Eastern Cape Province hotels & accommodations

Spent two nights there. The hotel staff at reception and in the dining room and the security staff at the entrance are charming and gracious. East London and the Eastern Cape are in a tight economic situation and this is reflected in the hotel where they are trying new ways of charging for services. For example, in the dining room breakfast is served 'a la carte' and o...

The accommodation was first class, spacious, clean and very comfortable. The staff friendly and helpful. The game drivers friendly and informative. Everything is very well organised. Because the lodge is in an open space all sorts of animals can wander through, therefore, in the evening when it is dark, you must be escorted to and from your lodge. The food was exce...

Simply wonderful! We enjoyed every second of it. You have to visit this hotel to experience the beauty of the place, the great hospitality and the best cooking in South Africa. The game drive to the Addo Elephant Park was very interesting thanks to our guide who really had great knowledge of plants and animals.

The spa was excellent. He rooms were large, with a comfortable king bed and an amazing shower and bath combo. The rooms and hotel were kept clean throughout ur stay. The area felt very safe to walk around at all times of the day and night. (Pleased to see only a few electric/barbed fences in this area). Unfortunately the spas location leaves it quite a distance from an...

I have been in the hospitality industry for almost 20 years. In the last 5 of these years my family and I have traveled to many lodges, hotels, resorts, spa's and back packers enjoying life, well trying to anyways. To often, actually almost 90% of the time we are disappointed. Being Lilizela award runner ups and winners my wife and I pride ourselves on service and exp...

Lovely spacious room and bathroom with tea/coffee station and bathroom accessories like shampoo, soap, shower cap and body lotion. Air con was noisy in our room and we asked for a sea-facing room which had a lovely view over the harbour but the noise from traffic and road below!!! I'll definitely stay again but will request a back facing room with no view, but I wou...

I have just returned from a three night stay at the City Lodge Port Elizabeth, whilst attending the SA Society of Aaesthesiologists annual congress. Everything was fantastic with real value for money. Location is really a five minute walk to the Boardwalk Hotel and Conference Centre. Rooms are clean, comfortable and well appointed. Service is very good. This...

We stayed at Pumba for two nights at the beginning of October... I only wish it could have been longer!!!!! After researching game reserves for many weeks I am so glad that I choose Pumba!! The water lodge we stayed in was amazing, the view of the lake unbelievable and the animal encounters on the game drives where unforgettable! The experience is just such a dream, it...

Everything was amazing from the beginning, you are so warmly welcomed by staff and glorious views. The little things are done here, there are only a handful of lodges so it feels like you get 100% attention from the staff. My girlfriend is a vegan and the chef (who was crazy is a great way) come out of her way to speak to her and let her know her thoughts for her menu ...

Always a great stay. In my opinion, by far the best hotel in PE. Staff are great. The hotel is really very good and the location is out great allowing easy access to the beaches and restaurants. The rooms are very comfortable and light. Very clean and the service is excellent.

We visited the Fernery Lodge during our 11 day tour of the Garden Route and voted this our best stop out of six hotels. We were so impressed with the concept of the venue, location and accommodation. The staff were wonderful and the grounds, walks and views were amazing. Simply wonderful.

my wife and me were on our honeymoon in south africa (capetown to port eliz via garden route). i must say woodall country house is the best accommodation in the entire trip. the house was just awesome. beautifully furnished. the restaurant is overlooking a pond where birds, swans are. lovely view when u having breakfast. oh and breakfast is truely a spread. for jams al...

A local hotel in a good location in a residential area.easy access to airport & downtown.Property built 1899 & has 8 rooms.Rooms have names ,no numbers.A relaxing /tranquil property with a pool,garden,restaurant,WiFi is free/reliable/quick.Rooms are huge with different styles.Complimentary water/tea/coffee.Some rooms have balcony..There is a desk/tv etc.Bathrooms are l...

No 5 is a hotel located in a quiet street 5 minutes from seafront in Port Elizabeth. It is an absolutely stunning hotel with the most beautiful rooms. It is art deco themed and stuffed with fantastic furniture pieces and amazing works of art. We stayed in the suites situated across the road and we were absolutely delighted with the spacious, luxurious accommodation. We...

The best thing about the place was the staff, Gloria and Randell , Both New at thier work had been exceptional. They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and had been so accommodating that we felt they were part of our family. (I have stayed in many hotels round the world which we cannot compare to as this was a lodge / B&B type place) , however the servic...

Fantastic. Both Wendy and Chris are so helpful and friendly. The place is beautifully furnished and really felt like a home from home. The pool is a great size and lovely to relax by even if you don't want to swim. The Hotel is close to the airport but we heard no noise at all. It is also a 5 minute walk from a beautiful beach. We would not hesitate to recommen...

Thank you Charlene and the whole Elephant House Crew! We spent 6 nights there and would be still there if we had the time. It was awesome. From A like Awesome Area with the garden and the love rooms, D like Delicious Dinner & Breakfast, F like Fresh Flowers every day in our awesome & beautiful room and everywhere else in the hotel, L like Lovely Laughter (like Charlene...

We loved our game drives at kuzuko lodge. The rangers and staff were all helpful and friendly. The cottage is modern and comfortable with everything you need. Food is excellent and children were fully catered for. breAkfast was fantastic and set us up for the day. The only critism is the long drive on dirt tracks to get to kuzuko, it felt like we were driving forever....

i book this at the last minute and we decide to go for addo elephant park mainly because of malaria free zone. we cannot do wrong with "relais et chateaux" chain. i'm very glad that we did and it worth all the penny spend. - price: zad per person sharing room (ouch!!!) - location: private reseve within addo elephant park - staff: super freindly and helpfull - ro...

Located right on the rivers edge and within walking distance of all the great restaurants Unfortunately the hotel did not have the room available that we had booked ( due to a water leak ) but managed to find us alternative rooms Staff were friendly and helpful Not quite sure of it should still be rated a 4 * - but still excellent value. Wifi was temperamental at best!...

Found Carslogie House excellent. Spacious, beautifully-appointed room with every comfort - great bed, TV, ironing board, tea-coffee, mini-fridge, wifi. Bathroom also spacious and spotless. Lovely, clean swimming pool outside your door. And breakfasts that will keep you going all day - must be best omelettes in SA! Christine, Kerry, Love and the everyone there all so f...

We stayed in the Presidential Suite, which was enormous, with a large, private terrace and jacuzzi. It was a beautiful room, with views over both the coast and hills. There are large fold-back doors, giving the best of the views and the breeze. The hotel is tastefully decorated and very comfortable. We were also delighted that there are no predators, so you can walk or...
Cheap places to stay in Eastern Cape Province

I recently stayed here with my parents, visiting us from the UK and my 2 teenage girls. There was a booking error with the room I'd booked, but the lady on reception was SO helpful and my parents were upgraded to a luxury tent that was superb! The staff are super friendly and helpful, the food is DELICIOUS (please eat here, don't go anywhere else!!) the fire they light...

First it was just a night to stay and than leave, but when we arrived, we were welcomed more than friendly. We had a nice talk and the possibility to buy meat for a low price. They have a cute cat, squirrel, meerkat and a dog and you can pat them all. Even they gave us a game drive for a small amount and they could tell a lot about the country. I would definitely recom...

Ok firstly if youve never been to Coffee Bay keep your expectations very low. The area does not have alot to offer. Already buy all your food and goods before getting here. Eagles Nest Hostel is a Backpackers so you are lines living in the bare basics. Thomas the caretaker of the Hostel is very friendly and helpful. You are about 10min walk from the beach and a 11km...

Stayed in one of the huts with double bed for 7 nights. The hut was fine, till the rain of the last 24-hours or so which seeped through gaps in the walls and pooled on the floor. The shared bathroom was fine, except being built under an existing dwelling you've got to be careful not to hit your head on the joist. A security guard watches the front of the property, ...

The room was nice and had a sea view. We had access to the kitchen and a living room to hang out and watch tv. It was located in a residential area far from restaurants and commercial stores. It's a destination for surfers but not convenient for the average traveler.

We've been there before and donated to the Pig Bank to have our names put on a pig and on the wall. We found our names and once again had a wonderful stay. Mondays are the best as thus us Steak night. Most delicious steak and side dishes to mention. They even have prawns yo add. Thank uou we will be back.

stayed here for a week whilst visiting relatives. Spacious room, everything worked well, wifi good. Nice touches like fresh milk left in fridge and kitchen well stocked with coffee/tea and everything you need. Owners away when we stayed so didn't meet them but no problems.

It was alright. The staff told us we had to share the bathroom and kitchen with someone else. Through Agoda booking, I only expect to share the kitchen but not the bathroom. Eventually, no one else use the bathroom except us. The place has been renovated. I can smell the new paint. The key for the door is a problem. We cannot lock the room door from inside. The dog fro...

Was given a free upgrade to an apartment with balcony. Fully furnished with lots of extras e.g. baby bath and bucket. Collect keys from Rose and Ale whilst the apartment (Ganube Sands) is a few hundred metres away. Spacious apartment and perfect for overnight stay or relaxing holiday. Take your own toiletries though as there is only soap. Safe and secure parking. A gre...

Stayed for one night and it was faultless. We arrived and checked in buy the host she was great so friendly and helpful. The room was amazing, we stayed in the dolphin suit. It Was clean and spacious and had all the facilities you expect. The terrace was great and had amazing views across the bay. The bathroom was the feature point it has a great Jacuzzi bath. Also the...

We booked this place last minute but got a great deal. There are two big bedrooms both with balconies and plenty of space downstairs for relaxing and cooking. The location was good, we had a car and could get to anything within 5 minutes. The views out over the beach are great and breakfast in the morning is brilliant, full fried breakfast which went down a treat.

Great compound! Room and grounds were updated, clean, safe, and very lovely. Breakfast was delicious. Hosts were very friendly. Nicer than the pictures show. Yellow lab "guard" dogs are so friendly and funny. Recommend 100% if you're staying in Addo.

Simple room but it has all the things you need, fridge, kettle, spacious bathroom , hair dryer! Personal touch, John and Marilyn are wonderful hosts. The owners made us hot drinks upon arrival, and we sat and chatted for almost an hour. Gave us good recommendations for dinner in town. We had to leave very early the next day, so the lady of the house made us a packed br...

1.Definitely great value for money especially booking via Agoda. 2.Location ,a little dodgy to find since street lighting and street markings are poor or not available, pls action this, Municipality or Lodge owners to pls put more signage to find place easier and for marketing, more people to experience the warmest hospitality in Umthatha which in most service centres ...

Even if we stayed only 16 hours at Cape Flame it was a very pleasant experience with very attentive and friendly staff. Unfortunately we could not experience the breakfast buffet as we had to leave around 5.15am but they did make a copious cold breakfast available for us the night before. We shall without doubt recommend it to our friends visiting Port Elizabeth. In ...

Quite, clean and friendly staff. We stayed in one of the self catered rooms. It was a spacious room with plenty of cookware and access to free wifi. Wifi was a little slow but it was sufficient for our purposes. Whenever we had question, the staff was friendly and delightful. We had a lovely stay and only wished we could stay longer.

I was in St Francis for business, but also had some leisure time. Debbie who was the host was amazing. I felt so welcome... it was like a home away from home. She also made some awesome recommendations on places to see and some brilliant restaurants. So I had a jam packed weekend seeing the beautiful sights of the town. The accommodation was also stunning, I really...

We slept over for jyst 1 night, but the proffessional manner with which we were welcomed surpassed normal custoner service. We arrived very early, through reception ladies, Zoleka and her colleague, the hotel accomodated us to freshen up and keep our luggage safely. The service focuses on putting the customer at the centre of all activities. The beds were very comfort...

We stayed 2 nights at the Beachwalk at the beginning of our trip to South Africa at the beginning of March. When we arrived we had a very friendly welcome from the owner, Lea, and her 2 dogs. She showed us to our room (No. 1) and we were wowed. It had everything we could possibly need, including a fridge and microwave also some candles in case there was load shedding (...

Although a bit dated, the 'cabins' are very light and airy feeling and plenty roomy, with a little porch to sit and enjoy the view. Dinners/breakfasts are convenient buffets, but food selection is very good. Staff is unbelievably welcoming and friendly . . . makes us want to come back for sure.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 4 night stay here, breakfast was great with so much to choose from, the room was comfortable and relaxing with all the facilities you could possibly require, the grounds are also lovely with much birdlife to watch. James and his staff are not only great hosts but are really helpful in advising on places to (and not to) visit and best ways to acc...

Our stay at Sea Whisper was wonderful. The owners were very helpful with suggesting restaurants etc. The staff were very attentive. The room we had was a standard double and was very well equipped and quite luxurious. The guest house itself was in a fenced and gated area and was very quiet. The only downside was that there was no door to the bathroom, but the owner...

The guest house is located right on the beachfront in a great location. We stayed in the ocean view room which was spacious clean and had all the facilities you would expect. Also the shower was amazing really powerful. The breakfast is really good hot food cooked to order and a selection of continental breakfast. Also the coffee was really nice. The breakfast room is ...

The guesthouse is excellently decorated, very comfotable beds and room sizes big. I think it should be five star rated. The staff are well trained on how to receive and take care of guests. Linda the manager is exceptionally a very warm person. I love Mulner and always look forward to staying in their facilities. I wish they had facilities in PE and Port Afred.

I travel at least once a week for work purposes and thus get to experience many guesthouses and hotels. I really enjoyed the stay at Arum. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and quite. Breakfast was amazing and actually served great coffee. I also appreciated the effort put on by staff such as Camryn. She is friendly, witty and profesional. Arum will be my go-to ac...

I had an amazing stay at Broadlands Country House and would definitely recommend/visit again some time soon. The staff are extremely hospitable, to an extent i haven't experienced any where else i've stayed in the past. Beyond the general hotel hospitality the staff at Broadlands Country House go over and beyond the care they put into their guests giving you a feeling ...

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of accommodation at such reasonable rates. The food was great (considering my special dietary requirements). It was well presented and tasty. The room was large, neat and clean. Lots of other positives as well. Only negatives were that the Wifi available was not too fast and there was stairs between the bathroom and bedroom.

Best location to visit the Addo's - elephant park and lonely dunefields too! Very attentive staffs - very british breakfast with homemade jam an bread - exit by jeep ist a great experience - 6 hours elephants, cape-buffalos and elands ... good recommendations to dinners.

We used Elephant's Footprint Lodge as an overnight stop at the beginning of our travels through the Eastern Cape. John & Carin were wonderful hosts and the room well-appointed for our needs. The outside shower was a very welcome feature especially after a long day's drive. James

We booked an overnight at 8A grahamstown and were delighted to see our accommodation when we arrived.Great welcome and we had a huge room with huge bed. Then a sitting room and massive bathroom .Beautiful breakfast. Would highly recommend this property especially if you intended to go to Pumba game reserve which was nearby.

On arrival we thought the guesthouse looked like a film set for a Tuscan villa. It was very atmospheric and had been furnished and decorated to maintain this illusion. It felt as if you were being transported back in time, expecting to see a film star of the 40's wandering through. We were upgraded to the honeymoon suite which was well appointed complete with four post...

Plenty of wildlife, but of course ,not all of the big five. Seeing the Cheetah and her four cubs was the highlight and also coming across a herd of giraffe when leaving on the internal (and very deeply potholed) road leading to the main gravel access road. The directions on my confirmation email were trying to send me 1.5 hours west instead of 1 hour east (of Graaf-Re...

Absolutely beautiful! The Managers and staff are very friendly, they go out of their way for your every need! The rooms are spacious and absolutely beautiful! Very clean and big bathroom. Everything at Singa was wonderful. The only sad part was that we were only staying for one night. The room (#11) was fantastic, though with the open bath, probably best for solo travelers or couples. The service was friendly and helpful, and breakfast was delicious. It was a perfect stay!

I chose to puck Prana for our honeymoon as it just , well I hoped was exactly what we need after a few weeks of organizing a wedding . The Sands was by far the nicest guest house to stay in St Francis, the view and proximity to the sea fantastic. I arrived around lunch time, and wanted to order lunch, but was told that the chef was off for lunch and could only help later. When I did get offered something, ...

The highlight of our stay was touring around the reserve with our guide Chris. His extraordinary knowledge of nature and wildlife combined with his friendliness and drive were outstanding.
