This place completely changed my mind about hostels. I was initially hesitant, but due to crazy hotel prices during the dates I went to, I decided to give it a try. So glad I did. Here’s why Piece Hostel Kyoto is amazing: 👩🏻💻 Incredibly cozy and friendly: The staffs are super nice, and the entire hostel was spotless. 🛌 Comfy beds & privacy: My bed capsule was surprisingly spacious, with a warm and comfy bed. Plus, the shower rooms have actual doors (no curtains), and there’s a separate hair & makeup room with Dyson hairdryers (seriously, how cool is that 🥹) 🛋️ Awesome common areas: The kitchen, dining area, book corner, and leisure area were all spacious, clean, and well-equipped. I loved browsing their book collection 📚 - it’s full of interesting reads, and I even found some great recommendations for local places to visit. I especially love their D&Deparment, &Premium magazine collection 🥰 🚆 Great location: Just a 5-minute walk from Kyoto Station - super convenient for exploring the city. Overall, Piece Hostel Kyoto exceeded my expectation. It was even better than the pics online. This is definitely my go-to accommodation for future Kyoto trips!
Have been traveling in Japan for 9 weeks now, stayed in ~10 hostels around the same price point, I believe this is easily the best I've stayed at so far. Right from the get-go, I was impressed that the hostel was actually alive early in the morning when I arrived via the overnight bus just before 6am. Was just trying my luck, prepared to wait somewhere else with my luggage but a staff member was already there (I later realised he starts early to prepare the breakfast setup?) and I could actually check in already! Lucky for me, my dorm bed in the 6-bed female dorm was available and they let me have it, I so needed rest after not being able to sleep much on the overnight bus. More positive surprises: - The room was quite spacious, enough space for everyone's luggage, the bed was very comfortable and I really loved the ventilator in the ceiling, made it less stuffy which was a problem I faced at many capsule-styled hostels. - There're even different types of pillows for you to choose from and freely take, as well as slippers (disposable and non-disposable) available to take from a drawer. Bath and face towels as well. - Rooftop terrace was very nice to chill at with outdoor sofas - Shower rooms were very spacious and designed not like the typical Japanese hostel (white walls, white foldable doors, the same kind of shower and layout that makes you wonder why Japanese hostel shower rooms all look the same), this hostel had tiled walls and glass doors, what a refreshing change, and multiple racks to put your stuff (again, very generously designed unlike many other Japanese hostels). - And the powder room to dry your hair and freshen up is even more amazing... 4-5 dyson hairdryers?? - The kitchen area is also very well equipped (though I didn't use it, but it looked like a real kitchen that's very tastefully designed) - multiple sofas and tables to lounge at though they get filled up fairly at night. In sum, it's the first time in 2 mths that I've seen a hostel that's more like the standard of hostels I'm used to in many other countries, feels more "international" and modern, very thoughtfully designed, lots of small details that made it a delightful experience. Location wise it's super near the train station, less than 5 min walk. And cleanliness, wow this was another standard I've not seen. Staff members regularly, and I mean really regularly, come round to clean the common areas such as shower rooms, powder room, even the kitchen... No wonder it was spotless. I sat at the powder room for some time using the hairdryer and then cutting my nails, in less than an hour I saw the staff come by TWICE to sweep up hair and just tidy up. Very high quality hostel experience and super value for money, strongly recommended!
Best hostel I've ever stayed in. It was clean, comfy bed and convenient shared toilet. JR Kyoto is only 5 min walk, easy to commute with trains, subway and bus conveniently. The only downside was the sharef bathroom which is only available in 1st floor, near the kitchen/dine table and front office, so it's a bit uncomfortable to walk pass some people while still wearing your nighty😂. However the staff was really2 super helpful and have a very good English skill, communication was very smooth and easy. Last but not least, hotel staff named Huy is super kind by helping us to arrange luggage delivery to Tokyo. He is very patient and keen in order to make sure that we get the best service and experience which is a culture I knew is Japanese standard of service. I recommend this hostel and would definitely return here if I visit Japan again. Arigatou gozaimasu!
The staffs are very friendly and helpful. Also they are composed of multi-racial group of young people so everyone can speak English. The place is very clean with all amenities you’ll need for a comfortable stay. Just a walking distance to Kyoto station! I will definitely stay here again

“Good choice for solo traveler”
Facilities are good and clean. It's great to get a big kitchen to do something simple since it's cheaper to buy beef from supermarkets comparing to walking in any restaurants. I recommend the single room for girls. Plus the staff is nice. Bad part... well the door is not very soundproof, and there is only 2 rooms in toilets for each floor. The hotel is near to Kyoto Station ku-jo, it's kind of suburban and no much restaurants near. Have to cross the whole Kyoto Station get to somewhere lively. Also the bus station is not near as supposed.
