Where to stay in Yala
Yala hotels & accommodations

We only stayed in Cinnamon Wild for 1 night. Its one of the most popular hotels in Yala National Park so it is packed with groups and tourists from all over. If you are not into that, you better skip it! You are surrounded by nature and animal so it is very relaxing. It is located in the middle of the National Park so it was convenient to start a Safari from there (yo...

We travelled 12 days and stayed in 8 different hotels in Sri Lanka. This one dedinetly made it to the top one. 10 min from Yala National Park entrance, with beach and extremly long pool. The breakfeast was huge and quality of food also for dinner was excellent. We finally again could enjoy good espresso :), which is not always easy travelling through Sri Lanka. Rooms a...

Nice hotel with great pool to relax after a long safari. Hotel offers great value for the money compared to a lot of other places in Sri Lanka. Staff is nice and helpful. Breakfast was good. Average but ok food in the restaurant though it is a little pricey (Lack of alternative restaurants in walking distance). You should check with other safari operators for Yala Safa...

We stayed at Chena Huts for two nights during our two week honeymoon vacation to Sri Lanka & the Maldives. The property is situated just outside the Yala park. The accommodations are beautiful and the staff is so friendly. It is unlike any other place we have ever visited and we would highly recommend. Definitely make sure you do at least one afternoon safari.

We had two nights at yala safari camping with our two young children. The beauty and views from the main structure are indescribable. Just amazing. The staff are very attentive and tents are stunning. The staff even surprised me with a birthday cake. Then there was the food! This was just amazing. The chef kelum did such an amazing job and was the best food we had on o...

We absolutely loved this hotel, and particularly it's location on the shores of the lake. The view from the garden and our balcony over the lake filled with water lilies and dotted with small boats was fabulous. The resort was beautifully decorated & furnished. The bedroom was gorgeous. The bathroom had the best shower of anywhere we have stayed in Sri Lanka. Breakfast ...

The Blue Turtle was a wonderful place to stay - and probably our favourite place to stay in Sri Lanka. We couldn't fault it at all - staff very kind and helpful, room delightful, pool a very nice temperature, and food delicious. Their Sri Lankan breakfast introduced us to curd and honey which is now one of our favourite desserts. Very convenient to get to Yala.

One of the best holidays we've had the service and the standard of the hotel were above and beyond what we were expecting. From start to finish every staff member went out of there way to ensure that our stay was the most comfortable and enjoyable it could be which it was!! the standard of the food was amazing and we just kept saying to each other i don't know how they...

Beautiful hotel with imaginative architecture; modern twist on indigenous Sri Lankan styles. Buildings raised on heavy stilts with big balconies overlooking the beach and steeply pitched corrugated iron roofs. Lovely infinity pool, long enough to swim and do proper lengths. Beach long, gorgeous and completely deserted although the sea was too rough to swim in. Lovely ...

I thoroughly enjoyed being away from the hustle and bustle of the city (although you still do experience a bit of the bloodlust on the safari as tourists chase around in a bid to find wildlife). The staff were great, friendly and attentive. The food was pretty standard but that didn't bother us, there were bugs aplenty, and the mid-afternoon heat was almost unbearable....

as a solo traveler who is a wildlife adventurer and photographer, i decided to stay here because of the location. it is at the yala junction, between tissa and kirinda, just nice if you'd love to visit yala national park to east, and bundala national park to the west. along the way, there are many attractions of interest as well, such as wirawila wewa bird sanctuary, v...

My wife and I spent three days here as a part of our honeymoon. The staff were amazing and looked after us with great care, always waiting until we had left our room before cleaning, organising a massage and a safari. However the massage is quite expensive as is the food, and the menu doesn't seem to offer many Sri Lankan dishes. That said we were treated to one of the...

Pros; very practical and good attention to detail in bedrooms making this one of the best hotels we stayed in Sri Lanka. They even have proper plastic towel racks so that we don't have to hang stuff all over the place, rooms and toilets are brightly lit, clean white walls and tiles so that any mosquitoes can't hide, good wifi in rooms, comfortable beds, clean and new...

We had a marvelous stay at Kithala Resort, Yala, Sri Lanka. Wonderful staff, extremely friendly, provided us with very good service. We were always made sure of how the service was, whether it was pleasing and anything that the staff could offer to make our stay memorable. We must recommend the senior server (Bandhusena – as far as we can remember his name) who provide...

Hotel is superbly located for Yala safari and incredible vfm. We paid £100 half board for 2 nights. Fixed menu for dinner may not suit all, but 4 courses were very good. Pool is lovely and our room overlooked the beautiful lake. Staff can not do enough to please. Not a 5 * luxury hotel, but perfect for the location. The hotel is remote and not really near any other r...

Yala adventure 's environment is so great. There are many trees, plants and butterfly garden and a lake. All of these are so natural. The Room clean and tidy. We arrived late because of raining. The manager and staff are kindhearted and warmly. They welcomed us and we felt so warm and happy. We had dinner and tried the Sri Lanka hand pilaf with the manager's guide and ...

Ok..we stayed here as a family of 4 for a couple of nights. Location is decent. Just 20 min or so from the park entrance. Beware though. We booked on Agoda, which said there was WiFi. There was no WiFi. This may not matter to you, but it wild have been useful to have. The food was very mediocre. Dinner was basically rice and curry. One day we waited almost 3 hours for...

Can't complain. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay. You could visit Kiri Vehera, Kataragama Hindu Temple, Situlpavva from here. Hotel arranges a Yala safari, which is reasonably priced. Ransu the driver was pretty helpful. A little more training and he could be an awesome guide/tracker for Yala visits. You could also do a night safari on Kataragama Buttala road, where you are...

I found Travellers Home an ideal place to stay in Tissa for my tour of Yala NP. I arrived with a Danish woman who was on her third visit. The owner & staff greeted her like a long lost friend. Throughout my stay everyone from the owner to the kitchen hand and gardener were friendly & helpful. I was on the ground floor where the cooling breeze was not as strong as upsta...

One of the most pleasant stays we had in Sri Lanka. The hotel staff is absolutely wonderful with attention to every detail and possible need you may have. Simple gestures like presenting your welcoming drink and packing your breakfast from your early Yala National Park safari trip made the stay truly memorable. They even provided accommodation for a driver we had hired...
Cheap places to stay in Yala

The owner has lived in Germany for a while and is a really friendly man, who likes to make people happy. The rooms have a mosquito net and are quite big, but could be cleaner. Thanks to the tour guide, who drove me around and showed me temples, the beach and the jungle. Really friendly man, who also organizes tours in Yala, that I can recommend to do. Good price as wel...

i dont write reviews but this new setup deserves encouragement. At dirt cheap price they provide you with all essentials. Safety, location, comfort and great hospitality. they go out of their way to arrange cheapest and best safari expeience for travelers, And specially help solo travelers to get shared rides in the national parl

For us was this by far the best place we stayed during our three weeks visit to SriLanka. The owners (brother and sister) were so friendly as it feeled like home. The brother cooked very well and toke us to the Perahera in Kataragama which was great. He makes the bezt egg fried rice we ever tasted. The sister is so kind and anticipated on each situation (free bikes,...

Great value and great hospitality. The setting is beautiful, just back from the shore of the lake. We didn't go on safari but it's near both Bundalla and Yala national parks. The hospitality was fantastic - attentive and helpful. The only downside is that there's not much around the area. Food was offered, but the menu was limited and expensive so we walked the 5 minu...

staffs are super friendly. got the safari tickets through them but dont expect too much on the safari, we didnt see much but it is expected because this is just depend on your own lucky for what you get to see on the day. clean room, no hot water for shower but it doesnt bother me much since the weather was hot. unforgettable experience because the staffs would try...

I would recommend to anyone. The staff were amazing especially Bala. The food was the best we have had in Sri Lanka. We booked our trip to Yala through the hotel and it was very good. We were given a breakfast pack to take with us which was a pleasant surprise. And yes we saw two Leppard on separate occasions along with a host of other animals.Take note it is a r...

This hotel is absolutely prefect once you enter its grounds with nice garden, big rooms and aircon. The staff really try and help out with any questions however their English is limited. Wifi is good and we really enjoyed the use of a hot shower which can be hard to come by in Sri Lanka. Location is the only thing that kind of let's it down, we felt like we were in the...

This is a family run guesthouse and this is a great thing - it's all about the owner! The gentleman that runs this place is extremely helpful, attentive and polite. He helps when you need it but never disturbs you. You can tell he and his family like what they do - the place is very well maintained and very clean - the buildings, rooms, garden. Rooms are not huge but m...

We stayed for two nights and the host Shantha honestly takes you in like his own family and makes your experience something to remember. The food over the two days was sensation with such delicious fresh seafood! Your safari to Yala is easily organised at a very reasonable price and he will pack you a take away breakfast for the early morning start. After our safari Sh...

An exceptional place to stay - fantastic value for money, rooms are large, luxurious and spotless. Location next to jungle and rice paddies, feels like being in Yala National Park! Staff incredibly friendly and helpful, manager gave us a lift multiple times into town free of charge. Booked safari through the hotel and could not have asked for more. Our driver and guide...

I visited Yala Hide on 07.08.2018 with my wife and 2 kids of 4 years and 2.5 years. It is a family owned property run by a professional and the care taker and the staff is extremely supportive. It is situated about 7kms from Tissa town on situlpawwa road. The room is huge as well as the bed. The room is well furnished and AC and hot water is there. Bathroom is large an...

We stay there 3 nights at the end! Was the best part of our trip!!! We love everything about this place!! The cabana is just very cute with an amazing view!!! The owners were also so sweet, we spend much time with them playing guitar and amazing some arack! They cook for us breakfast and diner! Was some of the best food i tasted in Sri Lanka! Also we booked a safari tr...

We loved our time here in the tree house and wish we could have stayed longer. We will recommend this wonderful experience here on the lagoon edge, perched up high in the trees with this lovely family to everyone. They were so helpful and caring, prepared us a beautiful dinner and breakfast, everything was very clean and tidy. We slept soundly in the comfortable bed. T...

We have been travelling around Sri Lanka for the past two weeks and this accommodation has been the best yet! Having never stayed in a tree house before we were not sure what to expect but it was brilliant, I think I have slept the best here for our two nights than I have elsewhere in Sri Lanka! We didn't venture out for food because the food here is the best we have t...

This was a very comfortable bungalow for a family of five or two couples. The service was exceptional. Later I found out that management was the same as for Villa Acacia at Nuwara Eliya which is also an exceptional place. The rooms are air-conditioned and there is a mini fridge for you to store your drinks. There is tea and fruit available free of charge, a rare o...

This was the cleanest place I stayed my entire trip in Sri Lanka. Very modern rooms that are very well priced. The food was also excellent. They arranged an incredible Safari into neighboring Bundala national park that was MUCH cheaper than any safari into Yala and without the crowds. The only slight downside is that because it is right next to the entrance to the park...

We had an amazing experience here! We stayed for 2 nights - the room was really nice, clean and spacious with a big balcony! Our room also included a great breakfast. We did a safari with the home stay owner and wow was it amazing! He's been a guide of yala park for 15 plus years. We literally saw every animal that there was to see by 10.30 am! We even saw 4 leopards...

Small family owned with only four rooms. The rooms are basic but clean and with all you need. We had chosen the hotel for its location close to Yala and the hotel arranged the perfect full day safari with the best tracker. We got to see the shy leopards, elephants, crocodile and many other animals. What makes this place special is the owners - they are so nice and goes...

Really lovely people and very clean room. It is about 10 minutes walk to the beach. They do a very good breakfast and are always helpful. Comfortable bed, great bathroom and nice room. Area is quiet other than the usual sounds of dogs which seems to be everywhere in Sri Lanka!

The staff at Victory Guest House were very helpful in arranging a safari at Yala on New Year's Eve, when it was difficult to get a safari due to high demand. They also waited up late for us to check in, which was much appreciated. The guest house is located not far off the main road in Tissa, and is a good value. There were lots of mosquitoes, but the owner was kind en...

It is a new and very clean place with good sized and comfortable beds. The owner is very supportive. He also arranged a safari jeep with breakfast. It is a more secure option compared to finding a one from a roadside jeep park and is cheaper as he owns it. Food is not an issue as there are several places in the neighbourhood. We really liked the stay.

First of all, this is not my first hotel/resort that I have been. Therefore I can compare it with enough facts. I'm not compare this place with foreign places but with another local places. Main disappointments are as follow in bullet points. 1.) There was a rat in the cupboard where mini bar was located. (I do have captured images of that but no place to upload in t...

Our experience at Moonlight was incredible from start to finish. If you can spend at least 2 nights, you will not regret your decision. This was one of the best places we stayed in Sri Lanka and will remember so many of the details for yesrato come. The food was incredible,we had a fish dinner and a huge Sri Lankan breakfast. We rode bikes to the lake and bird watched....

The hotel is very new and the staff is very friendly. The room was very very good! If you book Yala National Park via the hotel you’ll get an excellent driver. Our driver had 28 (!) years experience. His name was Bindo and he gave us a beyond wonderful experience! We saw all animals we wanted to see an more. Food in the hotel was reasonably priced, but it took a while...

Of the many hotels we stayed in Sri Lanka, I want to say this is the BEST among its peers. We stayed at its family room, which was essentially one triple room and one double room interconnected and sharing a common balcony. (Although we failed to open that connecting door..) The rooms were spacious and well-equipped. The hotel has a swimming pool (surprise) and a bat-w...

From our 1st inquiry with Shehani to our final good-byes with Manju, every expectation was exceeded at Kulu Safaris. Attention to detail and 5* service are as abundant as the wildlife here (and there is lots!). The staff are knowledgeable, professional & great with kids. Manju, our naturalist, was fantastic. TENTS were spacious, clean, private, and perfect for a famil...

It's a new camp run by Marc and his lovely family and team. They definitely go the extra miles to make your stay as comfortable as possible and offer you the authentic experience in Yala. I had the best devilled chicken in the entire Sri Lanka! The camp is located just at the boarder of Yala, where you can spot animals wandering around. Plus, they also adopted these fo...

It's lucky that we are the first clients of this hotel. Close to Yala national park. 8km and take Jeep for 30mins. Hotel owner is very nice, he took us to local temple and visit their pray process. Besides, he offered us a free nice dinner there since we are their first client. Welcome fruit also nice. And then he drive us to Mirissa. It's a great experience and very c...

We have 8 people in the same group. The room downstairs is very nice and comfortable. If upstairs there is no air conditioning, it is not very good.We cook in a hotel and need to buy our own condiments. The restaurant is also very warm. It can seat just 10 people. There's also a big courtyard. It's a suitable vacation place.

Hotel was very clean an the owner was was great. The hotel wasn’t very busy so we got upgraded an the room was great, lots of space an very clean. They sorted our safari out and even got up extra early to make us some breakfast to take with us. Would definetely recommend it specially if you don’t want to be in the centre of town as it’s about 10mins our by tuk tuk.

Just idyllic. A fantastic, solid feeling tent right on the beach. We absolutely loved everything about this place but you should be aware of the following: there is electricity and a fan but no air conditioning or wi fi. The beach is immaculate and beautiful however it is totally natural and so it can be dangerous and is not the kind of beach where you can leave kids t...

Good hotel near Kataragama with all required facilities and a pool with underwater music. Close proximity to the temple. Rooms are spacious and clean. The only negative point is the safari services arranged by the hotel. I would recommend the hotel 100%, but not it's safari services. The safari guy charged us unnecessarily even though he rejected the necessity of a g...

This lakeside gem boasts spacious cabanas with screens and cream curtains on all sides, a king bed hung with mosquito netting, natural wood everywhere, including the shower, and a magical air. We arrived late with take-away dinner and the folks at lake view cabanas set up outdoor seating lit by kerosene lamps. Very generous and lovely, they also arranged for a Yala saf...

We loved everything about our stay at Leopard Trails Camp. Despite a late arrival, Pani the manager was personally waiting to welcome us, oil lamps and camp fire were lit, excellent Sri Lankan dinner was ready and served. Beds are extra comfy and a generator provides enough power to operate a fan and recharge batteries for all electronic equipment and cameras. The camp...

Yala is famous for nature lovers. Wildlife, Bird Park, Beaches, Ancient Religious places most the things nature lovers looking for are around.
I think a full day safari is enough, some people stay up to 3-5 days, it's just too much. We saw everything in one day.
Yala is the name of a closeby national park and not a city. the closest city is Tissamahahahahararararararama or something like it short Tissa.
Yalla is a quiet city. The main attraction is the yala national park wild safari. We were quiet lucky that we saw almost all animals in the park.
