Birmingham City Center hotels & places to stay

This was my 2nd or 3rd stay at the Britannia. I was fortunate to get a deal on the price through Agoda which made it extremely good value. It was an incredibly hot day and sadly a lady on a higher floor was very vocal throughout the afternoon and night. I pity those who were in the rooms above, below and adjacent to her. We had 3 single rooms ( mother, myself, my son), all were in a row. My mother had to close the window due to the moaning and groaning, and then spent a sleepless night in a hot and sticky room with no air con. Luckily I had headphones with me. Of course it was not the fault of the hotel, and if it had continued the 2nd night we would have mentioned it to the staff at reception. The reception staff are great, very helpful, efficient, polite, great customer service. We didnt have breakfast in the hotel so cant comment on that. Will always check the price on this hotel when visiting Birmingham as it could not be better situated for a trip to Birmingham for those on public transport.

The hotel is situated strategically in the heart if Birmingham city with close proximity to the council house and public library. There is a street with many restaurants and shops nearby. The train station is within 6-8minutes walking tine and provides easy access to city peripheral. The property is clean with sheets crisps and whites that lives up to its 5-star mark. Overall, i woukd rate the experience awesome !!!

Very comfortable bed, good shower with plenty of hot water. Kitchen facilities had everything you need, including dishwasher. Parking can be a slight issue as there are limited street parking spaces. Although there is the opportunity to purchase a space at a cost of £10 pn All in all I thought the apartment was excellent value for money and I would definitely stay there again when working in Birmingham or surrounding areas. The staff were very helpful and polite.

Close to Aston university and the Bullring City Center, clean and modern hotel and the staff are excellent they are friendly and so helpful, the room is great and facing the Bullring City Center it is equipped with every thing that a single need. The Cafe and the Restourant is located in the first floor. The rate is reasonable, especially there was a BIG events this week in Birmingham, Highly recommend to stay on

I was with my family ( all girls and a young child ) checking out from hotel heading to London. We have a few big luggages and shopping begs to carry and we were on our way to the nearest train station. The front desk staff saw us in this situation and in his first intention he showed us short cut by leading us to the back door. This little action has saved us a lot of time and energy. As such, we managed to get to the train on time once we reached train station. Or else, we will need to wait for the next train probably in 20 minutes to half an hour. By the time we reached London, it was before 11pm. I'm sure if this staff didn't show us the short cut, we will be late for the train, late to reach london, late to check in hotel in London. Thanks to the friendly and kind staff of Radisson Blu Birmingham Hotel!

I've stayed at SACO Birmingham - Brindleyplace apartments several times now. Each time the staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. The rooms are splendidly spacious and furnished with all the amenities you may need. The location is good with many restaurants/bars around. There is also a nice canal area nearby. However it is at least a 10 minute walk to the center of New Street, where you can find the shopping centres. I highly recommend staying here.

If I come to Birmingham again, this hotel is going to be the first one I will check for free rooms. I went there after studying the city map a bit, and because the price was reduced (around 80 EUR per night). I had a room with a king size bed (absolutely comfortable) on the 7th floor. This leads to my perhaps only point of criticism, namely I wasn't able to lower the temperature in the room to below something like 23-25 degrees, although I set the AC to 16 degrees. (Windows can't be opened.) A receptionist told me that it may have been due to the location under the roof, and the sun operating. Well, maybe; most of the time it was sunny indeed. I didn't use the spa facilities nor the breakfast (but I did use the Starbucks in the lobby and was satisfied). The location was perfect to me for two reasons: it's very close to the city centre, and to the New Street train station, which is 9 minutes of a train ride away from the Airport station, and 7 minutes from the University station (my conference was at the Edgbaston campus). Of great value for a conference-goer was the electric iron and the complimentary tea/coffee in the room. The hotel also had socket adapters that I could borrow (I forgot mine from the Continent), and separate USB charger sockets (perfect idea). I missed some shelf space a bit, but was able to use my suitcase as an ersatz set of shelves... Needed to re-log to the wi-fi all too often (that was a bit irritating). A supermarket is a few steps away, and there is a variety of restaurants to choose from, in the vicinity. The picturesque canal district is a few minutes away. All the staff were absolutely polite and helpful.

We used the hotel as a base from which to go for a meal, drinks and entertainment. The hotel was perfect for what we wanted - good value for money, clean, spacious and central location. The only downside about the location is the noise from outside in the early hours but this was to be expected and doesn't detract from the fact that if we were looking for a place to stay in central Birmingham for a night we would definitely stay there again.

what a find, this hotel is managed incredibly well, all the staff have a view "can do" attitude. based in the heart of birmingham city in the chinese district, all the shopping you can handle at the bull ring, i left my wife to shop while i attended business at the nec she was overwhelmed with the quality of shops and markets. dinner was a breeze, every style of food possible within 10 mins from hotel. i normally stay at a 4* 10 mins away but will return next opportunity. take the wife most shops are reduced costs against london south (earn brownie points)

This hotel has good-sized rooms which are immaculate and very well equipped (room safe, hair dryer, ironing board and iron, tea and coffee making facilities, etc). The staff were excellent. check in and check out were very fast, and the staff were knowledgable about the area when we wanted advice. Location is excellent - a short walk from Bull Ring shopping, the coach station, train station, and there were always available taxis in a car park next door (to the left as you exit the hotel). Breahfast was good and comprehensive, also started at 6.30am, which suited us. Altogether a good place to stay, and I would chose this hotel again for a Birmingham city centre stay.

Our second stay at MacDonald UK is impressive and very enjoyable. This is my first stay at MacDonald Burlington Birmingham, Great Hotel! Unique! Overall service is very pleasant, English breakfast is excellent. This hotel is very suitable to traveller not only business and also for pleasure. It is only 10 minutes walk from new street rail station. It is also is easy to find the hotel from the fascinating city center of Birmingham. More surprises are all city attractions are nearby and in walking distance.

I had a very pleasant and comfortable stay in Birmingham Central Backpackers. Breakfast was healthy and appetising; a choice of fruit, jams and bread including tea or coffee. The staff were polite and sometimes talkative. The bunk beds in the large dormitory are quite old; the metal frame creaks often. Make sure you wear ear plugs! The kitchen, shower room and toilet facilities are clean and well maintained. The common room has ample furniture, space, DVDs, games and literature. A nice flat screen TV is available for use. Overall the value for money is very good.

The Hotel still feels new and crisp, the rooms are excellent with clean, crisp linen, neat furnishings and a decent sized shower. The ONLY drawback of this compact hotel was that they don't do early book-ins, even after I mentioned that my flight would land 7:10am and that I would want to book in at 7:45am, they merely mentioned that they could only accommodate me at 15:00! Luckily a room went open two hours and the receptionist could assist me. Other than that the stay was pleasant, affordable and quaint.

This was one of the best hotels I have stayed in, it was extremely clean, the bedrooms were generously sized and the bathrooms were immaculate. The room was cleaned each morning with fresh towels and bedding, and the breakfasts were fantastic. All in all a great city break, brilliantly positioned in the centre of Brindley Place, meaning the city centre was walkable. No noise from Broad Street and centred in the modern district besides the best restaurants and bars in Birmingham. You do have to pay for parking additionally though. However, I shall definitely be staying in these hotels around the country again.

I booked and paid in full for a one night stay to attend my Daughter's graduation. On my way to Birmingham I received a phone call to say that the hotel through a "technical issue" was overbooked and they were moving me to an alternative outside the centre. This was not acceptable and I asked them if there was nothing in the centre of Birmingham he said no. To cut a long story straight through Agoda I found another room at an alternative hotel just down the road. So when the receptionist at the AC said there was no rooms available in Birmingham he obviously hadn't tried looking very hard.

a modern designer hotel in birmingham city center, but a bit plastic. room was nice with walk-in shower with shampoo and shower-gel attached to the wall! comfortable chair to sit and watch tv,with a big bed. breakfast was self-service, and limited, with no evidence of staff, to ask for anything you didn't see. great internet service in reception area,were i was able to print my boarding pass for flight, and surf the net.
