"The hotel is very close to Kyoto station. The value for money is excellent here. However, you should expect the self-service (maybe that's how they keep operation costs low) - staff are not always there for you to ask questions. Also note that the hotel does not keep luggage after you check out, so you need to plan for the day wisely without the need to carry heavy luggage with you if you are still around for the rest of the check-out day."

"The location is ideal for as I was using Kyoto as a hub to do day trips and it was very close to Kyoto station. It was easy to find and a 5 minute walk to the station. The staff I spoke too couldn't speak much English but tried very hard to help. Agoda didn't list that there was a daily tax on top of the room rate which I had to pay once at the hotel. The room was small but enough space to just crash out. The aircon remote was in Japanese and needed to ask how to use. The tv channels were limited but I didn't spend much time in the room. It had everything I needed, a comfy bed, a clean room and nice aircon."

"I did not stay at the conventional room since I booked a dorm type room. But, this hostel is really beautiful. Yes, you can hear the sounds of the footsteps and even people talking but it's because of the thin walls of the renovated ryokan house. You can walk from Kyoto Station to the hostel (i love walking) maybe about 20mins, or u can opt to ride a bus. Ministop, Kyoto Aquarium are walking distance from the hostel. This hostel was really nice and I loved that I met other solo travellers there too. But what I loved most about this hostel was the service of the staff. Aww Japanese are so polite!! I forgot the name of the hostel staff (Aika?) she was very helpful to me. They also recommended an Onsen to me and I was delighted that I tried it!! Thankyou and I will be back again next time 😁Kyoto is looooove :)"

"The rooms were more spacious than average for Japan with comfortable beds, a good bathroom and a kettle/tea/coffee. There wasn’t a lot of storage space for clothes but we managed easily out of our cases, stored under the bed. Also there were washing machines available to use on the ground floor. The hotel is a short walk from both the main Kyoto station and the station next to the Kyoto Railway Museum (which is excellent). I believe there is also a shuttle bus to the hotel from the M’s Inn office by the station. There is no breakfast available at the hotel but restaurants and convenience stores are a few minutes walk away. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay there again."

"Recently stayed at the RIHGA Royal Hotel while visiting Kyoto and had a lovely stay. I had booked my accommodation through AGODA and was pleasantly surprised to be told that when I checked in that I had been upgraded to a suite, which was simply wonderful. First time I've ever stayed in a suite and the experience was terrific. Had so much room to move around in and it was tastefully appointed as well and clean and functional. The location with regards to its proximity to the main Kyoto railway station was about a 10-15 minute walk and once there you were able to go pretty much anywhere in Kyoto. Staff were helpful and courteous and the shuttle bus which runs every 15 mins to and from the station was also a nice bonus particularly if you didn't want to walk in the heat. Ate at their all day dining restaurant on a couple of occasions (had the lunch buffet and a la carte dinner) and everything was well presented, fresh, tasty, enjoyable and I thought reasonably priced for that sort of thing. Yes I enjoyed my stay in Kyoto and would recommend the RIHGA Royal Hotel to anyone who was thinking of going there."
