North East, England hotels & accommodations

My wife and I booked and stayed at the Royal Station Hotel, and we were thoroughly impressed with our stay there. In fact the 5 star ratings we gave it are a fair reflection of what we experienced there. Upon our arrival we were upgraded to a suite, and the suite was actually bigger than our apartment in Hong Kong. The true comfort and peace and quiet was great, with i...

Lovely hotel, very central right across from train station ...lots of bars & restaurants around. The room was nice apart from the cracked sink in the bathroom, also there was 3 of us and the room was set up for two ....only 2 cups for tea/ coffee plus 2 glasses in bathroom for brushing teeth..phoned down to reception who said they would get some up ASAP....but left ...

I would describe the hotel room as being minimalist functional with charm. A delight to stay in. Everything was clearly arranged and all the things I may have needed were available in the room. I would give the hotel at least 9.0 marks out of ten; but for the wifi which was so slow that even a 2 minute you tube took near 8 minutes to watch with endless buffering. Anyt...

The hotel caters for vegetarians and gluten free diets freely supplied them at short notice and all the staff couldn't do enough for you .The rooms were lovely with great views of the Millenium bridge especially which lghts up at night and changes colour .The breakfasts especially your spoilt for choice from fresh fruit and homemade Granola to a full English and again ...

Enjoyed my stay here. There were good bars/ places to eat/ a waitrose nearby . 5 min walk to metro. Nice staff at the hotel. Had a good steak at Scalanis restaurant, Osbournes restaurant next to the hotel was a nice place for a drink. Especially worth a visit during happy hour. Taxi to Newcastle/Quayside easy to get/book and not sure exactly, (due to amount of alcohol ...

The Hotel was fabulous, the foyer was spectacular, very modern and quirky , the rooms are very well furnished and were very beautiful, they are small but they are perfect for relaxing in. The only negative issue with this hotel is because of its location and appeal its a homing beacon for Stag and Hen Nights. On our stay (fri-sun)During the late night hours several Hen...

Booked two rooms for myself husband, son and his fiancee could not believe they gave us fifth floor executive rooms with balconies overlooking the tyne bridge and river along with admission to the executive lounge with free alcholic drinks and snacks before we went out to the evening wedding night at the Sage just over the road. Booked the breakfast on arrival at disc...

Despite being brought up in Newton Aycliffe (circa 10 miles from Sedgefield and now living in Cheshire) I had never been (or really even aware of the hotel/park, so as first timer I was really impressed at the hotel and location .First class and excellent overall value for money

I booked a room at this hotel as a birthday treat and the visit was incredible from start to finish. We were greeted by lovely staff that were incredibly welcoming and upbeat, open to having a conversation which I loved, this is surprisingly rareally in my experience and it made us feel more at home. The room was amazing!! For booking a standard room we were expectin...

Quite nice hotel in Jesmond with good standards. Stayed here for two nights and had a silent clean room with a good bed. Close to city centre and you can easily walk to Haymarket or take the metro only one station to be there. Fairly normal modern standard, but worth its price. It's a safe buy.

This is the second time I've stayed at this particular Campanile Hotel, the first being earlier this year, unfortunately the same great price for a room wasn't forthcoming this time so it pays to book well in advance to get the best deal. Either way shop around on the internet, I was able to save myself over £15 booking through a third party site against booking direc...

Excellent hotel as always. We have stayed here many times and always found everything to be perfect. Just a short criticism, booked a table for an evening meal and it took quite a while to be served and quite a while to get our bill. Other than that, highly recommended.

Visited Village Hotel Newcastle again as we were so impressed the first time. The staff are lovely and very helpful and always at hand day or night. The rooms are always very clean and tidy and very comfortable. Enjoyed the breakfast every day and would recommend to other travellers without hesitation. Only one bug bear, could we just have a kettle and some coffee ...

Modest but adequate room size. More plug sockets than I've ever seen in a hotel room before - the whole family could charge phones, tablets, computers and cameras and still have a socket to use the tea and coffee making facilities! Good cooked breakfast. Easy check-in and out. Staffing was sparse as you'd expect in a budget location but they were responsive, helpfu...

reception was well organised, booking forms on hand and a very pleasant welcome. room excellent, spacious, modern, well appointed bathroom with all the touches you would expect. early morning call on time and check out very simple. evening meal was good value and well served. i would have no hesitation in using the hotel again if my next holiday was to be off an early...

First ever hotel we stayed that goes an extra mile for their guests. Notable examples include: - good room/furniture layout. - proper designed kitchen (you don't bang your head when cooking). - laundry basket in the room (laundry use is free but you have to buy wash tablets or bring your own). - 24h complementary bar that offers tea, coffee, sparkling water and st...

We booked a small double for £52, and continental breakfast. The Cairn is well located for access to Newcastle, on a busy road. Sunday night in Jesmond is quieter than the rest of the weekend. Our room was small, but clean. I hated the hard pillows, my husband loved them. We were unfortunate to have two air conditioning units on the external wall and a staff room of ...

When I arrived to check in at reception, the receptionist was very rude and had a massive attitude problem, I arrived at 2pm (the time I stated on my voucher with Agoda, who I booked with) and was told abruptly that I couldn't check in until 3pm, she seemed to like the power she had, it was written all over her body language. I am a seasoned traveler worldwide and that...

After booking on a bargain price I checked previous reviews, some of which were awful. However I noticed they were from some years ago, more recent reviews were far more positive. And I can only add to them, was nicely situated just a mile from the centre with bus stops nearby, staffwere freindly and helpful, room was great and bed very comfy. Only problem on the 2nd n...

We were booked into the newer half of the hotel which is great given my dislike of creepy older hotels. However, the room that we got didn't have air conditioning, which made it a little stuffy. Room was okay, not awesome, but not bad. The layout of the block we were in was a little weird, over a gym - so every time we came in or out, the gym/spa front desk would look ...

Great location, within short walking distance to the main centre. Spacious room and clean. My main problem is the lack of WIFI which for 2018 is totally unacceptable. We had a daily allowance of 30 minutes free per day and the option for 24 hrs at 3 pounds whilst only a small amount, it was an additional charge I refused to pay given you can walk into any coffee sh...

Stayed here after travelling around hotels in the the North for a week and this was the best Hotel by far I stayed in. Hotel staff were helpful and attentive. We had food in the Tavern and the Fish was superb! Hotel cleanliness was something that had been short on our travels but Hallgarth Manor soon made up for this. Hotel was spotless and room was beautifully clea...
Cheap places to stay in North East, England

the hostel is the newest in the yha group in the uk so it is in good order. all of the staff were very helpful especially chef at breakfast. parking was a little complex because it is pay & display until 4 pm, well 6pm but you get the first 2 hours free. i noticed that there was a special system motorbikes & cycles which is probably easier. we had a family room which w...

We have stayed in most of Rothbury's pus and b&b's and while the Newcastle is a little tired in places (have fun counting how many different patterned carpets you walk over to get to your room), all is clean, tidy and friendly. Breakfast is excellent and the evening food also good. It was a fair bit cheaper than anywhere else and as we were only using the room to sle...

Pros... breakfast was one of the best full English I've ever had Cons.... run down, the pull cord in the bathroom was black not white, no one has ever cleaned behind the bin or toilet, the bin itself needs a clean, the window had a large amount of mould around it, no tv remote so could not operate the tv, the over bed light was not working, the bed throw had a stain ...

we stayed in room 108 prior to booking we read some reviews and were apprensive about booking it glad we did the hotel is brilliant we don/t know what some people expect for the price of the hotel rate they must be to fussy if so should go somewhere else well located for shops and restaurants and dean street car park is very close to the hotel with free parking from 5...

Our room did not have an ensuite but we were the only ones using the communal bathroom which was an outstanding standard. Our room was smallish in the attic, very comfortable with hand basin, tea coffee etc. very good value, and a very pleasant lady running it. Made us feel very much at home.

I was staying for the Great North Run. On the morning of the race, the hotel had laid out water, fruit & maps to the start line for people to help themselves to. Staff were very friendly. Thought we had an issue with with the TV, spoke to reception & the lady went up straight away & sorted it. Decent shower. Parts of the hotel look dated & feel dated. Close to the town...

There say you get what you pay for well you certainly do here there is a separate building at the rear of the hotel which can only be described as a rabbit hutch there have installed as many bedrooms as possible and the room is not big enough to swing a cat you put your bag down and the room is full as for sleeping the bed is so uncomfortable you can feel the springs t...

We were made very welcome and greeted with champagne!! The location is ideal easy to find relaxing whilst sitting on the terrace watching the sea. Breakfast was nice and tasty, although a little too early for our holiday ( We missed it a couple of times). Just cross the road to the beach, ideal. Thank you.

This hotel is an amazing find - right near the outskirts of the town centre this hotel is clean, new and very comfortable. Definitely worth staying at for a weekend or a short stay. Location is just opposite the College of St Hild and St Bede.

It is cheap and cheerful. The staff are really friendly. Dont expect the hotel to be fine dining because it definitely isn't! Agoda listed that breakfast was included but the manager informed me that it isnt and that they had informed agoda of this. I had proof on an email so I got my breakfast but it wasn't very good. You definitely get what you pay for. .. like I s...

We were traveling late at night so arrived at about 3am, although the doors are locked there is a phone number to call to get in after 10pm, (make sure you have charge on your phone), the receptionist gave us a room at the back overlooking the trees rather than the road which was very quiet. Its a perfect location if you are coming from the motorway and there is a G...

I only used it for a one night stay whilst attending a rugby match but it was a very comfortable stay. Single room had plenty of space and a very good bathroom. All the staff I encountered were very helpful and polite. Breakfast was served in a pleasant dining room with plenty of choice and very also good value. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

My stay was very cosy, the shower/bathroom were nice and clean. The property was quiet and relaxing. Over all great, but the only thing was when I checked my bank account, I ended up paying £10 extra for some reason? Will be looking further into this but over all, nice place to stay

Easy parking and quick booking in process. Never had to wait for the lift at all over 2 days. The hotel is small and just two floors which may be the reason for that of course. The rooms are very spacious and the beds massive. Lovely gym and pool and the meals and breakfast were good. I would but hesitate to use this hotel again when next in this area. The staff...

The hotel is a beautiful country house built around the early 16 hundred and stands in extensive lovely grounds. As we were in a room located on the top floor of the old house the stairs were a bit of a bind due to my age, as there is no lift, but the room made up for it as it was large with a very comfortable bed and a spa bath in the bathroom and it was lovely and ...

We were there for a show on the Saturday night, and found that the Kensington was even better than we had expected (we expected it to be very good!). It's easy to find, the girl on reception was very helpful and polite, the apartment was huge, warm and very comfortable. It's literally 2 minutes from the metro station into the city centre. I'd also like to recommend the...

Breakfast excellent. Parking convenient but pricey. Storage/hanging space limited especially if one stays for more than a few days. Complimentary room bar (no alcohol). Room beginning to look a little in need of minor attention. Would I stay there again - DEFINITELY!

We visited Durham for a couple of days to celebrate my birthday and meet up with family. Our choice of hotel could not have been better! The location was ideal and the hotel itself is stunning. Very clean, staff were friendly, the only negative is that my breakfast on the 1st morning was inedible, the bacon was over cooked and the sausage undercooked, but it would...

We stayed overnight for a wedding reception and overnight stay. The hotel was pleasant and the room although small was very nicely done in a contemporary style. The bathroom was particularly nice. Th food was nice and especially the breakfast. We changed from a twin room to 2 singles (at my request) as there had been a leak and the twin room was not available. There wa...

thoroughly enjoyed our stay at south causey. great staff that will do everything they can to make your stay as good as it can be. the hotel is in a quiet country setting and offers a number of "country" activities. dinner in the restaurant was excellent. the black pudding was great. my partner was not well but the staff had no issue just taking dinner up to the room...

It was hard to climb uphill to reach there by walk with suitcase, but the view from the room was so stunning and relaxing that I forgot everything. It was like living in a castle. Huge rich old house was renovated perfect to the cozy and fancy hotel. You can feel like being a king or queen when staying at this hotel. Very much recommended.

Really nicely presented hotel. Was a Sunday night so perhaps they were a little shortstaffed leading to a couple of short delays with check in/check out/drinks service owing to there not being a second member of staff on duty but these were reasonable and the service very very professional and friendly. Only real thing to consider is that the room was on the top floo...

All staff friendly and considerate couldn’t be more helpful seeing that I had had a part knee 10 days earlier and my wife had a broken wrist in plaster room small but it was booked at last minute and last room available but nice and clean and tidy good Wi-fi

Beautiful location and the hotel itself is an interesting historic building, although in need of some maintenance in certain areas. Staff very helpful and pleasant although our stay coincided with a wedding and the bar staffing levels were hopelessly inadequate, to the point that they were unable to fulfil a booking for a meal. Ended up driving to Morpeth for fish and ...
