigned to the top bunk, the ladder is almost vertical, so you need to be careful when going up and down, especially if you are tired from climbing Mount Inari earlier that day. These were minor inconveniences, but they were noticeable.
Great stay for solo travellers in Kyoto! ”
Great place to stay for solo travellers in Kyoto! The location is right in the heart of the historic Gion district, with bus and subway stops close by. I stayed in a lower bunk on the women's only floor. The bed is about a twin size, but the space itself was bigger than I expected. I'm about 153 cm and could sit up comfortably without bumping my head on the ceiling. While there were 24 beds in my room, I found it was pretty quiet. Lights are out at 10 pm, and quiet hours are from midnight to 6 am. There were keycard-locked female only showers on my floor that were cleaned daily. There were plenty of shower stalls and toilets, so I never had to wait for a bathroom. The facilities are very clean. Towels, bikes, adapters and more can be rented from the front desk. Overall a great and reasonably priced stay!
Cozy Capsule Hotel in the Quiet Side of Gion”
It is a capsule hotel but "each" capsule is spacious enough to sit in lay out your medium-sized luggage and backpack. The bed and temperature during my stay is comfortable. Facilities are complete and always clean especially the toilet. The lobby or lounge area has a sink, water dispenser, coffee machine, microwave, and tables for your meals. Ryokan Hostel Gion is perfect for visitors who want a peaceful stay as fellow guests are quiet enough during the night. Overall, my stay of 4 nights have been great! Thank you very much! Easy accessibility because the Hotel is near Sanjo train station. There is a Lawson Store 100 and coin laundry just outside. The hotel is situated in a quiet corner of Gion. Bars, pubs, and Shirakawa Lane are just a few minutes away. You may have to get out around 10:00am to 3:00pm because that is the staff's cleaning time. It is kinda awkward that you are sitting in your bunk while they are cleaning the empty bunks and vacuuming the floor. The only problem I've encountered is the late check-in cut-off at 12:00am (which is not the hotel's fault because my plane was delayed). I had to wait for a guest to open the locked door at 11:50am so I can reach the reception area. Still, thank you for accommodating me even if I am late. Check-out was easy; just deposit your keycard to the receptionist.
