Nong Khai Province hotels & places to stay

I stay at this hotel, whenever traveling to Laos for a day. (I park in Nong Khai, stay in Nong Khai, taxi to and in Laos.) My room was close to the elevator, second room from the elevator. THE ELEVATOR AREA TALKING AND THE PEOPLE NEXT TO ME WERE NOISY!!!!! For the first time, I learned how poorly insulated the walls and the door are. Another issue: It took four tries to get my key to work. Batteries on the door needed to be replaced. Keys had to be replaced. Otherwise, the hot water in the morning and after a long day is great and plentiful. The location is great. Easy to get something to eat at the Tesco complex. 7-11 is close to get snacks for the room. I would still come back, but ask for a room away from the elevator.

" GRYM " Stayed for only 1 week to see how lovely this city was. Wanted to stay more. This was by far the coziest! Standard room, huge beds and very clean. Very friendly staffs and manager who are very welcoming. Their English were good! Less than 3 minutes walk to the riverfront and very quiet ensuring a goods night sleep. Lots of street foods around, which were delicious (Recommended by staff). Would definitely book here for next time in Nong Khai and would highly recommend it for value for money. We got a promotion rates! Very exceptional!

The hotel is a little older but well maintained, clean and the pool is fantastic. The hotel is not located downtown Nong Khai but rather on a very quiet and large piece of secure property just east of town. This is a huge plus if your looking for a quiet retreat. The hotel isn't far from the riverfront and is a short bicycle ride to the markets and restaurants. The staff treated us like family personally greeting us every day making sure that we were happy with the facilities and always asking if there was anything else we needed. Next time I visit Nong Khai this will be my home away from home again.

Booked for only 1 night to see what it was like as we have stayed in Nong Khai a few times before. This was by far the best! Huge,spacious rooms, huge beds and spotlessly clean. Very friendly staff and manageress who is very welcoming. Less than 10 minutes walk to the riverfront and very quiet ensuring a goods night sleep. Lots of bars around but no noise ( a must for us) Would definitely book here for next time in Nong Khai and would highly recommend it for value for money. The best we have stayed in so far in this area. Can't rate it highly enough.....

despite being on a busy thoroughfare ( the hotel is built so you can't hear the traffic) and a fair distance from most places in nong khai, this is a nice hotel. i came for two nights. the first night was blissful. from the start the reception staff were all smiles & eager to please. the room is large with good size balcony, although the bathroom is so small. though i did like the step down to the shower, which meant that the rest of the room did not become a pond! good size bed, but the pillows too too soft. the small tv had good selection of channels. i recommend when booking this hotel you ask for a room away from the lift. on my second night, a group of young people checked in. all night i was disturbed by the ping of the lift which was located opposite my door. breakfast was adequate but nothing special. the orange juice was horrid. note: there is no convenience store close-by.

The hotel is very well maintained, room and all general area like the garden, lobby, the giant Koi fish pond are all very clean. I love the Koi fish pond and the garden, very relaxing. The rooftop bar offers a great view of sunset over Mae Khong River, which the river is just across the street opposite the hotel. The breakfast is note bad with good enough variety from local dishes to international. Plenty of parking space. I would come back and stay here again for my next visit in Nong Khai city.

Only in Nong Khai for 2 nights and so pleased we found Park Pool Resort on Agoda. About 2.5kms from centre of Nong Khai so tuk tuk ride into town (200 bht if you request hotel reception to call tuk tuk for you, only 80bht if you walk the 300 metres to the main road and find your own tuk tuk). Park Pool is a brand new development in a quiet suburb. It has a mixture of self contained bungalows and rooms in the main accommodation block, all set within a pleasantly landscaped garden, in the centre of which is a good sized adult depth swimming pool with a small adjacent shallow pool for children. All was scrupulously clean and evidently well maintained. We had a twin bedded double room in the main building, beds comfortable, sheets and towels replaced daily. Air conditioning and satellite television (with some English language channels). En suite small but attractive and fully equipped bathroom with complimentary toiletries. Room service available for drinks, food etc. Reception and covered open air dining area serving drinks and a reasonably selection of both Thái and Western food at reasonable prices. Reception staff spoke good English. Breakfast was inclusive, buffet style with again both Thái and Western and was more than adequate. Bicycles and motor scooters available for hire at modest cost. Will definitely return to Park Pool next visit to Nong Khai and have no hesitation in recommending.

I really liked the Tanzeno hotel. While Nong Khai is not a large Thailand City, the hotel is minutes off the main highway to Vientiane. The rooms were modern, clean and well-furnished; the hotel was good value for money. The staff was pleasant and helpful. My stay was highlighted by an unfortunate incident – my fault entirely. The room had a safe and as I usually do when I stay in a hotel, I put my key documents in the hotel safe. Well for the first time in my life I did not empty the safe before I vacated the room and left my passport, credit cards, a fairly large amount of cash and other key documents in the hotel safe and drove to my home some 700 km South of Nong Khai. I did not realize until I got a phone call from the lady in my city who owns a taxi service to tell me some 2 days after I arrived home that she had been contacted by the Tanzeno hotel to inform me that I had left my passport and other items in the hotel safe. I have no idea how the hotel got her phone number. When I realized what I had done, I called to hotel and spoke to Ms. Doe, one of the hotel managers and she told me what had happened. She asked me how she can get the documents back to me, I gave her my address and she sent the items back to me by Thailand Post. This morning I received the package with all my documents, cash, credit cards etc. What a relief! So this note is a thank you to the staff at the Hotel Tanzeno for their honesty and their extensive efforts to return these documents to me and also to the Thailand Postal Service. If you look on the Thailand blogs, you will see the Thailand Postal service gets bad reviews. It took 2 working days for the package to get to me and their on line tracking system was very good giving me updates of where the package was. So if you ever have a need to stay in Nong Khai, I highly recommend the Tanzeno Hotel. You will not be disappointed!

i was staying at nut mee hotel, but it was expensive and didn't even offered a breakfast. so i moved to panlaan. i was a bit worried at first because a few tuk-tuk drivers didn't know where it was located, there is nothing nearby the hotel, the place is located in a very quiet road, but nong khai is a quiet city anyway. (the hotel is not far from the train station and this is convenient!) the people in the reception can call for a tuk-tuk if you want to go to the market, (but make sure to talk about price before the ride! a trip from the hotel to the market should cost 50 or max.60 bath! ask the receptionist to write in thai directions back to the hotel. i stay in one of the simple rooms but it was ok and comfortable. they offer wifi for free with was very handy. the breakfast is simple, but it's a nice touch. the pool helps to cool down during a hot day! this hotel is mainly used by thai people, and it was nice not to be in an overly touristic place. the people in the reception and other workers are nice and very friendly. i recommend this hotel and would stay there again if i went to nong khai.

Big room, plenty of space. Bed is large and comfortable. Good bathroom. Bring your own toilet paper as it is not supplied. If you ask you will get it (grudgingly) but will be advised you should use the bum gun. The 'breakfast' is coffee and biscuits in the lobby - but you won't be told about it. It is on the table near the door to the carpark (under the TV). We recommend Macky's for breakfast (near the river) & MAI'S RESTAURANT across the road from the hotel for dinner. The food is great and the prices good at both (also both have free wifi). The only problem we had in getting to the hotel was the driver wanting to take us elsewhere. Be sure to specify it is the Nong Khai CITY Hotel, not the Nong Khai SIRI Guesthouse. The Friendship Bridge is not worth the trouble and expense of getting unless you are crossing to Laos. It is nothing special as a tourist thing. Sala Keoku is worth the trip, it is about 15-20 minutes tuk-tuk ride from the riverside market. You are looking at 60-90 minutes to check the place out. The driver should wait if you pay about 200b for the return trip. This is one of the very few places I have found that does not have dual pricing. 20B for adults (July 2016) regardless of nationality. 200b security deposit. We would use this hotel again.

I thought and had heard that it is too far from the main centre and the river. The hotel has a tuk tuk service 24 hours a day which brought everything closer. I had a family bungalow because I liked the space and I was not disappointed in anyway. I recommend the Rice Porridge for breakfast. English can be difficult for the staff however just asked for Mr Nong and he will see too your needs although I suspect they will be minimal and possibly only pertain to the tuk tuk.

located near the thai-lao border in nong khai. nice spot with 50 some bungalows, new and clean with facilities. no swimming pool (yet). large garage for people who leave their vehicule to go into laos (organizes also accompanied tours). good restaurant, no menu in english but khun som the daughter speaks fluently english and is very helpful. nong khai,at 3 km, has very nice promenade along the mekong with many good restaurants. a good place to stay 1 or several nights on the way to or from the friendship bridge to laos.

Booked the Rim only the day before whilst in Viantienne. Found it very easily but didn't appreciate how far it was from Nong Khai bus station - was quite a walk carrying a loaded bergan but well worth it. On arrival was met by the owner - a very friendly helpful chap called Tung. He let me have the use of a push bike and gave me lots of information about things to see/do in NK. The Rim has only 3 rooms but all very clean with all facilities that you would need (and everything worked!!!!) and right beside the river. Tung runs a lovely little coffee shop as part of the Rim - really relaxing to have a coffee or beer whilst watching the Mekong river flow slowly by. Hope to go back to Nong Khai soon and will definitely book again.

+New, clean +Spacious room with private toilet (which we didn't expect) and fridge +Peaceful environment +Out of touristic scenery +Lovely Thai people in the suburb just ready to do their best to help you -SO hard to find, even tuktuk drivers didn't know where the place is, but in the end the owner picked us up after we called him. Same thing with the other couple staying there. -2-3km out of the center area, you'll have to use Jira's own tuktuk service or walk.

New place. Enjoyed a spacious room with an adjacent parking bay. Chances are if you are staying here, you have your own means of transportation. It is not quite within walking distance of Nong Khai. It is conveniently located only a few kilometers from the friendship bridge on the highway yet the rooms were quiet despite the traffic. As luck would have it, there's a 7-11 next to it too with a couple food stalls in front that are open in the evening. I didn't need to go to town for anything. Would recommend this as a place to stay if travelling to/from Laos.

This hotel is far from city Nong Khai and. Hard to find and access without private car or taxi. Breakfast is very scarce, and there were many ants in the bathroom. We had to look for people in the ‘reception’ , but where she finally popped up she was kind. I think too far from everything to stay without wvehicle. There was a 7-11 and some street restaurants 10 minutes walk away. The price was acceptable for what you got.

I absolutely loved this place, but it's definitely not for everyone. I spent 2 nights there, on my way to Ventiane, just on the other side of the Frendship Bridge across the Mekong river. If you need a swimming pool, gym, or even wifi or a TV, then this is not the place for you (but then what are you doing in Nong Khai?). If on the other hand you want a relaxing place to spend a few days away from the city, enjoying the sunrise and sunset on the Mekong in a small hotel decorated with taste, then this is the place you have been looking for. The hotel is very small (maybe 5-6 rooms) with 4 rooms river side (the ones to get, in my opinion). It is an old habitation/trading building that belonged to the owner's grandparents and that has been converted into a hotel over the last 2 years. The two rooms on the top level of the hotel, river-side, have a huge balcony, of which the bathroom is a part. It's a strange setup at first, but really enjoyable (the balcony has a heavy leather curtain for privacy). I have read comments regarding the water in the shower not getting warm... Well, the shower and sink have no water temperature control, just debit control. You get whatever temperature comes out of the pipe, so you'll never get steaming hot water if that's your thing, but then it's really hot out there, and a refreshing shower is more what I needed. But still, "refreshing" is relative, it's 38° (100F) out there, and the water is never cool either. The breakfast is excellent. You get the choice between maybe 4-5 sets and you have to tell the day before at what time you plan to have breakfast so that the small staff (2 wonderful people, one lady and one man, the man can speak some English, the lady almost none). I had a great time at this hotel, and I only wish I had spent more time there, cutting on my time in Bangkok. If I return to Nong Khai (probably as part of a longer trip to Laos) I will definitely stay in this hotel again.

Exceptional value for the money. Quiet, lovely countryside location, just outside Nong Khai and only 3 kms. from border crossing to Laos. Hotel very clean, comfortable and welcoming; with large rooms, comfortable beds, swimming pool, bicycles and breakfast, all inclusive. The restaurant offers a variety of affordable meals; and other eateries are a short walk/bicycle rude away. A great choice at an amazing price.

I only stayed one night on my way to Laos, but my room was very clean, the grounds were well maintained and everything worked fine. The hotel seems to operate with minimal staff during slow times - so you might find yourself checking in in the parking lot with the security guy. Don't expect any facilities to be open. There is a restaurant next door. Even with the minimal staff, they did everything they could to ensure a comfortable stay. They set up breakfast just for me and they also provided a free ride to the bridge in the hotel van. The property seems to be a holiday resort for Thais and is probably only fully operational during peak periods.

the hotel is very new,when i got of plane at udon thani mini bus drivers had never heard of it he then took me in to town and droped me at the wrong hotel and drove of i then had to pay a tuktuk driver to take me to modern inn but he didnot know where it was.the hotel is listed as being in nong khai city centre it is not u have to get a tuktuk into town,they need to tell bus drivers/taxi/tuktuk drivers where the hotel is ,my stay was fine room very clean staff very limited english

The hotel is nice by itself, room is cozy, all facilities are working well, it's clean, has a big parking. The only one problem of this place is the owner. When we arrived he slept and we had to wait, because the housekeeper didn't know which room should we take. They had very special guests on the next day in the same room, so they were afraid to give that room to us. There is a mention of an "express check-in", but if you're a foreigner, it will take at least 30 minutes with all that paperwork and explaining of thousands rules. The owner was unfriendly at all with me neither with my Thai friend. I've asked to leave my luggage for one night because I had to go to Laos to get a visa and he refused.
