Lingya District hotels & places to stay

My husband and I always enjoy this hotel. Staff is always kind and helpful. They make sure the cab driver knows exactly where we need to go. My husband and I appreciate the fact that the staff can mostly speak a fair amount of english. We have stayed here at least 6 times this year and we always love it. The hotel has a wonderful buffet as well with LOTS of choices, even if you prefer western food..there will be something for you. Equal to a 4 star hotel in the states, so this hotel is worth every penney. We paid around $87-100 USD for a room every time and have been exceptionally pleased. Also, there is a McDonald's and a KFC at the corner..walking distance..maybe 100 feet from hotel if you need a fast food fix western style. Great value for the money. Highly recommended! !

It was a short walk from both the Sanduo Shopping District Station (R8) and Kaohsiung Exhibition Center. So, the location was very convenient for our trip. There was some confusion at the start in trying to find the place since the staff in the front desk of the Tuntex 85 Sky Tower did not understand us. A nice lady later took pity on us and pointed us to the right direction. 1. Enter through the Ziquiang 3rd Road entrance. 2. Take the elevators at the right to go to the 12th floor. 3. Their front desk is at Unit 11 labelled 85 Good Day, between an arcade machine and a massage parlor. 4. After check-in, the staff will give you your room key and lead you to the elevator for your corresponding floor. They give fresh fruits every day except Saturday and there's a 7/11 in the 12th floor.

We really enjoyed the smart design of the room which made our stay very comfortable. Our room was on the 14th floor which provided a great city view of Kaohsiung. We took a star out in the staff category because we tried to weight our luggage as we read on the hotel's brochure that the hotel would help us with the packing, the scale did not work at first and the staff just told us that the airport has a scale also and was trying to get rid of us fast- which fell short of our expectation.

The location was excellent (close to metro station, Lingya night market, Exhibition center, etc). The room is filled with dusts everywhere and every corner. The room needs serious cleaning. There was no English speaking staff, which can be a problem for foreigners. Be aware that the hotel has no front desk, which I didn't know in advance. The guest has to call a staff at check-in and wait to be escorted to the room.

stayed here with a total of seven family and we all loved this hotel. the rooms were very well thought out. nor large or luxurious but instead with everything that you could possibly want, and nothing more. the staff were absolutely brilliant and we all agreed that the best thing about the hotel was the downstairs cafe area that had excellent coffee, icecream and popcorn. great laundry facilities which is always awesome when travelling with kids. we stayed for three nights here and were sorry when we had to leave. breakfast was one of the best we have had (and i travel a lot on business) and best of all the majority of it changed from day to day.

This hotel is located right in the city center near many restaurants, department stores, night markets fashionable shopping districts and massage parlors/men’s clubs. The nearest subway station is also only minutes away. An added bonus is that each hotel suite is ample-sized and furnished with well-maintained classical Chinese furniture. There was even a nice chess set to pass the time. All amenities appear to have been recently renovated. And the breakfast was very decent, although with mainly local food offerings. The hotel unfortunately doesn’t have its own parking facilities but there is plenty in the surrounding areas. Still, for its price, this hotel is hard to beat.

Excellent location - about 10 min walk from Sanduo MRT, 5 min walk from Kaohsiung exhibition centre LRT Station, several bus stops nearby. Near to Fe21 mega shopping mall and Sogo. About 3 bus stops away from Labourer’s night market (big scale, only on Mondays). A little hard to locate when we first got there as the 85 sky tower is shared by many hotels. Tips - entrance is the middle of the 3 facing Ziqiang 3rd road. Enter and take lift on the right to 12th floor. Then find the 7-11. Their counter is next to it. Counter lady was very friendly. Allowed us to leave our luggage till evening after checkout. Room was clean, comfortable and spacious. Toilet was a little small but we were ok with it. There’s a signage that the hot water for the shower has a limited capacity of 40L so might need to wait about 20-25 minutes between for the next shower. We learnt that the 5* hotel next door that occupied half the building closed down in July. Businesses there seemed to be struggling.

The room was as per pictures shown. with jacuzzi for 2 persons, huge bed and huge room. Its a drive-in motel with a garage for every rooms. Only inconvenience is to check-out by 12pm everyday as I booked for 3 consecutive days. In order not to check out everyday, I've to top up addition money which eventually I didn't so I could to have different themed rooms every night.

My girlfriend loved this place, and that's saying alot. There's free food (popcorn), drinks, and icecream provided by the hotel in the dining area for guests, available 24/7. This is the first hotel i've stayed in that provides this convenience. Kudos to them for it! The interior decor and facilities are way way beyond a 2 star hotel. This can be rated a high 3 or 4 star hotel, if not for the limitations of the size of the building. The location of the hotel is wonderful, really close to one of the Sanduo MTR exits, and is situated in the sanduo shopping district which comprises not only of big mega malls but also distinct lanes and streets which have a concentration of stores that sell different stuff (eg. hair styling, clothing, shoes, etc.) Add in the great pricing, and this is a must stay hotel if you visit 高雄。

For a first-timer, it may be difficult for you to spot this hotel because it is really rather obscurely located. The hotel occupies the top floor of a residential building in Lingya and due to the many street stalls around the building, you can miss the hotel quite easily. My tip is to spot for a cosmetics shop named Momo (signboard is in neon pink) and walk straight to the building next to it. Once you manage to find the hotel, it will be easy for you to travel around the district! My partner and I loved that R8 Eco Hotel has really spacious room and comes at an affordable rate, the bed is very comfortable too. Our only regret is that the toilet is too small. In addition, the hotel does not provide breakfast, but a 60NT voucher from 85 degree cafe will be given. My advice is to visit the porridge stall near 85 degree cafe for breakfast and then head over to the cafe for drinks. The district is bustling with activity at night, so you don't have to worry about traveling much to satisfy your hunger.

As a business traveller to the conference hall is very close, about 5min walk only. To the Subway, about 10mins walk. I specially like the room design, pillow, blanket, and with strong internet connection. Staffs are very friendly and willing to wait for us to wake up to make breakfast. I would strongly recommend this hotel to any travellers that will be heading to Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

The pictures of the hotel are actually accurate. It's a nice hotel with clean and comfortable rooms. The price is cheap too. Wireless internet is available on every floor, even though the signal might be a little weak depending on where you are located on the floor. The staff is very polite and friendly, and speak decent English. Also, the hotel has many features, such as providing computers with internet downstairs that can also print for free. You can also do your laundry there for free, and they even provide detergent. There are many other amenities, too many to list, such as free bicycle rentals. The breakfast has a decent selection too, although it's very similar each day. The location of the hotel is not too close to the subway station (about 10 to 15 minutes walk), but it's decently close to other places for food and groceries.

The room was big, view was city view but side city view, the massage chair was the reason we booked but its old already and not that relaxing to use, the bathtub was also the shower area. The wifi is also not working when we were there. Good thing we have our own wifi. TV volume also very low. There is a Wii available and cable. The host was accomodating for early checkin. We checkout at 12pm. overall our stay was good.

I had some problems finding the agency - props to the central desk/guard who directed me to the right agency. Tip - ask for "Eagle" or "I-gor" rather than "Holiday Inn". 85 Sky Tower where the hotel is located in is not too far a walk from the Sanduo station. The room I booked was large and comfortable, with a nice view (the Kaoshiung Exhibition centre and some construction near the water). The room was spacious and even had a Wii console, though room cleaning did not occur every day. This was not an issue for me personally, however may matter to other travellers. Overall would consider staying again if I am in Kaoshiung.

Customer service was impressive, their attention to details were good - asking you if the bottles of water was sufficient, bringing your luggage to the room, attending to you with utmost courtesy. Room was comparable to hotels, clean, comfortable, good wifi, bluetooth speaker...etc. Location wise, like most places in Nantou, accessible only by car. But they provide a carpark nearby. Not exactly cheap if you see it as a hostel, more towards market fees for a hotel. I love my stay here, will be my choice again when I'm in that area.

not too far from culture center. great respite from the urban congestion. room is cozy and you get what you paid for. bathroom needs an overhaul and is somewhat clean but not the best as it could be. counter is manned 24/7 and staff are cordial and nice. I would come again but on a short stay. good place to book in Kaohsiung as the MRT is but a nice 10-15 minute stroll away with scenic trees and elderly people doing Tai Chi nearby. Seed is a decent booking spot.

Acceptable for the price, housekeeping comes around daily. No in-room safe. Plumbing was ok. Wallpaper seams peeling. No weird smells, comfortable bedding. Has a mini-fridge, electric kettle, LCD TV with cable channels. Wifi is spotty but LTE mobile signal is good. Sufficient power sockets. Very cold air-conditioning - usually turn it off before sleeping. Pretty good value.

The only weird thing about this hotel is that it is located on one high floor of a massive block building (that floor is shared with other businesses to give you an idea of the giant scale of this building), so many rooms don't have a window. We got upgraded, so ours did have a window. This hotel was perfect for us as it was just one night before a very early flight. The staff were very helpful by reserving a taxi for us for the morning. This hotel is rather difficult to find. The surrounding area was the best we have experienced in Khaosiung with more of a local feeling. It is also not far to the Pier-2 Art Center, which we loved. My only concern of this hotel of this nature was in the case of a fire or earthquake.
