“Best and value for money hostel in Gion”
The hostel is located in the heart of Gion, and walking distance to most famous Shrines, Yasaka Shrine, Kodai-ji temple, Kiyomizu-dear and iconic pagoda of Hokan-Ji. The staffs are friendly and a young Japanese lady who is fluent in English is extremely helpful (didn’t get her name). Check-in time is at 1500hrs, therefore there will not be any reception staff around before that time. The cleanliness of the hostel is good and saw the staff actively cleaned up the bathroom and futon bed after guest checked out. There will be only 3 shower rooms at level one and there is enough WC at level one and two for all guests to use. There will not be any locker for individual to place their luggage and luggage will be kept inside the bunk bed (enough space to put at least two cabin size luggage.) A drawer inside the bunk bed can be pad-locked to keep valuables. Common area has TV, kitchenware, fridge, tables for all guests to use. Initially, didn’t have too high expectation for the price paid and it turned out to a very pleasant stay for my 4 nights. This hostel deserves a thumbs-up. I will be staying again if I ever go Kyoto. Arigato Gion Ryokan Q-Beh and staff.
