      “Nanzenji's best ryokan.”

This is my third stay at a ryokan in Kyoto, and it has been the most satisfying among those I have visited. The management is well-maintained, and the cleanliness and garden conditions are good. The staff is very warm and friendly. There are staff members who can speak English. I sent a few emails before arriving and was anxious because I did not receive a reply, but since they answer phone calls well, I recommend calling if you need to communicate with the hotel. Within a 10-minute walk from the accommodation, there are plenty of great restaurants such as the Michelin 3-star Hyotei, Junsei where you can eat yudofu, and Blue Bottle. There are also tourist spots like Ginkakuji and Nanzenji within walking distance, and it is located only 20 minutes by taxi from Kyoto Station, which is very convenient. If I come to Kyoto again in the future, I will probably stay here. Thank you to the kind hostess and staff who treated us well. Thanks to you, I created precious memories with my family.

This is an extraordinarily elegant and well-considered ryokan located in a convenient part of this wonderful city. The staff are gracious and helpful. We can’t recommend it highly enough.

      “Traditional experience”

The first thing that stood out to me was the simplicity of the architecture. It’s very calming and peaceful inside and outside of the house. They’ve got a huge bathtub that is all wooden, a very nice set up. The staff is extremely pleasant and kind.

      “Experience traditional Japanese living”

This is a 100 yo house belonging to an aristocratic Japanese family. Beautiful zen garden was a visual delight. Family bath in a cedar tub was very relaxing. Futons for sleeping were clean and comfortable. No food served. Location is a bit off the popular spots in Kyoto. Would recommend without any hesitation!

      “Nice & Clean”

Room is ok, staffs are excellent but facilities could be better with this price. (freezing in bathroom & restroom). Would be the best if we can have breakfast while enjoying their nice garden view.
