      “Quiet, spacious, and relaxing”

I enjoyed my stay at Ryokan Yamazaki. The trip from Kyoto Station was a bit of a hurdle initially, but once I located the fixed-price bus route that would take me in the correct direction, it was easy. The facilities were lovely, with ample room to stretch out and relax. The traditional tatami room came with several futon, and the bedroom had two western-style beds, so you are guaranteed to get your choice of sleeping arrangement. Watching the sunset from your own little garden just outside the building is... amazing! The staff were very kind, and breakfast and dinner were excellent. This is a getaway, not a hub for sightseeing. Nevertheless, several temples are in the nearby hills, and with some effort (in the 37-degree heat) I was able to walk to Arashiyama and back to check out all of the sights along the way. If you do stay here, be sure to visit the Desperado bar just up the road from the ryokan. The owner is very kind, and it makes for a nice, easy walk in the evening after dinner.

      “Traditional Ryokan Stay”

Got the suite which comes with ensuite bathroom and bath tub! This place is really spacious! can easily fit 8 pax although some may to sleep on tatami matts. Came during winter so the rooms can be a little chilly but overall very comfortable stay. The staff is the best and very accommodating to our request as we had to check in late and they stayed open and even gave us food upon our late arrivals. Appreciate the gesture so much and will definitely come back again

      “Good place for experience”

Ryokan with futon and typical traditional meal of Japan. It is worth to stay here for experience. An inconvenient thing is that, it is a little far from the center and not many buses for travelling.

      “Traditional Japanese style living”

Everything is so traditional. Old but clean and tidy. The restaurant is connected with the hotel and you can have simple Japanese cousine there. A bit remote from the city centre but that gives you a sense of serenity. Great if you drive as it has its own car park right outside of the premises.

      “Unexpectedly”

I requested it because the price was lower, but it was much cleaner and more comfortable than I expected. The facilities and amenities were also of good quality. The garden was well-maintained and very beautiful.
