The building is a bit old, but it has two pools and a great location where you can go straight to the beach. Since the waves are high, there weren't many people swimming. The rooms were average, but having a terrace with a view of the pool and the sea made it feel like a resort. There were no amenities like toothbrush sets or pajamas, so you need to bring your own. The breakfast buffet was delicious. There were many types of curry, some of which were not too spicy and easy to eat. There were also many types of bread, from meat pies to pound cakes. The fresh watermelon juice was also delicious. There were souvenir shops and mini supermarkets within walking distance. I think it's a hotel with good value for money.

Pleasant Stay at Camelot Beach Hotel”
Arriving on a very hot Saturday afternoon, was somewhat irritated at the time it took to check in. The reception team were given the booking ref which they found straight away and the stay had been pre-paid on my credit card. It then took another 15-20 minutes for them to get us checked in. We were given some cold fruit juice each which was very welcome but having taking a sip and then leaving reception for a few minutes my glass had been removed by the time I came back. A porter helped us with our cases to our room which was definitely necessary as the hotel has no lifts and we were on the 2nd floor. It was quite a trek to the room and basically this forces you to give a tip to someone for doing something you could easily do if there was a lift. On to the room, I was pleasantly surprised to see the room, it was quite nice as was the bathroom which had shower gel, shampoo & conditioner AND body cream which really was not expected for a 3 star hotel. The shower was not at all powerful and I found myself missing my own shower at home as you really need a half decent power shower in Sri Lanka’s heat. My room also dad a small balcony with 2 comfy chairs (albeit they looked rather worn out) and a small table with an ashtray with a lovely view of the pools and the sea. After spending an hour or so in the afternoon out by the pool we had to go back inside as it started to rain and we opted to go out for our evening meal as there was a wedding reception going on and we felt it would be somewhat crowded in the restaurant. In the morning we had an early breakfast which was very good with lots of variety, I think it was around 4,200lkr each but definitely worth it. We then spent a few hours around the pool which was lovely although extremely hot, so much so that you couldn't walk barefoot from your sunbed to the pool and the wooden floor was like walking on hot coals. The lukewarm water in the pool was hugely welcomed. On checking out we had to wait again for no obvious reason as we were advised the previous day that the bill was paid. The didn't even give me a copy of the bill advising that I would have it by email via the booking company, so why all the waiting around?! Considering it cost £120 for 1 night for 2 rooms, I don’t think it was cheap compared to local prices for a 3 star hotel but I was happy enough with the room and the pool scene and breakfast. I would add though that the ceiling fan was a Godsend as the a/c was pretty rubbish, the whole time I was in the room I had the ceiling fan on at top speed which really helped in getting a good night’s sleep! Aside from the rather slow service at reception and poor a/c, I'm quite happy to give Camelot a decent 4 out of 5 stars overall.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff were fantastic from the reception desk to the restaurant. Special mention to chef Dahanayake who made sure my wife’s specific gluten free food requirements are met. The garden around the pool and the hotel frontage are immaculately maintained. Noticeable around the propertly was the need for deep cleaning especially around the corridors of the property at all levels of the building. There is an urgent need for the air conditioning to be turned on at the reception lobby and the lounge. The comfort of the patrons and the staff is being neglected in this regard by the management of the hotel.

The staff at this hotel were absolutely incredible! I saw this hotel with a deal and it was outrageously expensive down to something quite affordable. I was very excited to stay in a luxurious hotel and this was not quite what I was expecting. It was a very clean and comfortable above average hotel room. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were some of the best I have ever had in a hotel. I would stay at this hotel again but I would say it's worth it if you include the buffet dinner and such. The pools were great and they had a jazz player when I went down for dinner which was lovely. I would stay again but curb my expectations a little bit.
