Mae Sai (Chiang Rai) hotels & accommodations

This was a great find. It is in a great location if you are interested in shopping at the border in Mae sai and also want to take in the queens's botanical garden at doi tung. The main fare at breakfast was rice porridge and fried rice, but if you asked for an american breakfast ,you got it ,at no extra charge, we were only there 2nights and the 1st morning it was ...

It seems a bit unfair to criticise a hotel that provides basic but OK accommodation in a town that notably lacks anything better, or indeed much at all. But Wang Thong is still a bit odd. It comes across as a palatial business hotel but reality defies appearance. It seems to be run on a shoestring with a handful of staff, who mostly look bewildered. The rooms are bette...

Located on the main road in Mae Sai just a few minutes walk from the Myanmar border crossing. Stayed here many times. Hotel rooms are clean and comfortable - nicely decorated - comfotable beds - and bathrooms are fine. Staff are always welcoming and polite. Breakfast buffet is OK - typical mix of Western and Thai food. WiFi and internet are a bit unreliable and sometim...

It was my first time staying at this hotel. The room was clean and well equipped. The 100 baht breakfast was good value for money. The hotel was a few minutes walk to Makro and Tesco/Lotus. The only major problem was the absence of taxi service in the area. The hotel also could not help us on this. Eventually, I managed to hire a car with an English-speaking driver...

The room was clean, beds were comfortable, terrace overlooking fishpond. Very attentive staff. I had a problem with the hotwater system, but it was taken care of the moment I told the staff. The resort is rather new. situated about 500 meters from the main road, fairly simple to find. Not too far away from the golden triangle, the opium museum and the mae sai border-cro...

service was good , friendly and happy and many many staff , but finding those that understand english was hard , the rooms are good especially for the price and the setup and scenery looks great , good pool and relax areas , buffet lunch was great , breakfast a big dissapointment and long way from mae sai , but good location for those who want visit mae sai and t...

From Chiang Rai, head North on Highway 1 to Mae Sai. When you get to the police checkpoint - turn Left, go about 700 meters then turn left. If you book online, its 700 baht. New, large, clean room with a great breakfast included! Weak spot is their Wifi which I could not get at all. Next time I'm gong to Mae Sai, I'll be back! This is only for those with a car!!!

Quiet place off the main road and within a village. Convenient for Mae Fah Luang Gardens and Villa for those without transport -- there are sawng theaw at the junction within walking distance and buses to Chiang Rai or Mae Sai passing on the main road. Just coffee available on at the guest house but there is a local kaosoy noodle shop at the end of the lane leadi...

Nice hotel only 20 minutes from the Mae Sai Border crossing. Free wifi. Set back from the main street so it's quiet. I paid a little more for a room with a fridge. Aircon worked well. The shower was nice and hot. The breakfast was ok. Coffee, juice, fried eggs cooked for you, local sausages and toast.

Older resort - Beds very hard - decent free breakfast - staff very helpful - 1st floor rooms noisy if located by stairs - lots of hot water in shower - the gardens beautiful - about 10 minute drive from shopping in Mae Sai - weak Wi-Fi in room - Would stay there again........

Pleasant enough place to stay in Mae Sai. Close to the border crossing and the Songteaw stop to the bus station is literally right out the front. It's not the most exciting place you will stay, but for the money there is zero complaints; room is clean, decent bedding, fridge, Western bathroom, and opposite the Mae Sai market. If I have to do a visa run to Mae Sai a...

room was shockingly nice. room itself would rate at 5-star level in varied locations, and this is mae sai. otherwise hotel services were... well, i don't think there were any. but staff was fine, place was clean and secure. room was huge. bathroom was well equipped, well finished and water was strong and hot. everything that the dazzling border town of mae sai offers i...

Quiet place just a little outside. Many free bicycles offered. Nice bungalows for a very good price. Including breakfast. Only thing we missed was a hot water maker. But no problem, we asked for it and were brought hot water immediately. Very frienly English speaking owner. We felt warmly welcome there and will book again for sure when coming back to Mae Sai. In the border town of Mae Sai is a nice hotel. Maekhong Delta Boutique has nice clean rooms and is really good value for money. For around $50 AU you can have a large room with balcony and king sized bed (brekkie included). Tours to the local temples, across the border in Myanmar, are approximately 700 Baht and go for around two hours.

There is nothing wrong with the hotel, the room is big and comfortable and clean. It was a 4 floor walk upstairs but that is OK.. Nothing but soap in the bathroom is penny pinching. They advertised breakfast inclusive, I showed them the confirmation. ' no breakfast until November'. I decided not to wait 2 months. No refund to real apology. I'm not sure how it got its r...

Absolutely nothing to say cons about this wonderful place. Clean large new room with all the things you can ask for is there. Owner was there to welcome every guest he personally attend to comfort of every one. As I am a vegetarian he made it to point to provide some vegetarian food for breakfast. I went to Mae Sai just to go across into Myanmar the next day. Top North is within a stone`s throw of the border, right on the main street of Mae Sai. Room cleaner than average. My only grumble might be the 450 baht cost. Other Guesthouses along the river are cheaper. But, for a first time visitor to Mae Sai, Top North can`t be beat.

I mistakenly booked this thinking it was in Chiang Rai city (doh) but its an hour north - in Chiang Rai province and not incredibly easy to get to without your own transport - but not impossible That said the room was good and clean and quiet and comfortable and the staff incredibly helpful and welcoming. Language a bit of a problem that we overcame (again our fault re...

5mins walk from Maesai Bus Terminal but far from the main action i.e. Thai-Myanmar Border/Maesai Market but fear not, that's always a red song teow aka red pickup truck to send you there, just cross to the opposite direction of the road for 15thb. Spacious room/good wifi/bed abit hard/water pressure ok! It's really quiet at night (I arrived hotel abt 9pm+), no night m...

This hotel was clean, the staff were friendly and helpful and the scenery and location was breathtaking. The style of the place and cabins and gardens were well kept. It’s a great little place for a bit of piece and quiet if you are anywhere near Chiang Rai or Mae Sae. Excellent.

bungalows are situated around an ornamental lake, with an outlook to the mountains. serene, rooms are huge with tv, aircon and comfortable beds - not the average rock-hard mattress. very good value for money, owner mike speaks excellent english. cooked breakfast included, laundry services available. there are no signs in english at present for this resort. on the chia...

This is my second stay here. Although I'm not a big fan of bamboo bungalows, I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Mae Sai. Looking over at Myanmar, away from the bustle and noise of the border, it's pretty ideal. Sure, the rooms could use some fixing, but the owner is a sweet old man and its great staying here. Wifi is better the closer you are to the restaurant.

The hotel offers big rooms with big windows. Staff does not speak english. Breakfast is not worth to join. But there is a good coffee shop just around the corner. The swimming pool is very nice. The location not far from central Maesai. Overall good value for money.

It is not too far to go to border pass at Mae Sai. The hotel is so quiet but not much pretty decorated and there is no breakfast. It's about 2 kilometres to boder pass. The receptionist couldn't have been nicer. Very sweet disposition though she did not say a word. It was very late at night when I arrived, and she gave me my key and showed me my room. The hotel is situated in Mae Sai close to the Myanmar border - very close indeed - less than 5 minutes walk away. It is a new hotel with new furnishings so the decor is clean and attractive - but for the older traveller, there is no lift and the stairs are fairly steep with small treads - this could be a serious handicap for anyone who is disabled. Relatively as small city but you can drive to the Golden Triangle as some nice sight-seeing and border crossing by boats to Myanmar or Laos.

There is a great temple at Mae Sai Boder Pass and it is very easy to go to Myanmar boder pass. The products are not expensive and you will enjoy shopping there.
The town has a large shopping market right next to the border crossing. An interesting mix of Thai, Burmese, and Chinese goods.
This area is home to a variety of Hill Tribe groups, Lisu, Lahu, Karen, and Paduang among others. Formerly an Opium growing region, but now completely turned into a haven of coffee, tea, fruit, vegetables, flowers and plant produce.
A very quite and friendly border town. Convenient for shopping and food also easy to cross over to Myanmar border town Tachileik for shopping and sightseeing.
It is a destination that you should not miss. The services and the shopping and the other places to explore makes it so.
Mae Sai is a border trading post with Myanmar. You can get a day pass to Talichek. There are rambling markets with clothing, jewelry and souvenier artefacts.
