Suncheon-si hotels & places to stay

I came to Suncheon to meet a friend and was pleasantly surprised by the guesthouse I found there! The owners are friendly and helpful, the building is clean and rooms are cute (although dorm is a bit small). Also, they include breakfast which is more than just the usual instant coffee and toast you find in most hostels in Korea. Next time I visit Suncheon I'll definitely stay again.

This hotel is right in the middle of the Suncheon restaurant district near the train station. I used it as a base camp to kick off a ride of the Seomjigang trail. Room was very welcoming and excellently priced. It had all the amenities you would expect from a hotel. The hotel has a built-in pub which looked great but I wasn't able to partake as I was leaving on my ride the next morning at 6am!

The hotel is very strategically located near bus and train terminal - within 5-10 minutes of walking. Room is very comfortable and clean with heater floor and all facilities necessary for a budget hotel. The hotel exterior is sweet and free coffee is available at the reception. The host is super friendly giving us ride to bus terminal and recommending us all cheap/good restaurant and eatery places in Suncheon-si. This hotel is worth staying again.

Suncheon really is my greatest regret. Stayed here only 1 night. I should have stayed at least 2, if only to sleep one more night in Namu. Suncheon itself is a very beautiful town and Namu Guesthouse completes the experience. When I arrived in the afternoon to check-in, the woman at the lounge even offered me iced coffee to drink, which I would have taken if I wasn't so excited to go out and explore. After a tiring yet fulfilling day, I went 'home' to a clean and comfortable bed, clean bathroom, and a very serene common area, where I got to chill at night. I don't know if it was because it was the summer season but both times I stayed at the common area (night and breakfast), I was the only person there. So if you're looking for a rowdy guesthouse this is definitely not the place. But for me it was perfect. One thing to note though for foreigners, the staff are very friendly but are not really good in English. So make sure to do all your research about the place before you head here. Other than that, Namu is perfect. :)

The only knock (in my opinion) on this hotel is probably what others will find they like the most. Its location; first you have to know Korean (and luckily I do) but to find it was a struggle, even with navigation on the phone. Google maps doesn’t want anything to do with South Korea and we were so off the beaten track Waze kind of shrugged its shoulders and didn’t help. Thank goodness Apple Maps worked. It can’t pronounce Korean to save its life but it worked. The hotel is in a cute valley surrounded by rice paddies next to a lovely little lake. No street lights, so when the sun goes down that it it until tomorrow. It is clean, comfortable and a great price. They don’t have a restaurant but there are several about a mile away.

A spacious studio (with balcony) like you stay in own home, well equip with everything include kitchen facilities (cook pot, pan, electric stove, chopping board, oil, etc). Not recommend for heavy cooking as this is open concept studio. I lost my passport in Suncheon Bay Garden. Went to make police report, the pension owner came to pick us from police station. Next day 7am, she offered free ride to us from pension to KTX station. She has been very helpful when we under such stressful situation. A great Thank you to her.

We were visiting Suncheon for the weekend to see the bay and the garden expo, and wanted somewhere nearby to stay. The Reed House was perfect - a beautifully maintained traditional Korean house in a peaceful village of similar houses an hotels close to the bay. Our room was clean, simple and comfortable - not very well insulated for noise, but that was our only complaint. The women who greeted us was very friendly, and even drove us to a nearby restaurant in the evening. Not much English spoken, but communication was no problem. The room was excellent value, too, and highly recommended for a stay near Suncheon Bay. Note - the hotel is a 6/7,000 Won taxi ride from Suncheon bus terminal, but easily found based on the address on the booking confirmation. It's within walking distance (20 minutes) of the bay, where there are plenty of cafes and restaurants, and a nice ecological park. From here you can catch a free shuttle to the garden expo, which is running until the middle of October 2013.

I visited this hotel with my family... and very embarrassed.. Amenities were good, room condition was good. so i couldn't see any staff and the gate was actually hidden in the garage... there were some cookies and candies and coffee in the 'lobby' but there was no staff at all! The location is isolated, away from downtown. That's the reason of the relatively cheap price for such a good facility.

This comment should be for Nreem but not for Suncheon Namdo as it is closed. I am so sorry that i found difficulties to find the new location of the guesthouse as i had been to Suncheon Namdo just in April. Thanks for the help of the locals to help me find out the guesthouse in the end. Thanks for the understanding of the host and the help of the staff to help me book further accommodations as i do not know Korean. Nreem is a lovely place near a river bank. It is just in between train station and bus terminal. There is a local market nearby. Perfect location to travel around!

Everything was great at Baguni Hostel I stayed for 5 nights and could have stayed longer. There aren’t many vegan options locally so the hostel helped me locate a local supermarket to buy food, and I managed to use their kitchen everyday to cook. The beds were so comfortable and the showers were great. The Baguni operate a token system, where you are given so many tokens per night of your stay and I put them to good use, redeeming them to use the laundry service, breakfast and a few beers too! If I was ever to return to Suncheon I would definitely stay at Baguni hostel again. Also a special mention to the staff, who were amazing :-)

The location was perfect for me. I arrived at the bus terminal and took a taxi to the hotel (2,800 won). The driver hadn't heard of the hotel, but it's very close to the train station, so I had him go there and followed the GPS to the hotel. It's back down a small alley which was still busy enough that I felt safe after dark. There are lots of small Korean restaurants and convenience stores near the train station and hotel. I took the all-day tour of Suncheon offered by the city (16,500 won), and the hotel's location made it very easy to go to the pick up point and back. (I also highly recommend the all-day city tour, especially if you don't have a car.) The hotel provided shampoo, soap, hand towels, tooth brushes, hair dryer. The AC and TV worked well. There was a water dispenser in my room with hot and cool drinking water. No fridge or microwave. Very clean. The bed was hard, but I still slept well. All in all, I'd stay here again if I came back to the area.
