Where to stay in Mae Hong Son
Mae Hong Son hotels & accommodations
This is probably one of the best options in Mae Hong Son. Some say it is "out of town"... No, it is a 10 minute easy walk from the lake - which I consider to be the centre. The rooms are spacious and clean and very well equipped. Good illumination, lots of electrical outlets - yes, also at the bedside, good AC, refrigerator, TV... you name it. The pool however looked a...
This is an older hotel, but it's part of the Imperial chain of hotels so obviously of a very high standard and the best hotel in Mae Hong Son city. Weather was cool in the mornings as it was early January when we stayed, so a swim in the pool wasn't looking very tempting, but during the day or by March it surely would be. Breakfast was OK but could have been a little b...
I enjoyed my stay at the Fern Resort. In wish I could have stayed longer. The food was good, and even better kitchen existed in the Fern Restaurant in Mae Hong Son to which the resort provided a free shuttle service. The staff were friendly, attentive and gave a good level of service. The accommodation was good, the cottages arranger around the pool or arranger around ...
If you're looking for a 5-star resort with all the amenities, this place is not for you. However, if you want a place that is super charming and peaceful then Lee Wine is the place. I've lived in Thailand for 19 years and I would say that Lee Wine is the most idyllic place I've stayed at. The views are terrific and the breakfast is wonderful (it's Asian style). A walk ...
Clean, spacious room. Beds are comfortable. Just a little bad smell when check-in and it was ok after 10min turn on the air-con. Great view. Good internet, A/C, flat-screen TV, kettle and free bottle water + instant coffee/tea. You can approach the staff for Hair dryer. Bathroom very clean (missing some light above the mirror and clothes hanger). Breakfast was Ok. SU...
we booked the fan room but upgraded to the a/c room in the main building . it was a good move as it was so hot in april, and there were not many other guests because it was so close to songhan. it was also interesting to see how traditional thai archecture was like to stay in (altho this is a new building it follows traditional thai style)(hern- tai means thai house in...
Location, near the lake, free transfer to the airport (about 4 min driving) in the Main Street of Mae Hong Son. Breakfast is very basic. Free bike. Exceptionally friendly nice staff. They are good people. Please do not expect staff speak English, you are going to their country, just respect their language.
This small guest house is within easy walking distance most places in Mae Hong Son. The rooms are comfortable, with tea and coffee and a full sized fridge. The owner of Boondee House is very friendly and helpful, and genuinely wants his guests to have a comfortable and enjoyable stay in Mae Hong Son. Mae Hong Son itself is a charming, if quiet, town. A great place to...
10 mins walk from town centre(lake), some good local Thai restaurant are around the hotel. The hotel is very clean and new with simple design,(still building) large bed and shower room, and great balcony. American breakfast is okay, but having outside table, a bit cold in Mae Hong Son. If you can contact with staff before arrive, they might pick you up on bus stat...
The one night staying at the hotel was pleasant. However it was interesting that the price was higher than a very good hotel in Mae Hong Son. Finding this hotel along my route was good and I would stay there again.
Ignore the 2 star rating, this place is great, beautiful grounds and very nice room. Staff a bit slow but cottoned on reasonably quick that we had a booking! Very very good value for the quality, located just on outskirts of Mae Hong Son but only 10 min walk to centre. We ended up booking an extra night.
Our 2nd stop doing rhe Mae Hong Son loop. The owner gave us a warm welcome, showing us the facilities, the room and places to visit around here. Pool and garden are an awesome place to chill and drink something. Rooms are normal size, clean and modern decoration. I would come back again for sure.
I should recommend others to stay here. Old teak hotel give me a good memory in Mae sariang.
I booked by mistake thinking it was in Mae Hong Son but it turned out to be great. The location is nice, with a pool and little corner right on the river and a bamboo bridge. There is a little bit of noise from the street, as it's not in the middle of the jungle. Staff is nice, food great and good value. One of the best places we stayed in in this trip.
Very cute spot. Great staff. Close to great cafes and a restaurants. We only stayed in Mae Hong Son for one night but wish we stayed longer!
Reasonable place with good environment. Quite and nice weather!!!
Easy to access and enough parking for number of rooms I assume It feels budget in all ways.
We had a lovely time at Gims Resort in Mae Hong Son with our 2 children. The bungalows were very nice stand-along dwellings with decks out back. Ours were positioned along a rice paddy with great views of the surrounding hills. It was enjoyable to wake up in the mornings and relax on the patio in the lounge chairs and enjoy the scenery. The resort is a bit out of town...
Highly recommended for those who wanna visit Mae hong son.. Everywhere is within walking distance for those who stay at this hotel. The new wing built is very clean. The heater produce hot water compare to other hotels which I've stay before in Mae hong son. Overall a good experience. Will book this hotel again if I ever visit Mae hong son again.
The lady that checked us in was very nice, the hotel itself is actually nice for its location and price. Not updated but I wouldn't expect that in this area. The shower broke in our room so had to be moved to another, the previous room was much nicer, but moving us wasn't a problem. The breakfast was good, plenty on offer and the views from the balcony on top were beau...
People were great and you couldn’t beat the price of the hostel. The rooms were as I expected and it got quite cool at night. But they can’t justify that as a mattress. I would have been better off sleeping on the floor. Not even joking
Stayed here for one night during the Mae Hong Son loop. Staff were great, facilities great for the price & breakfast included. Beautiful view from the dining area. Very quiet little hotel which made it really peaceful.
I stayed here only one night. This hotel located at nice location. You can walk or borrow bicycle to seeking something to eat there. This hotel have wide balcony which open air and you can feel for a peace when you look at the river and the mountain in front of you at the balcony.
We stayed in huentairesort for two days. Everyone of us liked staying in this resort. The rooms are well maintained. neat and clean. The furnitures are not too many but the essential ones, carefully chosen. The set up around the resort is very nice. Great resort for the price.
I absolutely loved my state just outside of Mae Hong Son at Sang Tong Huts. It was one of the highlights of my trip. Beautiful location and grounds, charming, clean and well appointed rooms with lovely views. Utterly charming. Delicious breakfasts. Louise is the best host ever, interested and interesting, happily sharing her knowledge of the area and helpful in every ...
I loved staying here. The owners were really lovely people and the accommodation was very nice. I enjoyed being away from town (5 mins by Tuk Tuk) but others may like to get something in Mae Hong Son. I think being in the quiet area is best for me though. Lovely breakfast as well.
A quite relaxing retreat with a beautiful garden. The room was spacious enough. It would be even better if they made the effort to serve a little breakfast and to add a fridge in the rooms. The staff was very helpful and kind!
The new development is gorgeous. The rooms are big with plenty of natural light. The aircon works perfectly and the showers are great. The whole place was spotlessly clean and it’s easily one of the best value places we’ve stayed in Thailand. Conveniently located close to restaurants and temples in Mae Hong Son.
This place was right on the river in Mae Hong Son. It was really nice sitting on the deck and looking at the river and mountains. It was also cool that there was a tree in the room. For the price I would certainly recommend this place and stay here again. For not many hotels to chose from in Mae Hong Son this is a good one to stay at.
Friendly Owner has a nice place secluded from the hustle, bustle, and noise of the city south of town. If you are friendly with an Asian toilet, it's a great getaway. There was a cold snap, and the Extra Blanket on the bed kept me toasty all night. I like the place and the people. Will stay again.

We stayed here one night as we were doing the Mae Hong Son loop. It was perfect for the night and the location was great. The place is really green and is almost like a maze with all the bushes guiding you to your bungalow. They have an area where you can sit over looking the river which is really beautiful and a perfect place to relax after the drive.

Perfect. Just be aware, it is a bot out of town. No problem, if you are on a motorbike or by car. Best value for money.
Reasonable place with good environment. Quite and nice weather!!!
I had a terrible experience as far as getting to this homestay. I arrived on motorbike from Chiang Mai pretty late in central Mae Hong Son and then was told that this place was another 50km away from the town. Geez, my ride to this place was nothing short of terrifying experience. Pitch darkness with the most winding steep drops. All the way I was hoping that my motorb...
the most expensive booking to date in Thailand yet it was nothing special . I missed a warmer water. Quietness and opacity as a good points (not usual in the country!)

The Good View represents fair value for money. The rooms are described as deluxe and there is some artistic license here, but everything is relative. The rooms are small (even the Deluxe) but the beds are clean and ok for one night. The room and ensuite need a thorough clean to eliminate cobwebs in the corners. Check in and out was swift and efficient. Breakfast w...

hello place far from the reality of the announcement and between 1.5 km and 2 km in the middle of the forest, only accessible by car or motorbike taxi otherwise if you find that know the place indicated no sign for the road and the hotel, we were filed by the police that the husband is the head of the police station no office and no wifi internet access except for r...

This is one of the best hotels i have stayed in in Thailand, especially for the price paid @ 900 baht. We stayed in a mini house which has just been opened. The room is large, very well furnished with a 4 poster, very comfortable bed and a wall mounted plasma TV. A great interesting bathroom as well. Only problem it is hard to find, somewhat out of town and with a d...

Nature lovers perfect location, very comfortable, the jacuzzi villa is a special treat, overlooking the mountains and river. Heated bathroom floor, tasteful and beautiful decor highlighting the arts of the region. Birdwatching and star gazing. Excellent personalized service. A great place to rest and connect with nature. Thank you, will definitely be back :)
Perfectly located outside town of Mae Hong Son (you'll need a car to get there). Place is quiet, no noisy/aggressive dogs. There were only few guests that day so place was relaxing and serene. Green grass, calm river, beautiful swimming pool, cute wooden houses which are comfortable and spacious. Simple but decent breakfast. And that's really a resort. Definitely recom...

Real reviews for hotels
Mae Hong Son is a typical, quaint Northern Thai Mountain town. English is not usually spoken, but I always manage to get what I need or want from the shops or at the large night market which is located around the pretty town lake.
MHS is a main stop on the MHS Loop Trip. A pleasant little town of 6000. not much there really. Doubt I'd ever bother to return.
ยังเป็นเมืองที่ยังน่ามาพัก เงียบยังมีเอกลักษณ์ แม้จะดูเจริญขึ้นกว่าเก่า มีแหล่งท่องเที่ยวทางธรรมชาติหลายที่
Not so many tourists come here yet, which is nice but also means local people many of them can`t speak English.
Although Mae Hong son is a small province but it has many place to visit such as a moutains, hotspring, temple a village and has many activities you can do.
I rode a larger motorbike from Chaing Mai to Pai and later to Mae Hong Son, called the Mae Hong Son Loop.
Old small City. Wondnerful People. good Thai food. Close to Bhuddhist shrines. Lakes were a great attraction, especially for photography.
Could hardly see Mae Hong Son: the forest was burning everywhere and the town was covered in thick smoke.
Do not miss sun set from Doi Gong Moo, mist on the lake in the morning, day trip to Ban Ruk Thai and Ruan Thai, ride on long tail boat to Burma border and Long Neck Karen Village, people watching at local market and Sunday market.
The city is accessible by road and air. Good for sightseeing cultural and living of hill tribe people
Mae Hong Son is a city in the mist. One night in Pai, one night in Pang Ung and another night in the city would be perfect!
The Mea Hong Son is a nice place of nature traveling and have a nice temples that differance from other province of Thailand
It's a city for city retreat! It's cooling, relaxing and easy access to all places coz it's a small town.
Beautiful and scenic with friendly inhabitants. Near the border wtih Burma so there are many Hilltribe peoples and ethnic diversity.
Mae Hong Son is a lovely area but requires a vehicle to fully explore the beautiful surrounding attractions.
Good place to stop when going in the fall to view wildflowers. The temple at the top of the hill is beautiful.
It's remote town in Thailand, about 6 hours drive from Chiang Mai, most way on the mountains. Maybe because of this reason, there are not so many visitors and keep quiet which is nice to us, and people there is friendly, and keep the natural way that we like.
For a rewarding experience, volunteer on the border as an educator or other resource person for the Karenni Burmese refugees.
Mae Hong Son is very remote and one of the more quiet province in Thailand. I love the city & main square around the lake & temple.
Best trip: drive up to Mountain Microwave, approx. 40km south of Mae Hong Son. Small winding road, 360° panoramic view on a clear day on an altitude of approx.
First and foremost, MHS is a gorgeous place situated IN the mountains. The views from on high are breathtaking.
It was a small and quiet town far away from Chiengmai.Mae Hong son offer a lot of outdoor activity such as national park and ranger park.
This is small town and slow life. very very beautyful place. i like weather in here.love mountain.Once time must go to here^^
It has its' charm, the people are the asset of the city, they are friendly and ever so willing to help, they know what a tourist would like to see and visit.
There is a walking market every night in the middle of town in front of the Gamta Hotel that runs down the street and around the lake.
A very beautiful city with lots of very interesting Temples. Night market at the Lake and also Night bazaar in the town centre.
good street food. safe town for walking around. good for tours in the surrounding countryside. no pushy street sellers.
Mae Hong Son was ok. There wasn't a lot of things to do here. Our family did enjoy hiking up to the top of a waterfall and other outdoor activities, but the downtown area left a lot to be desired.
Mae Hong Son hotels with breakfast
