Good location before travelling to Laos in Huay Xay slow boat. Budget friendly
Loved our stay here. We had a queen room that was very clean and comfortable. The pool was lovely and the host was very friendly. Overall a great stay!
We really enjoyed our stay. Rooms are unique, facilities are clean and the pool area was lovely. Easy walking distance to many restaurants and we were able to use the bikes from Namkhong Riverside Resort.
Basic rooms, very asian bathroom. No breakfast, but 7-11 across the street for morning coffee & food available nearby from street vendors. Location is good, gardens & pool beautiful & maintained.
Really nice bungalow and great pool. Wifi was a bit unreliable in the room but good in the main restarting and they had cold drinking water and fans. Close to the 7/11 and pretty central location in Chiang Khong. Staff were nice and overall made for a great stay after crossing the border from Laos.
The room I got was pretty clean, just lacked lighting and some of the power outlets stopped working which was annoying because my friend and I needed to charge our things. The pool was nice and overall layout of the place is very chill and peaceful. One complaint I have is the lack of hand soap for the shared bathrooms.
This is like being in a tree fort dad made but when you turned out the flash light you got scared. Doors barely close and lock so not cool for a female solo travelers. Anyone could kick it in. Heard the guy below me snoring. Roosters all hours. Generally noisy. Light on outside stayed on throughout the night. Pool is amazing but there's better places out there. Didn't even bother showering because it looked freezing as it was basically outside. If you sleep naked on have to go pee in the middle of the night....
The 'jungle' setting, the nice rooms (as long as you get the ones with the private bathroom) & the swimming pool give this hotel situated in the sleepy town of Chiang Khong a cosy vibe despite the will for travellers to leave the area as fast as possible.
We stayed only one night but I can imagine to stay longer because the price was really good and we got a pretty, big room and during the night it was really easy to sleep without the noise from the street. The pool was beautiful and the staff treated us well.
VERY noisy! You literally hear everyone from a few rooms around, as all the rooms are separated by only little wooden structure.... Except this "detail" (that could cost you a night of not sleeping well cause of your happy neighbors backpackers) it's a nice place.
Good if you are heading to or from Laos. As others have mentioned the walls are paper thin. I could see the light from the room next door and the TV kept me awake.
It is hard to complain @ $9.50 per night with a nice pool, but the rooms are strings of camping cabins with paper thin walls so you can hear every word from 3 huts away, & slits for windows so when shutters are closed very gloomy
Our stay was okay in a good location with 7-11 and Khong River opposite the guesthouse. Water pressure was very very low. 7/10 I recommend.
You just cross one road, and you are at the river. I had a cheap room with shared bathroom. The bed is very comfortable, but the rooms are loud if you have loud neighbors. No problem with earplugs!!
On way to Laos makes a good pit stop. Staff indifferent- asked for pool towel- said place was fully booked none available. Place was almost empty. Joke.
The garden are well kept, swimming pools is a bonus for the price, nice place to spend a night, want to stay longer but the town doesn't have much to offer.
Everything in the room made noises. but everything else was super amazing.
Very good
Very good
This is simple and clean accommodation. The modest room charge should not cause you concern. The room and linens were clean and neat. The bed was soft and comfortable. The price does reflect two compromises: shared facilities and no AC. Shared toilets and showers were close by and also very clean. Air conditioning was not missed at all. In fact at the time of my visit the fan provided was too cold and I was happy for a warm blanket on the bed. On the plus side is a pool that was serviced the morning I was there and sparkled. Also the location is right in the center of town within walking distance of most restaurants and markets. A 7-11 is opposite the entrance as is a very popular fried chicken vendor. Good stay. Great value. Zero regrets.
Best described as "rustic". Convenient on the main street. Nice pool, although a little over-chlorinated. No restaurant or bar but 7-11 just across the road. Needed a fridge in my room (maybe the more expensive rooms have one). Overall good value for money.
The location is a short walk to the wats which is convenient, the hotel seems quite corporate and not what I'm used to. My room had a balcony looking out to the swimming pool which was good and.it was a large room which was cleaned each morning.
Best Hotel in this area. Amazing houses and very clean swimming pool. Highly recommended 10/10
Stayed in the cheapest room...unfortunately walls very thin and could hear everything from a "late night visitor plus one" shall we say. Much of the facilities unavailable on new year's Day.
This place is very quaint and cheap and the staff are nice, but oh my stars, I could actually knock on the mattress and make a sound it was so hard.
This hotel is quite OK - nothing super-special but nothing wrong. A 7-11 is opposite and in the evening you can go down to the river for a drink and/or a BBQ'd fish - really nice. The hotel's package to Luang Prabang is -as other third party offers- more expensive, but by bundling there is some extra convenience.
The resort is quite nice. It's accessible from the main street but still quite and relaxed. The garden is nice and the wooden houses have a cozy feel to them. They look nice inside too but are noisy. Noise level wise it is a little like camping because you can hear almost everything from neighbors and surroundings. All in all it's really good for the price and you even have a pool included!
Nice wood bungalow with a very relaxing pool we stay a lot of day, its perfect for chill
for the 4th time thank you for eveything just think to change the mastress in the 305 room
+ Good location near bus stop (and everything else in the centre of the town), lovely swimming pool area and cosy environment in general, easy to book the trip further from them, even the check-out was at 12 we were able to spend time in the pool area before our evening bus -no sound proofing; the noisy neighbours kept us awake
We stopped there for a day. As the next day we were moving to Laos. We enjoyed the swimming pool and we had a good rest in the room. There’s a few showers with hot water. The only thing we missed was water refill free. It’s quite common now in Thailand and that would make the hotel even better. We bought the transfer for the next day to the frontier (not the boat trip as was a bit overpriced)
Cheap stay but good value to money, very nice and helpful staff and possibility to buy breakfast and dinner. Walls in the bungalows are thin so we heard other guests, but they were polite and respectful for night silence, so no issues that time, Recommend for this price
Great place. All clean and nice and the room had even mosquito nets which was quite helpful. Very close to the bus end station and close to restaurants around.
Room was clean and large. Gigantic bathroom with hot water. FYI there is NO soundproofing and most bathrooms don't have a solid wall, so you hear your neighbors activities. On sight cheap restaurant. Beautiful onsight manicured gardens, clean pool. About 10 min direct bus to border.
All was great, courteous, and clean. With a pool!! Walkable to everything Chiang Khong.
If you stay here, you’re probably going to travel to Laos the next day. The pool is clean and lush, the rooms are simple but clean and the shared bathrooms and cleaned twice a day. We heard such mixed reviews about the night bus but I’d recommend going, the lady at the front desk helped us book everything.
“+” Amazing hidden oasis with beautiful garden and light-blue swimming pool for super fair price. Just stay for a while in this paradise and enjoy! Some cafes and 7/11 just in few steps from there. Management also provides transfer to a boarder and other tourist options that you may need. “-“ I can say that wooden fan rooms a noisy cause walls are very thin. I’m always asking to give me room without neighbors otherwise you can disturb each other.
The place is OK for a night, the pool was closed and when it's dark there is not too much light around. The woman at the reception made us wait forever until she gave us our room because she couldn't find the reservation on Agoda, but she was otherwise pretty nice. There are mosquito nets around the beds but they aren't big enough to wrap all around so they're actually useless Would stay again as it's cheap, well located.
unfortunately, don't expect transportation tips to the lao border....
I would recommend this hostel, a good value for your wallet. I really enjoyed a swimming pool.
We choose this place to cross the border to Laos the day after and we were absolutely not disapointed. You can book a last minute pick up to the border. We arrived too late to enjoy the pool but the room was really great, super clean, nice garden to relax and a typical decoration. We highly recommend you this place which was also close to where the bus drop us off. The only cons, was that the restaurant was closed when we arrived so we had to walk a bit in the empty town to find a place open to eat.
We really enjoyed our stay till the time when it was 15 min to check out and we were still in the swimming pool, when the lady with an unhappy face came to us and showed the time, hurried us to leave:( which we think might be done in the different way. Everything else was good.

We liked it very much, but fell offended by the staff member when we were still in the swimming pool and it was 15 min. till check out, we were hurried with an unhappy face expression as we did something wrong. The rest of the stay was very pleasant
Very good big guesthouse, ideally located, experienced staff, nice big garden +pool with lots of chlorine.. The more expensive rooms left of reception are specially worth their money (600 -800 bt) . The ones other side (250 - 300 bt) have one disadvantage: walls are thin bamboo, wood floor creaks, bed also. So you have to be a sound sleeper. But there are hardly any outside noises. Everything quiet between 10 pm and 6.30 am, but you know what neighbors are doing. Breakfast (not included) is the usual, You can ask for fruit /muesli, though its not on the menu. We stayed 10 days!. For someone looking for a quiet break, Chiang Khong is a good town, green, good food etc.. Biking fine...
We arrived after a long day of travelling. The location was a short walk from where our bus dropped us. The receptionist was very helpful with check in and had great English. He also answered all our questions about crossing the border into Laos and the two day slow boat. They also booked us a tuk tuk for the next day to the border crossing. The guest house was comfortable and clean and had mosquito nets provided. We left early the next morning but we would definitely stay again.
Nice clean private rooms for great price. Pool area is perfect however there is WAY too many chemicals in it to even swim there. Staff Is helpful and easy to book onward travel to Thailand here. 711 across street to stock up on snacks for slow boat and bus from Chiang Mai drops you off very close
Pretty cheap accommodation in a really nice surrounding with pool. The room was clean with mosquito nets. The walls were pretty thin though and also the karaokebar? wasn’t helping to fall asleep. But for 1 night it was fine.
“Baik”
Good prices. However, the room that I booked was quite basic and had no AC and lots of mosquitos.
