"Really nicely presented hotel. Was a Sunday night so perhaps they were a little shortstaffed leading to a couple of short delays with check in/check out/drinks service owing to there not being a second member of staff on duty but these were reasonable and the service very very professional and friendly. Only real thing to consider is that the room was on the top floor and overlooked the castle and the train station, the latter of which is very noisy. One of the windows did not open at all and the other stayed open only a little no matter how widely it was lifted and there is no air conditioning and the sun comes in in the evening, so I'd probably recommend against booking a room on this side of the building in the summer. Perfect spot though; close to the station and round the corner from restaurants/bars/the river."

"I got locked out of my room and the staff who were tending to the rooms tried to help me and notified the reception and told me that someone is going up to help me. After 20minutes I rang reception and the guy who answered my call would not even listen to me saying that the cards are not working and that it's the card reader that's problematic, he insisted I get my card refreshed because he does not believe me. This guy and the other reception lady did not respect my time by taking my issue urgently. I went to Newcastle from Eastbourne to celebrate my birthday stress free, yet after what happened I barely made it to my train, which they are aware of and would not even consider arranging a new ticket for me in the event I miss mine. Your upper staff needs to be retrained for service recovery and to actually learn to listen to customers instead of being dismissive."

"Immaculately clean, very pleasant helpful staff. Location between shopping and quayside so very quiet, however all uphill so if not fit wouldn’t recommend. If you want a city view remember to ask as view of side of car park/office block not so good. We had car but if arriving by train then it’s a very short walk so ideal. Another thing to ask for if a couple is non adjoining beds, the queen are 2 beds pushed together with hard join between so if on a romantic break expect to be sleeping apart. All in all nothing to make you complain about however could’ve been better with personal requests made. "

"This was a short break for my wife and I and hotel was in an ideal location to explore Newecastle from. Paid slightly more for business room and well worth the money. Access to business lounge for happy hours was a pleasnt way to set you up for the evening (though was quiet busy so do get their sharpish for the best seats). Room was of a high standard with great firm bed (which my wife and I prefer!) Only had breakfast in hotel but this was of good quality and high standard, which is to be expected from a Hilton hotel. Only negative side is that hotel is located on a hill which if you have problems walking could be quite a challenge to get down and up! On positive just over bridge from bustling Quayside so noise was not an issue late at night. Overal had a great weekend and would certainly stay again."
