"I found this Hotel very clean, modern and with good facilities. I suggest that you ask for a north facing room. The hotel is just minutes from Kyoto station and well located in the middle of many sights. Bus and taxis are all well within the vicinity. The staff can speak both Japanese and English and are all very welcoming. The welcome drink each night is very appreciative. I also suggest venture out of the hotel as they are a range of Japanese food places.. All you can drink coffee and hot beverage is also something we found helped. The public bath is a bit small but very well maintain and clean. The gallery, restaurant and all other facilities are very good and the hotel as whole is quite good for a 3 star rating. I will definitely recommended other people to stay here if they visit Kyoto. Prices of the vary but I suggest looking at various sites to get the best deal. "

"The location is ideal for as I was using Kyoto as a hub to do day trips and it was very close to Kyoto station. It was easy to find and a 5 minute walk to the station. The staff I spoke too couldn't speak much English but tried very hard to help. Agoda didn't list that there was a daily tax on top of the room rate which I had to pay once at the hotel. The room was small but enough space to just crash out. The aircon remote was in Japanese and needed to ask how to use. The tv channels were limited but I didn't spend much time in the room. It had everything I needed, a comfy bed, a clean room and nice aircon."

"This hotel is definitely value for money in Kyoto as we found most central places a little pricey. We got a nice room, a little small but most APA rooms are on the smaller side, it had everything we needed and just enough room for both our suitcases. The staff are lovely and try their best to help whenever we had queries and were quite happy to hold our luggage after checkout. The location of this is within walking distance (about 10minute walk) from Kyoto Station, but if you are travelling with a younger family or have more than one rolling suitcase, it's probably better to grab a cab (taxi)."

"Love the high-speed wifi and the facilities there (especially the spa and the coin laundry which comes with detergent). The location is superb, just 10 minutes's walk from Kyoto Station and the main bus terminal. The room may be small by Western standards but it was comfortable and cozy for me. It is a bit hard to find initially but the locals were friendly & helped me out. Just a short walk to Nishi Hanganji Temple. Would love to come here again in future :) "

"One big problem with this hotel - sign posted only in Japanese. Only a small sign in English next to the front door. I walked past it without seeing it at first. A larger illuminated name signage in English on the outside wall would be good. Otherwise good. Staff are not able to communicate in English much, which can be a problem. The hotel appears to mostly cater to Japanese guests. Check in/out and payment is on an ATM size machine. I first for me. Interesting. A learning experience. Budget hotel rooms I have stayed in Japan have been very clean, including the Excellence. Continental breakfast is adequate. Train station a short walk away so one does not have to wheel heavy suitcase too far. Eating places and convenience shops selling food close by. Department store at train station. A large functioning temple short walk away. If one gets to the temple between 6.30am - 7am, chanting can be heard, followed by the rookie monks procession out of the temple to another across the road. "

"Location: I arrived in kyoto station n need to walk about half an hour dragging big luggage n navigate google maps.. It is still walkable, but yeah it is quite far too. The bus station is right across the hotel where people usually buy 500yen 1day pass bus. But as i had only 1day in Kyoto n only went to Arashiyama Bamboo and Fushimi Inari, then i take the train to those 2 places from Kyoto Station. 1day pass will be valuable if u have more time to explore more temple n destinations in Kyoto. Kyoto is beautiful.. The hotel: the hotel is new, the lobby, exterior, n interior room are very good and modern. They have public hot bath seperated for men and women, which u can use without charge.. I wanted to try but as my schedule was tight then i only soak my self in my room bathtub. The room: room was very clean, tidy, has fridge, water kettle, complete amenities. Lobby also provides black tea, green tea, cayon tea, coffee fro free.. Staff: good "

"We only booked for one night to see the top 5 attractions of Kyoto. New miyako was superbly located, just in front of the massive train station and bus transits which can lead u to ALL major attractions in Kyoto. You can take the bus 100 and get a day pass for ride all u can, you can see major temples such as Silver pavilion and a nearby one with a UNESCO heritage badge. Also can get dropped off nearby Gion town with possible Geisha sightings. I was able to go Fushima inari shrine, Gion and a main temple in half a day. Second half day was able to see silver and gold pavilion, also arashiyama. Meaning location excellent. Food not a problem with restaurants in hotel and nearby groceries and huge food court in train station. We got higher end rooms than standard ones which had a nice dark vibe in the corridors. A nice four star feel. Rooms a bit larger for Japanese standard that is also why i got it. 2 single beds (a bit hard but also a Japanese norm) and a sitting area with a table. Cable tv no English channel. I will probably stay here again if I visit Kyoto again due to proximity of hotel to Train station. "
