"Knysna Manor House is excellently located in a quiet street running parallel and at short distance to Main Road. The various rooms and public areas are furnished and decorated in old Victorian style. The rooms are spacious. There is, however, no elevator to reach the second floor. Wi-Fi is available in public areas but not in the rooms. We were welcomed by the owner, a very friendly lady, giving us all information requested to have a wonderful stay at Knysna. The Knysna Manor House serves a copious English breakfast. Various restaurants can be found at Main Road / Memorial Square (about 350-400 m from hotel). A shopping mall with public parking garage (about 300 m from hotel) and a good restaurant (about 450 m from hotel) are located at Gray Street, 1 and 2 blocks from Main Road in the direction of the Waterfront. The various restaurants at the Knysna Waterfront are a bit more remote but easily accessible by car. "

"I am a well travelled person, but there are very very few places that could match Waterfront lodge in the World, let alone South Africa, for its welcome, tidiness, location and breakfast.i would not hesitate in recommending this property to anyone visiting the area, and would hope to return myself someday soon. Thank you, thank you, thank you........"

"We really enjoyed our stay here, everything about this hotel was perfect for an enjoyable stay in Knysna. The location is excellent, right down on the waterfront and just a few steps from shops, bars and restaurants. Breakfast offered a great choice and variety of food. Staff were polite and efficient. The bedroom was very comfortable, with 2 double beds. Most of all, we want people to know about our story of employee honesty. When we arrived back home to Ireland, we discovered that our Kindle book reader was missing, so we tried to retrace our steps through the various accommodations where we had stayed on the Garden Route. After receiving 'not found' messages from all, including Protea Knysna, we were thrilled and delighted to receive a call from Candice in Protea to say they had found it. we made arrangements for it's safe return and Protea could not have been more helpful. Thank you for your great honesty!!"

"We loved this hotel. Pure luxury and comfort. The only thing is the suite says it has a kitchenette but it's not what I would call a kitchenette. It is just a sink and a kettle/coffee machine. No microwave or toaster or anything like that - so it's not really a kitchenette in my opinion. The restaurants could do with more (and much better) vegetarian options. Otherwise pure comfort and luxury in a beautiful location. Would definitely stay here again."

"I travelled with my elderly mom. We enjoyed almost 99% of what this hotel can offer. The base was perfect for exploring the town of Knysna. The reception staff were polite & helpful- Clarence & Sandswa in particular! Breakfast was adequate & varied. However I do have to point out that if you are NON WHITE the breakfast staff will not pay you much attention. Be prepared to fight for attention over coffee choices or any sort of help. I didn’t even know you can order a variety of coffee options or your eggs cooked to your preference until it was offered to my ‘white’ diners next to me & hence not me. My brown skin is not worthy perhaps?Unfortunately in a small South African town like Knysna, white skin still trumps. Ps. Natasha the accountant must learn to drink her coffee at her desk instead of the breakfast nook reception. It is very disconcerting to see an employee languidly drinking her coffee & unwilling to help you. Surely Rex provides proper desks for coffee consumption to their admin staff? "
