"Memorable! Great walking tour and cherry blossom viewing, relaxing evenings in quiet neighborhood. Easy access on foot or bus to NE Kyoto: we walked the Philosopher's Path with incredible cherry blossoms along the way, visited the Ginkakuji Temple, Honen-in Temple, Nanzenji Temple, Heian Shrine, Kyoto Handicraft Center and Kyoto Museum of Traditional Craft, all from the Hotel Grand Fine location, then returned to the Hotel for relaxing evening with interesting Indian music and a great bed. Nice contrast to the traditional Japanese futon bedding (which we enjoyed elsewhere). If you are interested in a Western style lodging experience while in Kyoto, this is a great choice...also with 24 hr room service. Rather expensive, however."

"We booked this ryokan relatively last minute and as a group of three, we were very satisfied with our stay. The room was very clean and spacious and we had a great view looking over the garden. The ryokan is located near several attractions such as the Philosopher’s Path and Eikando Temple. There is also a bus station nearby so you can get to Gion and other parts of the city relatively easily. Overall, we had a fantastic stay!"

"We loved the location because right out the door, on the same street ate several temples and gardens which were among the best we visited and very quiet - not with throngs of people. The inn has a great staff that supported us well in our requests and in things we were totally unaware of. At our age of 70, the bus stop was a bit far -7 minute walk- but we still used the bus pass combined with taxis. A great ryokan with wonderful Japanese bath."

"We stayed for 3 nights at Westin Miyako (first night at the Kasui-en room & 2 nights at the western style room). We just love both rooms! The kasui-en room is very nice, traditionally design with beautiful view from the balcony and also the garden. We slept on tatami & the mattras is good and so comfortable that my husband slept for over 12 hours. The surrounding area is so quiet and relaxing, the best to feel the real kyoto. We didnt go out through our balcony since it's winter and it was really cold outside, but I know the walking path outside must be really beautiful. The 2nd day we moved to the just renovated new western style room and the room is huge! It's not like most japanese hotel that has tiny bedroom. And we love the bathroom too, clean, neat and big with its shower, good for massage after your tiring day. The hotel also has shuttle bus from kyoto station & vice versa every 30 mins. The hotel is really close to the subway, only 1 min walk. And it also close to kiyomizu temple, we took taxi and it only take 10 minutes. The staffs were all very friendly & attentive and with good english speaking. We also tried the Japanese style buffet & western style buffet. Both are really good! We will surely come back to stay there again next year."
