“Private onsen & mountain river nature paradise”

This Ryokan is located in Izu, Shizuoka Prefecture, about 3-4hours away from Tokyo. We stayed here to end our 8D7N Tokyo-Fuji trip and it was absolutely amazing. We got to enjoy a nice, clean, comfortable & super relaxing traditional Ryokan styled room with room service, away from the busy towns. It has 4 private onsen which do not require booking, just walk-ins. The ryokan is not that huge, so do not have to worry about many people using them at all times. During our stay, it was readily available most of the times (though we visited during May where it was not busy season). We get to enjoy wearing their Yukatas (3 different types) and enjoy the private onsens/walk beside the river/take pretty photos in it! Most amazingly, the ryokan is right beside a mesmerizing riverside, you can dine in the restaurant, relax in the private onsens, have coffee or sleep in your ryokan located just beside it and listen to the beautiful rush of the riverflow 24/7. Please try their 8course Kaiseki styled dinner & also breakfast! It was very delightful & fullfilling. I had the best tempura ever! And also got to experience grating my own fresh wasabi!! The breakfast was just amazing, we got to enjoy various condiments including seaweed paste/miso paste/seasoned vegetables/nori/wasabi/bonito flakes/white little fishes on rice with dashi! We added rice to finish all of them. Definitely recommend to finish your Japan trip here for a relaxing nature ending before heading to the airport. Just be wary of your flight and arrange ample transportation time as Izu is pretty far from the airport. We took off at Narita Airport, which is about 4-5 hours away from Tatsuta (by public transport). Denki & uncle from the front desk helped me to arrange the route to Narita Airport & also booked a taxi to the Shuzenji station (much appreciated!) Hope this review helps!

“Perfect ending for my Japan trip!”

Tatsuta Ryokan Izu is amazing! Ended my 8D7N Tokyo-Fuji-Izu trip here for the last 2 nights. Perfect getaway from the hustling town of Tokyo, a truly breathtaking ryokan surrounded by a riverside with four kinds of PRIVATE onsen! Definitely must try their breakfast & dinner right by the riverside! Food is amazing! After which you can walk out to the riverside with your Yukatas & sandals provided by the Ryokan and enjoy the serene riverflow. I took some great pictures for my pre-wedding photos here (Wearing their Yukatas) as well! Private onsen for those of you who would like to enjoy your time with your partner or shy from the public onsen (they have a male/female public onsen as well!) Only downside is it’s quite a distance to Narita or Haneda airport, i had a rough time planning for the route which included taxi/train/shikansen/skyliner to the Narita airport. So my advice is to plan your route ahead if you come to this part of Japan as it could be quite difficult and confusing for travellers (Google maps directions helped alot!)

“Three people walk together, completely satisfied. 😀”

Actually, it's not that I don't know why Agoda didn't select Friends Three for the trip! But it doesn't matter, I'll express my feelings 🎤. First, I want to convey my level of appreciation, and if I have the chance to visit Izu again, I will definitely return 👍🏻. Communication in English was very smooth; I interacted with two Japanese ladies and a non-Japanese guy, and everything went well! It's a pity I didn't ask for the name of the lady from the night we checked in; I must express my big thanks 🥹. After experiencing the hassle of buying the wrong Shinkansen ticket and waiting for the last bus, the lady warmly picked us up at Yushima! The onsen was very comfortable; I absolutely loved the sauna beds in the large bath. Perhaps everyone prefers private baths, but I was lucky to mostly enjoy the entire large bath by myself! I experienced the outdoor round private bath with two friends, but it was unfortunate that we went too late and couldn't enjoy the daytime view. The breakfast and dinner were the three meals I was most satisfied with in this moment in Japan; I was surprised to find wheelchair-accessible facilities on the side of the stairs at B1 (although I couldn't use them). The milk at the front desk was delicious; after checking out, because we missed the bus at the nearest station, the guy drove us to a further station! Although we still missed it, the gesture was full of warmth! If I go to Yoko Walk next time, I will visit again ☺️.

“This was by far the best stay in Japan.”

I really recommend staying here if you are traveling to Izu. I stayed for one night with my parents, and they were very satisfied with the kindness and thoughtfulness of the staff. The building is a bit old but it is well managed. The room is clean, and we could hear and see the creek flowing by. The futons were comfortable too. And the room was furnished with almost everything that travelers need, even cleansing oil! Above all, little details made us feel like we were staying at a traditional Japanese inn. Definitely going again if we visit Izu.

    “Intimate Ryokan”

Ideal location for a Ryokan. Meals were excellent and surrounding area is very peaceful. Stay at this hotel was most enjoyable and comfortable.
