"We stayed at the Sakura Terrace Hotel in Kyoto during the busy last week of November 2013. We paid US$160 per night, without breakfast, but it should be about half that during off-peak periods. The hotel opened in October 2013. It is conveniently located one subway stop south of Kyoto station, with the Kujo station exit right in front of the hotel entrance. Alternatively, it is a six minute walk from the east exit of Kyoto station. The room is 18 sq metres, and has a decently sized attached bathroom/toilet. Comfortable bed and strong flow of hot water in the bathroom. Free wifi, fridge and hot water boiler in the room. Our room was just next to the lift, but there was no noise. Split unit aircon for cooling or heating, but, unfortunately, very limited English language TV. Free washing machine and dryer located on the 4th Floor. Bar and breakfast room on the ground floor. Pleasant English speaking staff at reception. Only smoking room was available at time of booking, but the reception staff managed to switch it to a non-smoking room. Overall, I would rate the hotel as a 4-star, even though it does not have any restaurant or room service within the hotel. (Visitors have lots of food options at the restaurants nearby the hotel or at Kyoto station.) We will definitely stay there again when we are next in Kyoto. "

"As soon as we arrived we knew we were going to have a faboulous stay Recepcion hall is an open courtyard where a nice open fireplace warms you up as soon as you arrive There is also a great bar (with an other fireplace) My boyfriend is a smoker and as in Japan smoking areas are really hard to find he really enjoyed this one as it was in a great space. After our welcome drink (which was amazing!!) we got few information about the hotel and we have been really pleased discovering the Onsen was a free in house guest facility The Onsen was great we put on our super comfy kimono and enjoyed the hot water tub. Staff was great and really helpful, they even helped us book a great traditional dinner in a restaurant. We didn't really want to leave! I highly recommend this hotel in Kyoto "

"Our stay at the Green Rich was very pleasant. I rated the food 3 but I wish there was an option such as "not applicable" since we did not eat there at all. Breakfast started to be served at 7 am and usually we were out at 6:30 since there were so many thing to do and see in Kyoto! I wish the hotel had an option of not having bed sheets and towels changed every day other than leaving the do not disturb sign at the door. We really do not need clean sheets and towels every day, but because the trash cans were small we needed the garbage to be emptied every day, since we ate breakfast in the room every morning before going out. About 10-15 minutes walk from Kyoto Station depending on how fast you walk, but we had our day passes and we always got the bus back to the hotel after a long day walking in the city. There is a but stop half block away from the hotel, and to go to Kyoto Station, just get the bus across the street. (Purchase day pass when in Kyoto if you are visiting several attraction on the same day. The pass is ¥500 with unlimited travel on the day, but you can easily spend ¥1000 if you go to 4 different places) I would definitely stay there again. BTW it was the best business hotel we stayed from the other 2 we stayed in Japan during this trip."

"The APA Hotel in Kyoto was a good hotel in a great location. The CUBE is right next door for dining and shopping, and your Shinkansen is right there for departure as well. There's a Bic Camera adjacent, if you need electronics. A coin laundry is 15 minutes walk east, by the river. It is entirely possible to walk to Chion-in and Kiyomizu-dera from the hotel - I did it. It'll make you feel like a pilgrim. (Takes about 45 minutes to get there) Really, a great place to stay. It's comparable to the Granvia, but - not being in the station itself - much more affordable."

"It was great! It's only a short bus stop away from Kyoto Station. Get on either 206 or 100 and get off at Gojo-zaka Station. Back track around the corner and it's right there. So many good points about this place: cafe on the first floor with plenty of seats and a few dining options. Staff was super friendly and helpful and spoke really good English. Beds were comfortable. In my experience, it was quiet - no noisy bed mates. At the first desk, you can rent a bike, buy an all-day Kyoto bus pass, and buy other simple amenities. Located right down the street from Kiyomizu-dera. About a 5 to 10 min walk from Kiyomizu-Gojo Station (subway station) - which along the way has plenty of spots to eat and convenience stores as well. Several shower stalls, a "living room" or shared public space with computers and free internet (a bit slow though), and free wifi. I highly recommend booking this place during your stay in Kyoto, especially if you're solo and on a budget. I would totally stay here again."

There are 7-11 and Lawson close by. The place is close to Kyoto tower and Isetan and Kyoto station. Totally is ok for spending money here."
