Trat Province hotels & places to stay

When we arrived, we were surprised to find out that our room building was across the main street that runs through Koh Chang, not on the beach side. I had the impression we would be on the beach side but it was just the unclear hotel map on the kacha website that led me to believe that. We asked if we could stay on the beach side and they informed us they were fully booked, so we headed across the street to see our reserved family suite. My mother has bad knees and they were taking us to our reserved room on the third floor. They do not have elevators so it was going to be impossible for my mother to walk up and down 3 flights everyday. the Kacha staff were quick to amend this for us and told us a ground floor family suite would be ready in thirty minutes. When we walked into our family suite room, we were all amazed! The room was absolutely gorgeous with 2 queen sized beds (a large sofa had been turned into a bed and was very comfortable for 2 to sleep in) and we had 2 bathrooms. For our family group of 4, this was a lovely surprise! Our room faced the beautiful blue tiled pool with steps leading down to it. The cleaning staff left a little fresh fruit and juice for us everyday and provided drinking water. We loved the room, it was really perfect for our family. We've stayed at many beach hotels and this family room setup was the best we have experienced. The new building is worth the crossing of the street everyday to the beach as the majority of rooms on the beachside look quite run down in comparison. Breakfast buffet was provided for all 4 of us in our room rate, a lovely surprise considering most hotels only give 2 breakfast coupons and extras must pay. As it was busy Xmas and new years time, the hotel was fully booked and breakfast was busy. We sometimes had to wait for a table to leave before we could sit down. The food was delicious though, offering a variety of western and asian breakfast dishes and fresh fruit. The beach at white sand bea

This is a brand new hotel. At the time of writing this review this is the BEST hotel on Koh Chang that I have ever stayed at and I visit there quite often and have stayed in all the other top hotels and resorts on the island. This is the hotel I will now be using from now on, until another winner comes along and takes its crown. The rooms are superb and very spacious. The beds are super comfy! I do recommend you upgrade to a Sea View room, you won't regret it, totally worth the extra money. The cheaper rooms are located away from the main building and sea across the road on another block. The swimming pool is awesome. Perfect for swimming lengths its huge. The location is excellent with access by steps straight into the sea for swimming. As I stated the hotel is brand new and there are a few little things that need ironing out but this is to be expected and I will sure be visiting this fabulous place again. The perfect place to relax and chill out!!

My wife had stayed here many years ago and felt its resort status and location were going to be the same. The location of the resort on that portion of Koh Chang beach was the best. It was located on a protective cove so the scene was serene. The breakfast buffet was excellent with more food items than could be imagined. We used the beachfront restaurant for lunch and refreshing drinks, all in a beautiful atmosphere. The evening meal, seafood and barbeque was a little pricey so one could go to a very nice seafood restaurant a short distance away from the resort. If one has a car, one needs to explore the island as far as one can go along the windward side. You reach Koh Chang by ferry including your car (if you have one.) There are sontels (truck taxis) in abundance. We will come back. The resort hotel is better than its 3-star rating. If you need internet access, for 100 baht you can buy a 30 minute card from the mini-mart next to registration and the hotel provides you with several computers.

The hotel at a year old is still being built. Overall we enjoyed this hotel. Rooms are beautifully designed and comfortable. Individual remote controlled a/c does it's job well. Lobby and beach restaurants are excelllent. Beautiful beach, killer sunsets. Stangely the pool was built at the lobby level of the resort instead of down the hill at the beach which makes it almost useless. Pier arrival and access roads to the hotel are not for the faint of heart. The tide level in the afternoon when we arrived required a short step climb onto the pier but bags were handled by boat and beach staff. Cons: Internet reception was lousy except near the lobby and beach restaurant. Strange since they are equipped with high definition tv reception. The hotel like most of the hotels in Koh Kood is isolated from what little there is to do on the island. No nightlife to speak of. We rented a hotel moterbike for two days to see the island and it was well worth it. A note of caution however, I have been riding all types of motorcycles for forty years and still the rutted dirt "road" from the hotel to the "highway" was was a challenge for me with two of us on board. Part of the island's roads are not paved and the ones that are are very narrow. Use extreme caution, riding here the roads take a toll on the bikes. We got a flat tire going down a hill and barely skidded into a motorbike repair shop. My girlfriend is Thai so we got fixed for 5 bucks and were on our way 20 minutes later. Rustic might be a good way to describe the few villages and beautiful waterfalls. There are a few police posts and even a small hospital with an ambulance but I would advise being in good health before coming here to avoid a medical evac for anything serious. At night you are stuck at the resort with it's excellent restaurant. Even I wouldn't venture out on that road at night on a motorbike which is also against their policy. Not that there is anyplace to go. Overall good experience for 4-5 days max.

The Dewa is just awesome. Rooms are specious with comfortable beds, a bathroom with rainshower, bathtub and all you need. The balcony is spacious with comfortable seats. The service is very discrete, staff is super friendly. The breakfast is great with fresh juice up on your needs, eggs every style, soups, western bread, fruits and so on. The pool and beach are awesome and not overloaded at all and you may even have Spa treatements at the beach. In General this is a Perfect Honeymoon Hotel, there were also a lot of families with small Kids. Getting there from Trat Airport is easy as well. There is a mini bus shuttle or a hotel pick-up (a bit more pricy). In the area around are some nice restaurants / streetfood and small super markets.

The Koh Kood Paradise Beach Resort was exactly as we had hoped it would be. Quiet with a lovely beach. We booked an ocean front cottage which was expensive but worth it to wake up each day and see the ocean. The resort is remote and you need to rent a motorbike to get around. We tried walking into the village for dinner one night and it was very dark, hot and about 1.5 kms. Not worth it. Note: there are two ATMs on the island and one would not work with our North American card. Apparently the other would but we didn’t get to it. The resort has a lovely pool, kayaks, and 1 stand up paddle board. The bay is quiet and the water is warm so no need to swim anywhere else. There are poolside chairs, beach chairs and massage and gym on site. The hotel booked a snorkel trip to another island which was well worth it.

This hotel although not located on the beach is well worth staying at. It has a beautiful feel because of the garden design and the continuous sound of water bubbling from the lakes/pool fountains.At night tasteful jazz music is played in the hotel restauran. You can hire a motor bike from the and travel to town or the beach to which the hotel offers free shuttle buses.If you are going to Trat airport I recommend to arrange a private taxi service with the hotel if you can afford it. The taxi will take you to the pier then transport you directly to Trat airport.

I stayed for a week in the Erawan hotel. As they were full on arrival I had one night in the Cookies hotel next door. The difference in quality and standard was clear to see. I had a great time from start to finish,food service amenities etc. A special mention to the manager who was warm,friendly and welcoming and making my travel from the hotel to Trat airport seamless and efficient. Both he and his staff were excellent with their hospitality feeling so genuine, not something you find in many places nowadays....

This was like a dream coming true; staying at a place which has best of everything to offer which you would be thinking while making a booking. Its located on the main road, which is a big plus knowing that this is a beach resort. Has a quick, responsive, responsible, amiable staff which will go out all the way to make you feel special. The hotel will make every effort to not to let you feel bad about your decision of choosing this as your place to stay. Has one of the best beaches with an amazing view. And possibly one of the cleanest in Koh Chang with beautiful clear water as we happened to stay at a neighboring Four Star, just after this and except for a resounding name it was a sheer contrast to our earlier experience at Paradise Resort. The room service was punctual, regular and proficient in their work. Food at the Hotel's restaurant was of very nice quality (if not the best) since we are no Thai so really difficult making a judgment for us, but were comprehensively satiated by the sumptuous food available at a good discount. There were some renovations going on at the children's pool next to the adult pool which was in proper working. Will definitely recommend this place to all our friends. We will miss you KCPR till we meet again. Well done to all the people making it happen and keep up the good work! Bravos!

We had just booked one night in this hotel before going to ko kood. Knowing we would find other available hotels during the green season if this one was disappointing. So the first day, we rented a motorbike and visited a few other pre-selected hotels on various beaches of the island to see if they would be better. In the end, Away appeared to be the best choice. Location is very good with the river to one of the 3 waterfalls, nice beach, close to best rated bars and restaurants, bungalows are nice (ocean front) and clean. Tip: unless you really feel uncomfortable with it, renting a motorbike in ko kood is by far the best way to make the most of your stay there(beaches, villages, waterfalls, restaurants,...). Roads are safe compared to more developed parts of Thailand.

Barali is perfection. I have never stayed anywhere better, as relaxing and inspiring, or felt so safe. The location is divine with only a few people enjoying the pretty palm tree beach and calm sea. The silky smooth fine white sand beach is postcard perfect encompassing the delightfully calm archipelago ambience. The entire Klong Prao bay is sheltered so has tiny waves with crystal clear water. The sea is warm and it's possible to walk out a long way before it becomes too deep to stand. On our first day two photo shoots were happening up the beach as we walked towards a gentle fascinating estuary with glow flies at dusk. The hotel is mosquito controlled. I think the resort was fully booked but it was silent and difficult to realise any one else was staying. Motorbikes are available and it is easy to explore waterfalls, amazing unique piers or 'trendy', slightly busier, beaches. I enjoyed seeing White-Bellied Sea-Eagles, fishing and Bhaminy Kite. The Barali breakfast house is five star architecturally. The food is brilliant and the polite and respectful staff are ten star! The pool is perfection too. Our large house was like stepping into a scene from tomb raider because the marble bath and shower are as big as an en-suite private swimming pool. It is not possible to describe in English words the sophistication of this resort. So just don't tell any one about this secret paradise. Nathan Craske

My wife and I live in Bangkok but go away a couple of times a month to escape the hustle and bustle and oppressive heat of the metropolis. This was our first visit to Koh Chang and the first thing you notice is that the proximity of the hotel to the sea keeps things cool. The hotel itself is modern and in a good state of repair. The room was nice and big with a jacuzzi and huge balcony. Both swimming pools were clean and the main pool by the hotel`s private beach had plenty of sun loungers and staff on duty. The beach was sandy and very clean and the gardens were lush. The hotel and surroundings were very quiet. Only downside was that breakfast wasn`t included and for the sake of all those staff on duty in the restaurant it wouldn`t cost much to include it as the restaurant was empty at breakfast time.

Brand new resort, very nice facilities, nice beach (best on island?), nice remote location (you can rent moped at hotel). Best of all was the extremely friendly, welcoming and personal “service” from personnel and family who runs the place. They are very passionate about ensuring best guest experience. Did not feel like “service”, but rather people really caring about your stay. Hope that never changes. Thanks you for an excellent stay

This hotel is not located near busy bars and beach goers. There's not much touristy shops located nearby, which I liked. The bakery on the main road is no longer open. The staff were very helpful. They offer wifi for a fee. I think it was 200 baht/hour. But, you can use their computers next to the main lobby area if you don't bring a laptop. The gardens, ponds, and walkways are beautiful. I got an awesome picture when I spotted a cat who just caught a fish from their pond. The staff upgraded my room from a superior to a deluxe closer to the beach for free without my asking. Room service was prompt. The tour guide, Jason, was fun to chat with while waiting for transfers. I didn't realize Tropicana had tour programs available. I booked a roundtrip transfer to/from airport (350 baht/each way includes ferry fee), AWESOME jungle/elephant trek (Tan Trekking) and Tree Top Adventure through Evolution Tours; which is located down the street less than a five minute walk. The pool is gorgeous. The massage on the beach is so worth the additional cost compared to one on the roadside. Maneejan, their massage therapist, is older and very experienced! As a massage therapist, I have to say, she gave me the BEST traditional Thai massages I've ever had!!! If you want her to stay later, just let her know in advance. Even though they advertise massages till 9PM, usually they leave earlier around 4 or 5PM. Personally, I preferred their Thai food over their western dishes.

Hotel is really nice, sunset is right in front of it an amazing. They also provide a service to bring you back to Bangkok with speed boat to the coast/ minivan very well organized for 900thb. Can rent kayak and paddle board. Restaurant is good and cheap. Bad points are: breakfast is really, really poor for a hotel this price, if you like eating sweet things in the morning you will eat nothing. Staff is quite slow and unorganized, but friendly.

The room we have booked is right next to the beach and it stunning as you can lay down on the bed and look at the beach all day. Also, there are upper floor you can spend your time look over the sea to Kham island (small island nearby). If you feel like doing an exercise you can grab a free kayak of 2 hours per client per day and just paddling across the sea to Kham island. It took me 20 mins to paddle across. Staffs are all lovely, with the option of good pool. The restaurant is very very nice and the price of the food is, considering cheap, compare to the same class of hotel. You will also have a very big bath room with option to bath or shower. All I was looking for is the nice few days to relax with my girlfriend and it made our trip fantastic with good food every day.

(NOTE: Stay here during slow season) Amazing to have this small modern hotel on a remote island like Koh Mak. Modern room with all the trimmings (hot shower;satellite TV; free wi-fi,infinity pool..) True, it has to have the best view on the island; however,to get to the beach it is a 15 minute walk away from your area. Also (detail here)if I was the architect-designer of the hotel,I would have placed the length of the hotel (rooms) facing the beautiful sea instead side-ways. I would have place the pool in front of the hotel,& the restaurant on top (4th floor). But designers many not understand that people like privacy. From you balcony you can see the sea at an angle and into your neighbor balcony, (poor design). From your balcony you look over the pool, and to the restaurant. Not much privacy, but this is a minor detail for some people. So, no privacy on the balcony, people at the open air restaurant, infinity pool can look up and see you including your neighbors in the next room. I like privacy when I am on the balcony. So I give the architect low marks when designing the layout. It is a small plot of land but the 6 rooms on each floor could have faced the sea instead of sideways. It was slow season but... the restaurant staff should be trained better in how to take care of customer. You do not deliver a plate of rice before you place the eating utensils or placemat. (DUH) You do not sit there and look at your phone making the customer wait to order another dish or beer. The food was excellent when it was delivered, but the restaurant lacked professional training. Sad for such a classy place. --but this is Thailand and most Bangkok owners do not believe in paying good salary for good staff or doing good training. They think staff will learn through osmosis. The manager (Thai woman that spoke good English ) was above the norm-fantastic. I even saw her helping out in the restaurant and mopping the deck after the rain. That is a good manager!!!!!

Booked for me and friends because of location price and proximity to the beach, the hotel looked great for the money then when we arrived we told we were not in main hotel but a 5 storey one star block 350 yards across a main road, this was not cool and although the room was clean and had ac the shower had a mind of its own in every room, boiling hot then cold fast then trickle great ! The good points are lovely beach great staff please make sure you know where your room is as I feel I could have got similar closer to beach for half the money

Nirvana resort was exactly that - a little slice of heaven perfectly situated amongst two beautiful beaches. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and the manager Tom is always available to give great advice on tours, activities etc. The resort arranges transfers to and from the main Pier and some private beaches in the area and day trips. They also assist with finding and booking tours and activities all over the island. The whole resort has been beautifully decorated and landscaped, and the rooms are tastefully decorated with thai and balinese style. Very spacious and very clean with stunning views of both the sunrise (oceanfront views) and sunset (on resort's own boardwalk). The area of Bang Bao itself is visually stunning with some of the best fresh seafood you will taste anywhere in the world! It is a quiet town at the far South of Koh Chang, with a real charm and relaxing feel. Being the main access point to the Southern islands for snorkelling, fishing and diving, Nirvana resort was the ideal location for booking these tours and activities. The restaurant at Nirvana sits on the water (stilts) with a lovely view of the main pier and bay. The food is delicious and both breakfast and dinner menus were amazing. (We would recommend trying the french toast for breakfast - simply amazing!) The resort has a lovely warm and friendly feel. It is a true gem and perfect for couples, honeymooners or families that prefer a quiet and relaxing place to stay. We enjoyed every part of our stay at Nirvana and even extended our stay! I would definitely stay here again!

this resort is managed by a wonderful caring couple. the pool is glorious and the white-sand beach is a few steps away from your room. at christmas time there was plenty of night life along the beach - i travelled with my adult son who found plenty of parties. the seafood at the pier is so fresh and cheap-the best i have ever had. just be sure that your driver finds out how to get to reception and is prepared to take you there. if you get taxis from the pier they don't like to take you down the track to the hotel, but will do so at a bargained price. if you don't have heavy bags, its a short walk along the beach from the road at the top of the beach and taxis can be found there all the time at peak periods. hire a motor bike and you have no worries. this hotel is no longer isolated as earlier reviewers have stated.

Perfect getaway vacation. The hotel is only one year old so the facilities are great. It's located on a beautiful beach (private for hotel guests), and offers kayaks and surfboards for guests. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room was super gorgeous and spacious, if you book the deluxe room, the mini-bar is free and refilled daily. Breakfast buffet is good, the restaurant doesn't have too many vegetarian options for other meals. They also host nice performances at nights (we saw a music and fire show). The hotel feels like a remote paradise, if you're looking for bars&parties, it's not for you as the hotel is the only thing around. If you're traveling from Tart, you can take the minibus to Cambodia, the driver will drop you by the hotel and they'll come to pick you up, you can also catch it on your way back to Trat. It costs 80 baht instead of 1,500 a taxi would.

This place was amazing! We arrived at the pier and there was no-one there to pick us up (we had arrived on the last boat in low season) but within a few minutes a local had rang the resort and a taxi (pick up truck) was on it's way to collect us. On arrival at the hotel and throughout our stay the staff were extremely helpful and attentive. The food was cooked beautifully and prices ranged from 100-400b for a dish. The restaurant overlooked the sea and breakfast was also served here - certainly a plesaant view to enjoy an evening drink or morning coffee. As in other reviews have mentioned when the tide was out it did leave beautiful rock pools to explore. The was a short beach where there was plenty of room to walk and collect shells. Personally perfect for a quiet walk at any point in the day. It is not a swimming beach but with the high number of jelly fish in and around Ko Mak I'm not sure I'd be wanting to swim anyway! There was a stunning infinity pool for those wanting to cool off during the day. The rooms were spacious and sportlessly clean. We had the jacuzzi room right on the beach with spectacular views and although not all the jets were working it certainly didn't spoil our enjoyment of the jacuzzi or the view. The decor was beautiful and the indoor and outdoor showers a lovely touch. We had a look at many of the other resorts on the island but I would definitely say that this is the best.

First of all you may face a confusion to find it, because this villa is part of Siam royal view resort and it is not mentioned anywhere in the booking as it is owned by private person. With some help of local people we have reached, but first we were disgusted with mouldy smell inside the villa, also it was told to us that there is a maid who is cleaning every 3 days. We were there 3 nights a we have never met her. In such kind of villa I would expect daily housekeeping. Actually the villa was not so bad, in case you ignore the fact that you have not a direct view to the sunrise, also it was taking time to turn on the water heater and the things like wash machine or dishwasher were not working at all. The resort was very good, but the private owner of the villa really needs to improve the services

The hotel is very new and modern, we only paid around £30 a night so it was very good value for money. Only criticisms would be; The staff do not speak very good English but are very friendly all the same. The pool bar is too expensive and the service was very slow. Apart from that, it was a great experience, the sushi in the Japanese restaurant was very fresh and they pool bar had a happy hour! Not only can you use the pool at the hotel but you can get a free shuttle down the road to a sister hotel and use their pool too. The smart-room control panel in the room that controlled all the lights and aircon was very convenient and something special for us, being travelers on a budget! We also looked at beach bungalows on the sea front, and they were around 1500 thb per night or more (the same, or more expensive than what we paid for the gallery) and in comparison the gallery was like a 5 star resort! We definitely would recommend booking the gallery especially for the discounted price on agoda - when we asked the price of an extra night at reception, it was 2047 thb

When first approaching the hotel, we thought we made a big mistake. From the outside it looks run down and the name also says Siam Royal View which at no where it mentioned the name Peninsula Beach. Well, the hotel is there at the end of road and check in is straight forward. The room is much nicer than the photos and tastefully decorated. The hotel sales info and phtos really let down from the actual. It was really a pieceful stay and the environment really quiet and nice. The ocean water is clean, clear and calm. One can walk 10-15 meters into the sea and the depth is around 1 meter plus. Suggest to walk around the environment because there are multiple beaches around the hotel. Hotel is close to ferry terminal but far away from where all the shops are located. In our case not an issue due to we had our own transportation. Overall it was a excellent stay and next return will definitely stay here for longer period.
