“A really great experience - but expensive!”

Worth it for an overnight taste of a ryokan - the communal bathroom especially was fantastic.

    “Very authentic ryokan in Kyoto”

Pros; very authentic stay. Very nice onsen. 10misn walk from the station. Right next to a temple. Nice staff. Cons; i do not recommend taking the breakfast nor the supper (13200¥/persons). the food was not that good, but very large amount yes. The rooms is kinda cold but there was 2 heater provided.

    “Fantastic Ryokan in Kyoto”

Gion Hatanaka was nothing but amazing. We stayed for 1 night, and from the moment we arrived, the staff at Gion Hatanaka was nothing more than accommodating and fantastic! They held our bag both before check-in and after check-out. They brought our bags to our room, and our room attendant was absolutely amazing. We opted for the dinner and Japanese breakfast, which was fantastic, plus they even asked us if we had food preferences! Dinner and breakfast are mainly seafood based, and quite filling. We also had easy access to some of the main temples and shrines in the area. We used the public baths, which were very relaxing, and had them all to ourselves. We had a wonderful staff, and will definitely return and stay again! Thank you again!

    “Such an experience”

Our wildest expectations were surpassed at Gion Hatanaka. The service was impeccable and the food sublime. Ate like kings. While it might sound kitschy, guests should partake in the maiko dinner. It will not disappoint.

“Gorgeous Ryokan with Superb Staff + great location”

I don't have any negative thing to say about this ryokan. The only thing is that because the food was so amazing that we stuck ourselves there for dinner for all those 4 evenings that couldn't explore more due to it.
