We were welcomed on a special transport "a buggy car" in which the hotel arranged to pick us up from Gall. The hotel staff always welcomed us warmly every time we met... And the breakfast was extremely good specially with the view to blow your mind.... There were few minor issues with the second wash basin at the room(Superior) But it's worth the money anyway... So I r...

Our delux room had a view of the sea and was modern, comfortable, and clean. The resort is set back from the main road which mitigated vehicle noise from the constant traffic on the main road. English speaking television channels were limited. The breakfast served was ok however the ala carte menu for lunch and evening meals was quite limited with the food being of a l...

I went there with my parents and my sister's family. I booked a triple room and a double room. The place is very calm and quiet. Hotel staff is very friendly and warmly welcomed us. Rooms were very clean. They have two pools including baby pools. The pool near my room (139)was perfect. Very recommended. Best place for family stay. Foods are delicious. Room services ar...

we had a 5 night stay at the Amari Galle hotel and it was very good. Clean modern rooms, good food, big pool area and superfriendly staff. the only negative is that you can't walk in to town from there. You have to take a tuk tuk. the hotels cars are very overpriced so don't bother. also if u want transport to airport or some other hotel I recommend you to use a loca...

A very pleasant, relaxing stay! The pool greets you as you enter the hotel - staff are very courteous and helpful. View from the room is breathtaking (ask for a top floor). This is the place to be if you are looking for a quiet relaxing vacation, staying at the hotel, sitting by the beach rather than going around sight-seeing. Would recommend this place to anyone trave...

Stayed one night in this hotel during our short visit to Galle. Hotel accomodation was excellent, staff was wonderful, Good breakfast. The Hotel is a 2 hour drive from the airport and cost us £40 for a luxury mini bus with air conditioning. The drive is pleasant and lots to see along the way. The rooms are clean and beds comfortable. Bathrooms basic but again clean and always plenty of hot water. Clean bedding & towels daily, they even provide an evening turn down service. Breakfast & dinner offered...

Generally, it was good. I had a relaxing getaway. This place is ideal for people who want retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city life . The food was good and the staff would always assist you and ensure that you have a comfortable stay. The driver who took me to The Galle Fort and the Tsunami monument was cool and very hospitable. There are no sports activ...

I stayed my last 2 nights in sri lanka here at this newly opened hotel. I found it to be running very smoothly especially considering it had only been open not 2 months. The rooms were well furnished with lovely bed linen and I had a great view from the large balcony. The pool area was nice, again right by the ocean with fantastic sunset views looking out towards th...

we had a 3-night stay at this hotel : - very very clean place ; - the pool is large and offers a breathtaking view on the ocean (and the sunset); - food is great at the breakfast and at the dinner; - wine list is acceptable; - staff is always available to help you (they will post your postal cards for free...); - rooms are clean and fully equipped. we took one...

nice service, clear room, helpful staff I arrived much earlier than the check in time, staff was really helpful and gave a the room at about a quarter past eleven. Since it was the first time for me to travel in sri lanka, i wss glad that they gave me some advice and suggestion just the map in agoda is incorrect, it was not near galle you needa a tuk-tuk

I had organised a pick up from the airport with the hotel which was smooth sailing as I was able to get some sleep before arriving at the beach house a little over 2.5 hours later. We were warmly greeted and given access to our room even though it was too early for check in. The Hotel was well kept and staff were friendly and always with a smile. The hotel location w...

Service was almost on par w a 5 star resort. Newer hotel so quality of build and furnishings was very good. Perched on a hill above Jungle Beach (note: around a 10 minute walk away, the beach of which is relatively small), so it's a little far away from the "action" of Unawatuna and Galle. If you're looking for a secluded spot and are ok with eating the hotel's food...

You bare feet sinks into the finely manicured lawn, the fine sands blow on to your face as the tropical wind blows in from the sea, the stray puppy comes to you for a peck as you lie down on the beach chair....this is how you get used to the serenity and tranquility that Arabella offers. A finely run boutique resort neatly tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Ga...

We last stayed at the Thambapanni Retreat in 2010 and were bowled over by not only the hotel but by the wonderful staff who consistently went out of their way to make sure our stay was exceptional. I'm glad to say that this visit was just as good. Set away from the beach itself, the retreat has a more relaxed and private atmosphere than Unawatuna's seafront spots. Che...

One of the most historic and elegant places to stay, eat & drink in Galle Fort. Very welcoming staff especially Chamara who went out if his way to assist with check-in, gave us brief history of area and hotel., he checked in with us daily to make sure everything was good. Staying in Tamarind Hills provided us a glimpse of what life would have been for the colonists in olden days Ceylon. The building, interiors and grounds are elegantly restored and as soon as we stepped in, we felt as though time has slowed down (in a good way). Our children love this hotel above all the other 5 star hotels they stayed in for this holiday as the hotel ...

Really decent hotel. Would highly recommend. The rooms are very clean and spacious, some rooms even have jacuzzi. The view is just amazing:you can swim in the pool and watching the waves breaking on the huge rocks. If you want to swim - main Unawatuna beach is just few minutes walking distance. The breakfasts and food from menu a la carte were delicious. Try their pizz...
Cheap places to stay in Galle District

We arrived right at happy hour (5:15-6:15pm) and enjoyed a few of their supper tasty cocktails (passion fruit Mojito and Pina Colada are amazing), sunset is great here, even though we were a bit unlucky since it was cloudy. Super chilled spot, decent music, good dinner. The staff owner is super friendly and the rooms are in great condition. We had the budget double r...

It's a great house with a long history. It's a beautiful garden with kandy dancers, coconut trees, many kinds of plants. There will be many lovely animals to play in the garden, monkeys, peacocks, and some I can't name. There are also groups of fireflies in the garden at night, which is really beautiful. The landlord is also very nice and likes them very much.

When I booked this hotel, there was no service fees included in booking. When we arrived we were given a nice cold drink of juice... And asked to pay the booking price plus a 10% service charge. After we both talked to booking.com, whom Agoda booked this place through, the host woman I mostly dealt with kindly 'waived' the service charge. When I bought water from he...

We stayed here for two nights and we enjoyed it. The accomodation is basic, clean and calm and includes a kitchen which we could use. The owner was one of the friendliest we met during our journey. He allowed us to check out at any time and even ordered a cheap tuk tuk for us. Thank you!! The villa is near the jungle- what we loved- because you can see beautiful birds ...

Hostel Unawatuna is in an unbelievable setting, just a short distance away from the busy town. Staying in a tipi and being surrounded by nature and a resident horse was beautiful, but the best part is the owner and lovely staff! I planned on staying one night and ended up staying for a week, and already can't wait to come back and visit again!

Despite making the booking confirmation, the hotel was not able to locate the booking on their system and promised to call us back (within minutes) to which we mentioned that we will be going for some site seeing but will be expecting the call. 2 hours later, I called Warren Bock who was not helpful and said that they didnt receive the booking confirmation (I had alrea...

We stayed at La Villa for 2 weeks and was the prefect place to explore Unawatuna from. La Villa is a lovely family run hotel in a perfect location, 5 minutes walk from the beach in a quiet area. The owners were very helpful and so friendly and sorted out any problems. They moved us rooms when our toilet was leaking and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Th...

This hotel is situated near the beach but not actually on it. It was a little hard to find initially. The owner and his wife were pleasant enough while I was there but did not really speak or help me with my bags on leaving. I had my washing done while I was there and it did not come back clean some of the other guests said the same, breakfast is ok you pay extra for th...

I stayed for a long time at hansa villa, it is very quiet as a little bit in the forest, but max 5min walking to the beach road of unawatuna. The owners are really friendly and help up. Place is clean and there is some nice outside area to relax and watch the monkeys. Also, there is a fully equiped kittchen that can be used. Go there, it's really nice :-)

I spent one night here. is very close the beach, jungle beach, galle, etc. the manager is very helpful include a kid who speaks very well English can help you to find the way to the beach. but, I was in the room 101 I think, and smell a little bad.. I sleep with the fan but anyways, the smell was horrible. in this room there is humidity and the bed clothes are wet.

I stayed in a dorm and the first 2 nights I had the room to myself! Rooms are clean, big bathroom attached, the pool is very nice and they also have a restaurant with good breakfast and dinner. It’s 10min to walk to the beach and all the restaurants in the area but therefore very close to the trainstation and right on the Main Street so easy to catch a bus to Galle too...

The Hikkaduwa River View Cottage is difficult to find as there is no sign marking the property. I spent about 1/2 hour trying to find the place, which of course cost me additional money for the services of the tuk tuk I had engaged. The property is a long way from downtown and from the beach. There is no air conditioning. There is no netting to keep the mosquitos off ...

After three weeks spent in Sri Lanka at various different guest houses, The Citadel was by far the best accommodation that we stayed in! The family room we booked was enormous and spotlessly clean throughout. Although the accommodation had no air conditioning the big fans above both beds were more than capable of keeping us cool through the hot nights. The location was...

You get what you pay for, basic facilities however it was great for my stay of three night. Kitchen could have been cleaner with a new blender (leaked when used), rooms were comfortable but mosquito nets need replacing as very holey. The location is brilliant, just around from the stations about 2 minute walk to the beach. Staff are friendly and polite. Wifi is good

we stayed for 2 nights at Disa's home. the room is very comfortable, has access to a beautiful veranda with sea view through some palm trees and a private bathroom with all necessary facilities (no warm water though). on our first night, Disa served us some delicious homemade rice and curry which is the best we had on our trip so far. it's a five minute walk from the ...

If you want to enjoy Galle but don't want to suffer the noise from the town, in a really beautiful, peaceful and luxuriant place... I definitely recommend you to stay at Ginganga Lodge for a few nights (the place is only a few minutes drive by tuk tuk from Galle Fort). The staff is really really (did I say REALLY?) friendly and helpful, especially the owner Indika. ...

The stay at long beach was extremely memorable mainly because of the easy access to the beach right behind our hotel room. The rooms were spacious and neat. Bathrooms were very well maintained as well. Staffs were quite attentive and hospitable. Worth the money for the beach fun and laid back vacation. Only issue was the distance from Galle. Agoda claims the hotel is a...

staying at apa villa illuketia was an excellent experience and my only regret is that we did not stay for longer. the room we stayed in was one of 4 in the main house, which is lovely. the gardens are beautiful (about 7 acres) and the head gardener was keen to give us a tour and talk about the huge variety of plants and trees. at the bottom of the garden is a very nice...

The location looks remote but is not. Unawatana beach is walking distance and so is Galle Center. It is located next to jungle beach but beside this name also really a jungle hotel. They grow there own food, i don't know if it was good because we did not eat here but Staff was friendly. Lots of animals around the hotel you can see them from the room because the walls a...

A real find, value for money, laid back, beautiful location, attentive staff and manager, gorgeous room and pool area. Just a short tuk tuk ride to Galle and the nearby beaches. A quiet retreat on a hill, elevated over the jungle. Sea view from the back of the hotel.

We stayed at the Sapphire Seas for eight nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel was quite small which made it more personal and we got to know the staff which was great. The hotel was just out of the town located on the main Galle Road which is a busy road but the hotel owner has headed other guests comments by installing glazing to reduce the noise from the...

My wife and I are on our honeymoon and our first was Villa 46. We had four nights at there and we loved every bit of it. Suresh, Colin and Nimesh our hosts over our stay were AMAZING. Nothing was too much trouble for them to accommodate. What I liked best they knew when we wanted to relax by the gorgeous pool and left us to our own devices but when we wanted a drink/fo...

It's not a big hotel but makes people feel warm and comfortable. The staff there is so friendly and warm hearted! The best breakfast I had in Srilanka. My parents and me had a good time there. The location is quite good, in the Galle font. I'd like to go there again.

a beautiful villa with surrounding gardens, and lake. galle is a 25 minute drive away, and there are plenty of beaches between the villa and galle. a pool, massage area and wonderful veranda complete the setting. dinner is very well prepared, and though choice is limited, the food is excellent, as is the service. boatrides to explore the lake can be arranged from t...

We travelled around the whole country and stayed in several beach towns but this was by far and away the best hotel and I doubt you could find any better. The beach was very seclud...

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel very much. Rooms are clean, air conditioned and comfortable. The beach and train station is very near. But the main thing which has impressed us the most is the staff of this hotel. The manager of the hotel is just incredible. We felt ourselves like at home. Food are tasty and fresh. The seafood we ordered at the hotel probably is the ...

we stayed two nights at the club villa. this is a boutique hotel with less than 20 rooms. the grounds are beautiful and the rooms simple, but very nice an clean. the staff was fantastic and saw to our every need. the restaurant was amazing. we almost never eat at hotel restaurants because the food is usually so so. not here, the best meals we had in sri lanka were at t...

The manager Steven (and his colleagues) went out of their way for us, and were so kind & accommodating. We went for drinks in Fort Bazaar, Amangalle & Galle Fort Hotel & I am an interior designer & can safely ...

I chose this place for its exquisite colonial design and it turned out to be right. It is a beautiful manor with big trees and lots of plants, and a clean nice swimming pool. During this journey I lived in 5 high-end hotels in Lanka, this pool was one of the 2 with clean swimming pool. That was very nice. The manager seems smart and his English is very good without str...

Our experience at Sri Villas was just wonderful. The villas, the rooms, and the beach/garden area are all beautiful and very tastefully done. Just looking at them makes one feel relaxed. The gardener really takes good care of the pool and the beach. It's very clean. He asked us to visit KK again in Nov / Dec time when the beach is suitable for swimming. Breakfast is very good. Staff is well trained. My gf and I were sick during our stay. The manager immediately invited doctor (Dr. Silva) to visit us. There's always tuk tuk outside KK (2 Sri Lanka broth...

We had a great time from start to finish: the welcome, the discovery of our room, the discretion of the although omnipresent staff, the fantastic and lovely manager, with a heart as big as the house, the food, drnnks and brownies. I could go on and on as everything single moment or glimpse deserves a special review. The pool was huge and welcoming. The house is on a ni...

We stayed here for 5 nights in total. 2 nights to start off before we moved to Mirissa, but as Unawatuna is closer to Galle and the airport we decided to return for our final 3 nights of our 2 week holiday in Sri Lanka. Great intimate boutique hotel with only 9 rooms. Great service (we were the only people staying during our 4 day trip) The staff are very friendly and attentive. The beach is not for swimming as the sea is too rough but you can ...

Just wow. A short tuk tuk ride from galle. This place is paradise and one of the best places we've stayed, staff went out of their way to help us. We felt like royalty. This hotel is beautiful. 2 swimming pools, that meet the beach. Good food and variety - mostly local style. Very comfortable rooms. Our rooms had balconies overlooking the garden and beach. Staff were friendly, excellent English and couldn't do enough to make our stat memorable. Highly recommend. Good midway point between Bentota and Galle.
