    “Warm homestay”

I am very fortunate to have found such a great guesthouse. The transportation is convenient, with the subway just 300 meters away and the bus 100 meters away. It is directly opposite a convenience store. The hardware facilities are relatively dated, making it feel like staying at a friend's home without any awkwardness. Even as an introvert, I made friends from different countries here, and the lovely Jiro has a unique personality like a cat. On the day I arrived, it happened to be Jiro's 9th birthday, wearing an adorably cute outfit 🥰🥰. Late at night, I saw the owner and staff sitting quietly around Jiro, chatting and laughing together, and I felt a sense of healing for both body and mind. The breakfast was truly delicious, with very fresh ingredients. The owner's skills in cooking are excellent, especially the miso soup! Everything was tasty! Although I only stayed for 2 days, time passed quickly. I didn't have many conversations with the owner due to my poor Japanese, but I will miss this place. Before leaving, I drew a picture of Jiro to give to him, hoping he stays healthy. The next time I come to Kyoto, I will definitely choose this place again. 😁

“The breakfast is super, super, super丰盛.”

It's most convenient to take the bus at the entrance of Yashun, just a short walk and you can scan. The two points that left the deepest impression on me are: first, the breakfast is extremely abundant, it was the meal with the most fruit intake during this trip. The owner can whip up all kinds of Western dishes; he really knows how to cook—scrambled eggs, salmon, juice, miso soup, sandwiches, you name it. This meal alone could cover half the cost of the room. Second, the staff is very enthusiastic, especially compared to the youth hostel in Osaka. Although there's a language barrier, the attitudes of the two staff members are still very good, giving a feeling of staying at home. The infrastructure is relatively old, but it has a distinctive Kyoto character in the room. The girls' room is close to the main road, and there's often someone riding an electric scooter late at night, so to ensure quality sleep, it's best to bring earplugs. Overall, I would still highly recommend this place; it offers great value for money.

“Amazing guesthouse, excellent location, amazing breakfast ”

This is one of the best guesthouses I’ve ever been to. There are so many positive things to say about it! First of all, the owner is extremely nice and friendly and he has the cutest dog ever! The guesthouse is spotless clean and the bed and pillow are comfortable. The plug to charge your phone is located in a convenient place on the bed, making your life easier. It is also very nicely decorated and the owner makes you feel at home. The biggest highlight is the breakfast: it’s the best breakfast I have ever had in a guesthouse or hotel! There are all sorts of food: miso, rice with meat, salmon, breads, several types of salad, lots of fruit (several types of different fruit, so you get to taste the different fruits in Japan!), scrambled eggs, eggs with Canadian bacon, juice, yogurt, and coffee. It was a feast! Finally, the location is excellent: the guesthouse is in Gion, making it easy to go to several landmarks and touristic spots. There’s the subway right near it and bus stops. You can also go on foot to many landmarks as it is very centrally located. I will definitely stay here again when I return to Kyoto! I absolutely recommend it!

“A wonderful location and a surprising breakfast, but concerning soundproofing in the accommodation experience in Kyoto's Higashiyama.”

My genuine feelings about this accommodation in Higashiyama, Kyoto are as follows, as a reference for friends choosing a hotel later: Overall, this guesthouse is really well-located, close to surrounding natural scenery, art museums, and temples. If your itinerary focuses on strolling, viewing exhibitions, and visiting temples in the Higashiyama area, the location is a plus. Advantages: • You can store your luggage for free in advance, which is very thoughtful, especially if you arrive early in Kyoto and haven’t reached check-in time. • The wash area is very clean and convenient to use, giving a comfortable feeling without any mess. • The breakfast is very abundant and served buffet-style, with a variety of delicious items, especially their seafood rice and miso soup, which are really impressive. If you value breakfast, you will be very satisfied. • From a pricing perspective, considering that overall accommodation rates in Kyoto are relatively high, this place offers good value for money. Points to note / Disadvantages: • The bed has a rather unpleasant smell, which might be uncomfortable for people sensitive to odors. • The bed has a sort of “barely there” small partition; it looks fine but is somewhat cumbersome to get in; also, the bed quality is average, and lying down does not feel “especially comfortable.” • The sound insulation is very poor: • The guesthouse is close to the road, so the sounds of cars and people can be heard continuously; • Sounds from the lobby can also directly affect the room. For instance, when I stayed, a Korean girl was on a video call in the lobby, and the noise was clearly heard in my room, significantly impacting my sleep. • An additional accommodation tax of about 200 yen needs to be paid on-site upon check-in, so it's good to have that in mind ahead of time. In summary: I would define this place as—“great location, fantastic breakfast, but sleep quality comes with a discount on value for money." • If your main focus in this Kyoto trip is to visit art museums, temples, and nearby natural scenery, and you value a hearty and tasty breakfast while not being very sensitive to noise, this place could be considered, as the breakfast is genuinely delicious. • However, if you have high requirements for sleep quality and haven’t specifically planned visits to nearby art museums and attractions, I would suggest considering other quieter accommodations for a more peaceful stay.

“This is my fourth time using it.”

This is my fourth time using the facility, staying for 3 nights and 4 days. This time, I am traveling with my daughter, who is a second-year high school student. She is in a female-only room while I (the father) am staying in a mixed room. It was her first time in a dormitory, and she was a bit nervous at first, but it seems she has completely grown fond of the atmosphere at Yasun. We will be staying again together in October. Thank you very much to Ichiro and everyone at Yasun for all your help this time as well. I appreciate the consistent comfort you provide. It is also perfect for family stays, and Yasun is full of various stimuli!
