"I stayed in the Mandarina for about a week whilst I was working in an office in Colombo. The hotel its self is very nice, the families and amenities are nice and the rooms are modern and clean. The rooftop pool is nice and a cool place for taking photos and relaxing. The buffet breakfast they provide is also good, with many different options from western to Sri Lankan foods. The staff are mildly friendly, although did sometimes give me a weird vibe - maybe because I am a young professional? Some of my local friends came to visit a few times and they did not question anything. I had a great stay here and would stay here again. Tip: Don't use the tuktuks outside the hotel, they tried to charge me 700 rupees, use the PickMe App my journey was only 300. "

"The people of Sri Lanka are very nice and welcoming in general, they are honest and friendly. The staffs of Marino beach Colombo are no different. They are very nice, kind and guest-friendly. The female receptionist and others were very kind to give us a room with a better view of the sea upon request. The room and everything else is neat and clean. Nice bathroom fittings with an automated blind curtain. The room has a touch of aesthetics to make anyone’s stay here a memorable experience. On top of that, guests here get unlimited access to the infinity pool, garden, and Jacuzzi. The Food Emporium and Marino Mall with the VR Park can make life easy, especially if you are traveling with kids. The food emporium has excellent Local, Indian, Western food. Price of food is reasonable. Also, the view of the sea is excellent from there. You can smoke at the pool, at the balcony of your hotel room, and at the restaurants of the food emporium. Do taste the tea in the restaurant. It’s excellent!"

"Why was the breakfast buffet Halal, when Sri Lanka is not a Muslim country and the large majority of guests, by appearance were non-Muslims? Therefore we were offered 'chicken ham' and no bacon or pork sausages for breakfast, even though these are available at most other large hotels in Colombo? I am concerned that hotels like this don't recognise that 95% of their customers are non-Muslim. We, as Customers are being denied a choice, and having Muslim food rules applied to us! Small but important point."

"This hotel has such a lovely feel. Stayed in direct ocean view room and had excellent view of the beach in front. Rooms was dated, especially bathroom but was advised this is the newer part of the hotel. Public areas showing age, scratches and marks everywhere. Best feature was the buffet dining, best we had in Sri Lanka. Pool are is nice but crowded and no sense of organization. People moving chairs and lounges all over the place so when busy it looks like a shambles. The pool area is also open to outside visitors who pay which adds to the overcrowding. Private beach area is nice but desolate and not inviting, preferred the public beach which had more atmosphere. All in all though a lovely stay here and the staff are wonderful and would have no hesitation staying again. Took local train several times to Colombo only a few stations away and that was cheap, fast and an experience in itself."

"After traveling around Sri Lanka for 9 days, we returned to Colombo to stay for 1 weekend. Hotel location is great as it is in the business and hotel area of the city, not a far walk to Galle Face Green which is a nice strip of public lawn along the ocean front. The hotel is just across the Dutch Hospital commercial complex with shops, spas, restaurants and cafes. It is also a walking distance to Colombo main train station and bustling commercial market neighborhood. The hotel is quite quirky with an overall Scottish theme. Room very spacious and view of government buildings. Bathroom is spacious, modern and clean. Only one set back was the shower door that wouldn't close properly so had leaking water onto the dry area. Staff were attentive and accommodating. Our flight was late in the night on Sunday, so paid for another half day to enjoy a full warm sunny day in Colombo and to get cleaned up in the evening before airport. Also asked the hotel to arrange an airport taxi which worked out well. Great ending to our Sri Lanka trip. Will recommend this hotel to friends traveling to Colombo."

"Excellent hotel with friendly staff, extremely comfortable rooms and a great selection of bars and restaurants. I am a regular visitor to Sri Lanka as I have family in Colombo and have stayed in pretty much all of the "better" Colombo hotels at some point in the last couple of years. I would thoroughly recommend The Kingsbury - It is a very versatile hotel appropriate for various types of travellers. The rooms have a luxurious but homely feel, with seriously comfortable beds and pillows! A drink in the Sky bar is a must even if you aren't a resident. The breakfast choice and quality was pretty much the best I've experienced in Sri Lanka. I would also recommend the foyer coffee shop - A bit crowded at times but the cakes and chocs are lovely and well priced for the quality. Overall, an excellent hotel that I will most definitely be returning to! "
