Where to stay in Pretoria
Pretoria hotels & accommodations

In order to avoid traffic I stayed at the hotel to attend the In Good Company 2018 conference It was so convenient for the atterbury theatre with many shops and restaurants within 200m for dinner and lunch. Breakfast in the hotel was good but over priced considering the competition just outside the door.

The Capital Hotel is a new hotel in the Menlyn Maine area. It is conveniently located in the fastest growing business and entertainment area of the Pretoria and bigger Tshwane metropolitan area. The hotel provides everything needed for business, traveler and short term stays. The staff are extremely friendly, accommodating and helpful. Rooms are fair sized and provides...

I first stayed at Villa Sterne in 1998 and 1999, so I was anxious to see if it was as great as I remembered. It was even better! Joy and her staff provide outstanding service, even setting up a Pretoria city tour on short notice. Villa Sterne is in an up-class residential neighborhood (an embassy is across the street) and is totally walled. It has a great view of down...

We stayed at the courtyard hotel for a single night on our way through Pretoria. We were very happy with the service, staff and the lovely old manor building, which houses the reception, lounge, and dining facilities. The rooms were large and well appointment, in a modern interpretation of the old world style of the establishment. The only hiccup was the double-booking...

The hotel is amazing and value for money. Enjoyed every moment of my stay without any complains. One thing I think the hotel should consider is having small refrigerators in the standard rooms. I am not sure if other rooms do have but it is something that even those who stay in standard rooms should have.

The place was cozy and lovely. Moses is simply the best and responds promptly on requests. . They should pay attention to details when cleaning the room. We found a dirty container in the microwave, and spider webs in the kitchen. They should hire more cleaning staff. Other than that, the place was really lovely and secured, I will definitely recommend this place and...

There was a water crisis around pretoria which affected our stay badly. Using a bathroom or toilet was always a struggle..the reception staff did not make life easier either. But their hotel is in a convenient spot, it is clean and most of all affordable..

Unfortunately due to there being groups booked in for events, things can get out of hand. On Sunday morning I was woken up around 5am by people talking and shouting at the top of their voices as they were getting ready for their functions. People were running around the corridors and sleep became impossible. The hotel was transformed from a haven of peace and tranquill...

Great location in the Eastern suburbs of Pretoria, close to N1 highway and Menlyn Mall. Clean, no frills accommodation, reception friendly and helpful, room functional but slightly tight on space, adequate. Better breakfast than many more expensive establishments. Restaurant next door for other meals later in the day. Good deal all round, recommended.

Most travellers will find very little to complain about - and rightly so - when checking in to this guest house. However, I was slightly irked by two things: the lack of parking on the premises for my vehicle, despite the fact that I was given every assurance that it was secure outside the property, and, secondly, the road noise from the highway that is nearby. The lat...

As I had to work as well in JNB as in Pretoria this nice Hotel was perfectly located. nice big rooms, well protected area. very clean and spacious rooms and a helpfull staff. Rooms were very clean. good breakfast. the place is little bit loud as there are highways nearby. Check out time should be revised - 10am is too early for a weekend. will for sure come back!

This hotel looked LOVELY & we expected a great time. BUT WERE WERE MASSIVELY DISSAPOINTED ! The quality was not as good as the photos. The staff were lazy & disinterested & incompetent. (especially Reception). The rooms were LOVELY but super noisy with loud staff & guests. Staff & guests control what your experience will be like. Bad staff & unsophisticated guests = b...

Faircity Grosvernor Garden is well located in the heart of pretoria in Hartfield. it's close proximity to gautrain and most high commissions and embassies is a plus also there are a myriad of restaurants and eateries within short reach of the hotel. It was certainly an uncomfortable stay. Firstly the toilets were not cleaned when we booked in. We had to ask for it to be cleaned as feases were still in the toilet pan. Secondly we had to use the same towels for the three days, two nights that we were there. Thirdly, there were no air conditioning nor a fan. We had to contend with the Pretoria heat as we stayed there...

My daughter and I slept over for her dancing competition that was just around the corner. What a beautiful hotel, very friendly staff and amazing facilities. The room service food was amazing and the breakfast too. Would definitely stay there again!

We were very happy with our stay at Capital House. The rooms are furnished well, bed and pillows are great quality - crisp, white and clean linens. My only suggestion would be to ensure that there are adaptors for cellphones/appliances provided in the rooms, as well as hairdryers - which always adds a touch of convenience. Breakfast was nice - but the star was the fres...

What a beautiful residence to spend a night ( or even more than one). The host Pete was welcoming and very accommodating. The rooms are great and the bed was super comfortable. Breakfast was delightful in a beautiful setting. omelette is the best Highly recommend this guesthouse especially if you like a bit of bygone charm.

The Wardrobe Guest House was perfect for our needs in all respects. The location was perfect for the University Registration at University of Pretoria, it was close to amenities with easy access onto main roads and shopping centers. The owner was warm, friendly and helpful as were her excellent staff. We will definitely stay there again.

We went for a baby shower in Centurion and searched for overnight accommodation close to our friends. We come from the countryside and therefore searched for a quiet place that is not so close to the hustle and bustle of city life. We were amazed at Pheasant Hill's location and the beautiful surroundings. Pheasant Hill and it's friendly staff, especially Thabo who welc...

The setting is beautiful, the staff is very friendly. The room (44) is small, non matching light bulbs, very dim lighting, no desk top lamp, no make up light, no warm blankets, cold floor. My first impression of the room was that smokers had stayed in this room, it didn’t smell fresh. Breakfast.. not sure if that was filter coffee.. ? Beautiful fruit at breakfast buf...
Cheap places to stay in Pretoria

I found my stay as very homey. The kitchen is always open for a cup of fresh coffee. the rooms are spacious and very clean. There was also no disturbances and you can come and go as you please without any problems. The guesthouse is also situated in a neighborhood that is save and within walking distance of Loftus. The indoor parking for your car is also a big bonus as...

It is a really great guesthouse in the quiet neighborhood of Pretoria. The room and bathroom were huge (the room was equipped with a kitchenette), it had a private terrace and we could park our car just in front of it. The staff was great and breakfast just perfect. I would definitely stay there again if in Pretoria.

From the moment we arrived to the time we left we felt that we were well looked after. A very warm welcome form Suzette who could not do enough for us. The facilities were comfortable and you could come and go as you pleased. I will be booking to stay every time I am working in the area.

Great location at great price and beautiful place, but the parking space is tight very small , the gate sensor needs to be changed as my car was scratched due to the gate closing on us while we waited for the other car to move forward so we could go park inside but the gate just closed on us , it happened on two occasions so please fix the gate and parking space , cle...

my stay there was ok, firstly the lodge don't open until 8am, which is not too good...was delayed at the airport to get clearance form the hotel and I am not happy about this, I booked for a triple bed and I got charged for it, the receptionist gave me a single room instead, no toothpaste in the lodge, I had to go complain about this to her before she gave me her perso...

I am forever booking Private Apartments when travelling to Pretoria or GP. It was the most comfortable value for money experience I have had in a while. Thanks to the staff for being professional in all your dealings. I enjoyed it and would recommend it for any business person that seeks a home away from home.

The Wardrobe Guest House was perfect for our needs in all respects. The owner was warm, friendly and helpful as were her excellent staff. We will definitely stay there again.

Hello, this was a really good stay over the weekend. the service is good and there when you need it. the signing in and out is not a complicated lengthy process. though the television is not really up to standard or have enough channel choices, the overall room display is very nice for a 3 star. i look forward to coming back in the future.

I really enjoyed the stay at Farmers Folly. Very centrally situated and easy access.Very friendly staff and a super breakfast. Beautiful gardens and very big rooms. Very clean and comfy bed:) Only criticism is that the bathroom needs a bit of an overhaul. The hot water takes too long to come which wastes lots of water. The room is very big and has lots of potential to ...

Pleasant stay. Delayed check in thou. The guy makes you wait while he takes long calls on his mobile. Kinda annoying when all you want to do is check esp after travelling from another province. However cannot fault the establishment, recently renovated rooms in an excellent location. Will return .

The bed was wow. Very high. I feel sorry for short people. Extremely comfortable. Dstv has a fantastic number of channels. Everything is clean and in working order. The fridge in the room is a bonus. Kleintjie is a host supreme and very friendly. He is a valueble asset.

This B&B was our first overnight stay on our South Africa tour. We could have found no better entrance! We were warmly received by Marianne and two big dogs and were invited first of all on a cup of coffee on the comfortable patio. At first I was disappointed with the booking service with AGODA. They never informed River Meadow Manor of my booking. At first I was told I have no booking with them. Regarding Agoda, I am not so sure that we will us...

A unique Cape Dutch architecture house which is situated in Pretoria, close to Pretoria National Botanical Garden. The interior is well maintained, along with all those vintage wooden furniture. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon. Just one night for our special wedding anniversary. I was really disappointed about the lack of signage outside! There was a handyman working at the area where we parked our car. Still not being totally sure if we were at the right address, the handyman assured us that we were and directed us to the big ornate steel doors, which th...

We stayed for two nights and were blown away by Gunther’s welcome, his willingness to be of assistance and the accommodation. Our suite, No2, was, as a previous traveller has stated, straight from Out of Africa, with perhaps a touch of the 39 steps (see later), with dark wooden furniture, spacious with balcony overlooking the pool, a dressing room and a very large bat...

This was a really exciting experience. Staff was friendly, hotel was clean. A little maintenance to be done here and there. we stayed at Opikopi during our first night in SA, we were concerned about safety issues since we heard not so great stories about Johannesburg and Pretoria. Very courtius and helpful staff, comfortable rooms, impressive villa style mansion. Unimpressive restaurant which serves basic dinners, breakfast is fine. Guesthouse is a bit out of the way, better suited for travelers with an automobile. Terrace and gardens are beautiful and the view is amazing.

Better than expected safety and access wise a city that has good historical sights and attractions worth seeing for a day or two
Visit the Voortrekker Monument, the Zoo, the Union Buildings. Several really nice restaurants and pumping nightlife, especially in Hatfield where the University is.
We walked around about 6 hrs, covered most of the (for us) interesting buildings / places . A very good place to eat is the Cafe 41 ( Shopping Center Eastwood Str near Church Str.
Avoid the Centre of Pretoria it is not a safe place saw a stabbing and police at the Union Buildings were particularly unfriendly or helpful.

The Perfect Time to Experience Pretoria
Timing your visit to Pretoria can significantly enhance your experience. The city enjoys a temperate climate, with warm summers and mild winters. The best time to visit is during the spring months of September to November when the weather is pleasantly warm, and the jacaranda trees bloom, painting the city in shades of purple. This season is ideal for outdoor activities, allowing visitors to explore the parks and nature reserves without the sweltering heat.
Summer, from December to February, can be quite hot, with temperatures often exceeding 30°C (86°F). While this is a great time for enjoying the city's vibrant atmosphere and numerous festivals, it's wise to stay hydrated and seek shade during the hottest parts of the day. If you’re a fan of cultural events, summer is also when many local festivals take place, providing a lively backdrop to your visit.
Autumn, particularly March to May, offers cooler temperatures and fewer crowds, making it a fantastic time for those seeking a more relaxed experience. The fall colors add a beautiful touch to the city's landscapes, perfect for scenic drives or hikes. Regardless of when you choose to visit, Pretoria has something to offer year-round.
Essential Travel Tips for Exploring Pretoria
When visiting Pretoria, it's beneficial to familiarize yourself with local customs and etiquette. South Africans are known for their hospitality, so a friendly greeting goes a long way. It's customary to greet people with a smile and a handshake, and using local phrases such as “howzit” (a casual greeting) can endear you to locals. Additionally, be mindful of cultural sensitivities, particularly when visiting historical sites that may hold significant meaning to the community.
Safety is always a priority for travelers, and Pretoria is no exception. While the city is generally safe, it's wise to remain vigilant, especially in busy areas. Avoid displaying valuable items and opt for reputable transportation options, such as registered taxis or rideshare services. When exploring nature reserves, travel in groups and stick to well-marked trails for a safe and enjoyable experience.
Lastly, understanding the local currency is crucial.
