    “2nd stay at Arashiyama Kadensho”

Rooms are clean and traditional looking. Excellent experience. If you want your private onsen, book early. They have 5 private onsen - first come first served basis. All with a different theme. Room 5 is very pretty with a Romanesque marble theme. These rooms are okay with tattoos. They also have public onsen (only for hotel guests) and no tattoos allowed. So it's great for tourists as you can use one or the other without worrying about having tatts. They've got a massage service (a little pricey), coffee/tea/cocoa dispenser (Free), and good amenities. It's right in front of the Hankyu Line which connects you back to Kyoto or Osaka so you need not go to JR Saga Arashiyama to catch the train. There's also a coffeeshop and convenience store right outside. It's 5-8min walking to Monkey Park Iwatama and Togetsukyo Bridge. Bamboo Forest is about 20min walking but you will explore the shopping street along the way so the 20min walk will be enjoyable (or take you longer than you should if you get distracted!). Make full use of the private onsen between 3 - 6pm because guests will be busy shopping still. The onsen gets busy after dinner. Skip the dinner. The hotpot is a tasteless broth. Get the breakfast. It's a beautiful kaiseki experience. Wear your yukata (free - take it at check in) and request for a window seat.

    “Unforgettable memory at Kadensho”

My stay at Kadensho was truly unforgettable — just as I had hoped when choosing to celebrate 40 years of my career. The dinner and breakfast were exceptional; my friend even said they were the best meals he has ever had. We especially enjoyed the five unique private onsen baths, each offering a different and wonderful experience. Thanks to Kadensho's excellent location, we had easy access to the tourist spots, charming cafes, and restaurants around Arashiyama. I would love to visit Arashiyama again and stay at Kadensho.

“It was friendly, cozy, and comfortable. I would definitely revisit 100000%!”

You can rent a kimono for free upon check-in. There is a gray kimono in the room, but we rented colorful ones to wear. The cotton kimonos were clean and ironed. I liked that it was made of cotton. (I only wore it in the accommodation; I don’t think I could wear it outside.) The sliding doors and windows (there is a window at the back that does not open) give a unique traditional house feel, which I liked. The accommodation's large public bath is available both indoors and outdoors, and there are five private rooms that can be used when they are empty. We only took a quick look in the morning, but it gets better the further inside you go. There are free ramen and ice cream in the evening. I don’t usually like Japanese ramen, but the ramen here was clean and the noodles were delicious. You must definitely have breakfast. We had a Japanese-style breakfast in a spot overlooking a Japanese garden (I preferred it over the room-like space). I wanted to have dinner at the accommodation, but it can only be eaten if you made a reservation in advance, so make sure to book it right after you arrive if you want to eat there. The staff is genuinely kind. I have stayed at various other hotels in Japan (where they smile brightly on the outside but only read from a manual and don’t help) and most of them had a pretentious kind of kindness. However, this hotel genuinely tries to help and provide information. They recommended some real local restaurants, and we ended up ordering quite a few and eating them. On a rainy day, they even lend you an umbrella. The staff was friendly, and I liked the feeling of the traditional ryokan. It was great to experience a ryokan, have a Japanese home-style meal, enjoy Japanese ramen, and rent a kimono—all arranged by this accommodation. I stayed here with my elementary school child, and they said that the night spent at this accommodation during our five-day itinerary was the best. Highly recommended.

“Nice area and kind staff, but would not visit again”

Wanted to try a ryokan while in Kyoto; found this one based on reviews. It’s not fast to get to from Kyoto proper by train/bus with luggage, so we took a cab. Nice easy walk from the Monkey Park, bamboo forest, and other interesting touristy spots. Staff was super kind, and the building has lovely decor and is very serene. Unfortunately though it wasn’t quite the experience we hoped for. The bathroom/shower area smelled of sewage - though we were too tired when we realized to call and ask for another room so we just dealt with it since we only had a one night stay. Futons were available in the closet but not set up for us; we needed to set up ourselves - easy enough, just took some figuring out how to arrange the space and we hadn’t initially expected. Kaiseki dinner was in a lovely space and made with many clean and lovely ingredients, but the main protein being a block of tofu that our server told us shouldn’t be cooked in the hotpot and should instead be eaten raw was not quite to our taste (this is on us; I’m sure others would enjoy). I suspect we just had a one-off less than ideal experience, but given our experience at another (interestingly: less expensive) ryokan with kaiseki to compare this to, I wouldn’t return. It really wasn’t a BAD stay, though - the property and staff were great. Just not my favorite overall.

    “Loved every moment”

This was one of my favourite spaces I stayed in! Access - while we took a taxi to get there from the Kyoto station, we then learn it is right across from the Hankyu Arashiyama Eki mae station, no stairs so easy access with the luggage (you'll learn how important this is when you have large luggages an carry ons). And just across the bridge that brings you to the springs, bamboo forest, temples, park and the touristic area with all the restaurants and stores. There are also restaurants, convenient stores and stand within the 400m walk around the resort. Hotel/Ryokan/Resort: First this is nestle is a beautiful Nature landscape with mountain view around it. During check-in they'll give you a one-pager for the resort. you are escorted to the locker for your shoes, then the yukata room (robes that give a simple kimono vibe). we looked around the 1st floor that has the onsen both public and private. Never waited long for a private access, the public one had great hair and body products onsens and sauna, hot an cold baths coffee, matcha an chocolate (hot or ice) machine available, yakult in the morning, popsicle/icesicle available in the afternoon, welcome drinks/tea available during checkin and other tea available in the day. Didn't eat at the restaurant, it's a set menu and didn't cater to vegetarians. I'm trying to jolt own evey memory but overall not a complaint had for the entire stay. Note the onsens only close between 11-3 which i assume is to mirror check-out and check-in
